  1. It's been dry so far, rain is still forecast for this pm before drying up again for tonight. BBC has downgraded from heavy rain to light rain and the length of time it was due to rain for has decreased too.... I would say the odds are 70/30 for it being on - but then I lost a shed load of cash at the St Leger last weekend which probably proves that I don't understand betting odds!!!!
  2. I'm not so sure - I know we had some gremlins at the start of the Ipswich meeting, but they were giving us more than a run for our money until heat 12 and we haven't exactly pulled up any trees at their place this year. Think both teams would be fairly confident of their chances over the 2 legs
  3. Not the most exciting couple of meetings, save for Lasse Bjerre and his wall of death moves! Can't believe how wide that guy can ride - possibly the only person who gets closer to the fence than Richard Hall used to
  4. The curfew is alive and kicking at Owlerton- fairly sure Bates made reference to it having to be adhered to and the pre-season news conference thing they did. We've had meetings finish for 9pm with an interval - so 1.5hrs to run. Start 15mins early, only grade the track after 7 heats, don't allow any messing about for choosing riders for heat 15, tell the ref to keep things moving at a pace and pray that there are no crashes! Simples
  5. Away fans applauding their own rider? Disgraceful behaviour
  6. Should be a good meeting with both teams riding well at the moment, think Redcar will edge it unfortunately but with revenge being inflicted on Sunday!
  7. Unbelievable. Thought we would do well to hit 30, team performance of the year?!?
  8. But summers scored as many as the 2 other heat leaders combined tonight, really don't see where your criticism is coming from (in relation to tonight's performance at least)
  9. Aaron was about as good as it got for Glasgow tonight, if not for him and Campton it would have been very embarrassing for you.
  10. What's the difference between `Lasse was unable to ride` and `no longer able to ride`?? An extremely subtle difference which amounts to no difference I would humbly suggest
  11. Agreed. We had the meeting won and realistically we don't care if Scunny picked up a bonus point as it won't effect our end of the table, so why not give him the extra experience.
  12. Regarding Wood's exclusion... was the ref having a laugh?!?! He was off gate 4 going round turn 1 still by the fence when he got clattered from behind by Tero who was off gate 1... still can't figure out that decision!! That said, couldn't see the need for booing Tero, not his fault that the ref needs specs
  13. Scott Nichols in place of JG and I thought Bjerre was back, but might be wrong on that
  14. Think it was a case of Lawson was riding at Sheffield last night so it saves the price of a phone call to anybody else! That and he has never let us down in the past
  15. We won by 12 points last time, but Cook had an uncharacteristically bad night (by his standards), so could be a close one - especially if Campton rides like he did last time.
  16. Wowsers!! Hoped we might scrape a point after performances earlier in the year, yet did not see that coming - think losing Sam probably had a slight impact, but we would still have ended up with a point or 2 which would still have been a cracking result
  17. I believe the expression is 'put to the sword'. I was trying to work out if we were that good or if Newcastle were that bad, came to the conclusion that it was a mixture of the 2.
  18. Not sure I follow 'the get at Cook' attitude - he is what he is and I'm not sure I have ever seen him attempt to big himself up into being something he isn't. Never spoken to him as such, but he seems a really nice guy - when he guested for Sheffield a lot a year or 2 back he was brilliant with the kids hanging around the pits, always had time for them for high fives, signatures and photos etc
  19. Think that is by far and away the best I have seen Graversen ride, can't really fault him - The effort in his final ride was there for all to see and perhaps shows some riders the benefits of not giving up and racing to the line
  20. Howarth is out with concussion and Bates might be dubious after last week's tumble, so presume that baby Bjerre will come in for Sheffield
  21. Second highest scoring team of the year around Owlerton... not that disgusting a team 🤔
  22. Graversen in the pits tonight and Lasse saying that it will be nice to have somebody to speak in Danish to... hmmm...
  23. Wood looks ok, a trier at the very least. 2nd ride out gates Howarth and was level with him coming round turn 4
