Wolves V Belle Vue 18/4/17
stevebrum replied to stevebrum's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There are plenty of wolves fans who will say the racing hasn't been at its highest standard for a couple of years and the bikes now may play a huge part in that. However it's worth noting that quite a few riders just don't know how to set their bike up for Monmore. That has little to do with the bikes and silencers changing in recent years. Smith could barely turn the bike in heat 2 but that's more to do with the track being much gripper than he is used to quite probably. The bikes seem to perform better on slicker tracks which for me is a shame. Tracks need dirt on them to provide entrainment throughout the meeting IMHO. A track like the NSS will provide entertainment slick or grippy dependant on the skill of the rider. -

Our tracks have always been different shapes and sizes hence why everyone wanted to ride over here for education. And for me That's the beauty of our leagues. Bikes are more volatile i grant you but for me the good riders know how to ride technical tracks as it's it own art form in itself. That's why I prefer watching racing on a smaller circuit. You get to see who has a good technical ability. Nothing personal either. -
What do you want a pat on the head. You said wolves would be 3rd in your predictions then 5th a week later. Difficult to know what you mean most of the time.
-
Top line as in GP standard, which those are not. Bjerre possibly.
-
Seems Freddie is the only top line rider performing well at the moment. Looks like Poole, Kings Lynn and Swindon are trying to reduce their number ones average to buy more points in a few weeks.

He wasn't at Wolves. Barely an ember. -
it was always going to be 50/50. Plus on a reduced average it was worth the gamble. Guessing.

I'm happy with what I have to watch yes thanks. In a perfect world every track would be perfectly prepared and all the star riders would be here. I'm thankful what I have. Ask the many fans who are trackless. The NSS is an example of what can be achieved. It's hardly likely to be repeated at many other tracks. I'm sure there are many tracks that you visit that you may deem inferior. But if the fans are happy enough to support their local track it's pretty demeaning to tell them your product is rubbish. Be grateful you have what you have and you aren't a Coventry fan, for example. -

We get it, the NSS is the best place to watch speedway. However I am more than happy with the racing i watch weekly at Monmore. Unless all the tracks rebuild it's not a likely example to follow tho is it. -

Plenty of passing. -
Changes will make us stronger once the averages change. Not before. So I'm fine with that.

No idea! -
yes heard that too, and appears correct. Absolutely we must re arrange the fixture just like Poole have done in the past claiming it 'hurts their business', seems absolutely fair. Ryan Douglas.

I don't think it's that all all. Not unless all tracks rebuild a purpose build track and stadium which is not likely. no track in the UK is like the NSS. So its tiresome to suggest every other track offers poor racing. last night wasn't poor racing and Monmore is regularly voted best prepared track. That's no fluke it's proof that the racing is generally good. What is sour is having Aces fans saying how poor the racing is because their track is so good, particularly given that you lost as well. Well said. It was Ryan Douglas. -

The standard was fine. Our track isn't the NSSC. Nor is any other. Some great heats tonight. Changes already happening if statuses are to be believed. -

On a reduced average he was worth the risk. Has had some decent meetings so all not bad. -

if you were there you must have had your back turned if you missed the great racing tonight. GM for the first 3 then back to the BMW for the last one. Both hopeless. When Greaves sets about beingbghe one doing the chasing then you know you're in trouble. Adam is riding on a British license. That was a cracker with some top quality battles going on tonight. Wolves led from start to finish with the reserves contributing. Never expected to say that. Was a little disappointed with the Aces. YES they took a point, YES they were never more than 6 points behind. I expected a decent win for them in all honesty considering how they have started and are usually a danger team at Monmore. So I'm delighted my prediction was wrong. Freddie looked a completely different beast tonight and never looked like getting touched whilst Bjerre started with 2 strong wins and then was well and truly beaten up in 2 of his remaining rides. Good to see a great travelling support for the Aces however the ones stood by us........... not sure they even understand the sport. They want Garrity for Fricke who is rubbish (their words). Everytime we won a race they said we cheat as we brought Woffy in last year (that's right EVERY time! ) They are the better side despite never leading the meeting. Still, I'm sure all clubs have em. Adam is a huge worry and was nowhere near scoring and when Greaves is the rider to chase in heat 12 you know you have problems. Delighted to see the track producing excellent racing. Top notch stuff from the boys and the track staff. WOLVES FRED - in a different class to the rest. Untouchable by an Ace. 5/5 KYLE - had a great battle with Worrall in heat 8 but continues to step it up each match. 4/5 ADAM - beyond poor. 0/5 JACOB - had to play 2nd best to Kenny in heat 3 otherwise majestic including sorting both Aces in the finale. 4.5/5 SAM - had a tough night and was hard ridden by Fricke in the 13th. 2.5/5 MAX - beat Smith twice but looked quicker as well. 1.5/5 NATHAN - his best match in a Wolves suit. Smith completely messed up bend 2 in heat 4 and killed any speed he had otherwise did his job and more beating Worrall. Sam did look after him he had already dome the hard work. No falls, steady , good gating and carried speed well. 3/5 MOTM ACES Fricke - decent after a rubbish 1st heat. In the thick of the action after that. 3.5/5 Worrall - one race wonder. Huge disappointment. 1.5/5 Bjerre - top scored as expected. Seems revitalised this season. Although couldn't touch Freddie. 3.5/5 Sedgmen - ordinary, beat no one of any ilk. 1.5/5 Cook - apparently was ill (?). Decent effort but poor points tally. 2.5/5 Bewley - a star of the future. Very impressed. 4/5 Smith - couldn't ride the track and was adrift in 2 of his heats. 0.5/5 -
