Not sure who he rode for last but he seemed to spend a lot of his career at Peterborough.

The old PL Is nearly as strong as the EL argument. It's as weak as it has ever been but still too strong for any PL team. The odd PL team might grab a win at home but would be beaten out of sight over 2 legs. Total certainty.

You Shouldn't Call People Retards. It's Offensive

You Shouldn't Call People Retards. It's Offensive

And sadly some who don't find it offensive carry on pointing out that point. Just goes to show how little respect some people have these days. Some are offended by the R word yet instead of accepting that and moving on they feel a need to keep banging on why it's not offensive. Jeez. -
Are Outside Forces At Work

I'd say the latter. Some people sadly feel they are bigger than forum rules. No conspiracy. -
No I'm not. I already stated it wouldn't bother me in the slightest. You were stating reasons why he was probably banned for the use of the 2 words. I have no idea if that's true and I'd imagine nor do you. If he WAS banned for using either word doesn't that back up my claim? my whole point is you shouldn't be calling anyone something that MIGHT offend. Not everyone agrees with homosexuality so I can see why someone MIGHT be offended. Thankfully I couldn't care less of anyone's sexuality/ethnicity/disability/gender (add whatever list you want). I embrace all decent people irregardless of the above criteria . We live in such a politically correct society these days that anything can be seen as offensive , best keep personal remarks of the forum - it won't happen with the likes of pinny around sadly.

Being straight isn't seen as an inflammatory remark which is probably the point. However I think it would have been way funnier and made more of a point IMHO.
-
That isn't the point. Plenty might be insulted to be called a homosexual. It's an accusation veiled in a witty way with no malice intended. John Cook himself may have take offence at it but that's what you get for throwing around name calling in malice or not. As already stated I don't see the need for either of the words in jest/personal attack/fun/good humour. I wouldn't be offended by it and been called far worse by less credible posters. you court debate at your own risk with a thread like that. I am still surprised he took a ban for it however as would have expected the thread being pulled or poster banned in the first 24 hrs of it going public.
-
Whereas we have posters like you who have nothing to add but insult. Perhaps the lesson learned from the ban is best not name call and insult just because you think you can. Won't stop this poster from the usual bile. I can see SCB's point all along. The way he went about it was wrong albeit trying to be clever.

In fairness there can never be a reason to defend anyone using THAT word. If that's SCB or Middlo or from anyone in a public arena IMHO.
-
nobody believes it anyway. You at least can hold your head high. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz

Unlike looking after the next British generation.

No one would ever believe MF is a total top!
-
It wouldn't surprise me if Cook was a power Bottom, one can never tell. I wouldn't believe he was a dom top tho.
-
Not the worst but in the bottom 3.
-
I'm surprised how articulate he has been in the most so far. Highly unusual for one of the forums worst spellers.

SCB quoted the Oyston case as justification of using r*tard as an insult. Then uses it himself to describe someone! its irrelevant who used it first. And thanks for proving yourself as bad as Cook for calling him a r*tard . Sorted. As already stated I think it's been used as a derogatory term in this instance. Used by both Cook and SCB in the same way. Either both are okay or both equally repellant . Choice is yours!
-
by opening a thread calling Cook a 'r*tard' you have done exactly the same thing. it's my take its used as a derogatory term these days but it's certainly born from a medical term. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intellectual_disability

Erm, I know what you did! But since when has 2 wrongs made a right! I disagree wholly with Cooks comments just to be clear, however you posted a link comparing Oyston's remarks with Cooks and you have done exactly the same thing!! Flipped or not!
-
On paper he should be but in truth besides one season he hasn't ridden anything like one. A second heat leader at best.

In which case you are just as guilty by using the same word to describe someone! One It's been turned into a derogatory term from an outdated one but as far as I'm concerned it's still a below the belt comment. Having worked in children's disability I have heard the term retard used to describe them which to me stems from old fashioned beliefs, rudeness and ignorance. Plus it's just not a pleasant word to describe anyone.
