Smederna have decided to host the Swedish final. http://ikarossmederna.se/sm-finalen-i-isracing-till-eskilstuna/ It will be held at Smederna's regular track which means that it will be a naturally frozen track. Pure madness if you ask me when you have in mind that the Swedish weather is very unpredictable even in the winter. I feel that this is a too big gamble and what happens when/if the weather changes to milder conditions? -

Formula 1 and MotoGP seems to do pretty well with their made up teams. So who cares except BSI who only seems to whine for the sake of it rather then doing something themselves. -

I don't say that they are but as long as the championship title sponsor also sponsors a few selected competitors in said series, they can never escape suspicions of bias. Especially not when those selected riders and said sponsors seems to have an ongoing "campaign" to "discredit" Nicki, who just happens to be the main rival to those riders. -

Poland 2016 Season Extraleague News
Ghostwalker replied to racers and royals's topic in International World of Speedway
Salary cap have been tested in Sweden and it was too easy to circumvent since some teams used "hidden" payment were the riders salary were paid from the sponsors rather from the team. So while the teams on paper looked like they were below the salary cap, they were in reality far over it. Salary cap works well in i.e. NHL but the players are not freelancing consultants like the speedway riders are: They players have a fixed employment with the (only) team (franchise) they are playing for, the salaries are public information and very few, if any, players have private sponsors in the same way as speedway riders do. How are you going to control a speedway riders payments? How do you determine which/how much money are private sponsorship and how much is "hidden" salary? -
Some good news. Filbyterna in Linköping who stopped with the speedway a number of years ago due to the mandatory requirement for tracks to be equipped with an airfence. They have now bought a used airfence from Elit Vetlanda and Filbyterna have also started working on the track, putting on new track material, as well as working with other minor things to get the track/arena back into a usable shape. Initially they will only use the track for practice for 80cc and 500cc. They also have plans to arrange some sort of training camps. http://www.speedwaynyheter.se/2016/01/09/filbyterna-pa-gang-igen/

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
Ghostwalker replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
To some extent I think things like parking and/or transport needs to be well functioning in order to primarily avoid loosing existing spectators and secondly to attract new fans. Smederna used to have a huge gravel parking lot which were well sufficient for the amount of spectators Smederna attracted. However when Smederna folded some idiot was very short sighted and allowed one of the other clubs at Eskilstuna Motorstadion, to out up a fence over almost the entire parking lot and later extend the go cart track into a smaller tarmac track used for go carts, drifting and mini moto. When Smederna advanced into Allsvenskan and rode their for two season, it became pretty obvious that the small parking lot wouldn't be enough. When the parking is a mess people will stay home since they are a bit comfortable. For 2015 a new parking was built behind the speedway arena but it is still too small for attendances over 3000 and there is only a small narrow gravel road leading to it so there are still lot's of queues. The good thing though is that Smederna have a bus going from the central city out to the arena (about 12km) which only costs 20SEK (~1.6) for a round trip. Another good thing is that Smederna offers the possibility to pre-purchase tickets for an individual meeting so that you can use the season ticket entrance and by that avoid the queues for the regular buy-at-the-gate entrances. -
I also know that Jacob Thorssell's sister worked in Australia (as a nurse I think) for quite a long time (maybe a year or so).

Rammstien, both you and I knows that the "Eastern Europe tourists" are citizens of the European Union and that the UK immigration authorities have no right to deny them entry to the UK.

How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
Ghostwalker replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Regarding apps and live results, I think that 15 years into the 21st century, fans should not have to provide live results by sending each other text messages which is then posted by another person on a web forum. Don't get me wrong, SU's texters and updaters are doing a very good job but surely BSPA should take care of that part themselves? Svemo's TA system is neither fast or perfect but usually it works. -

Well Imo the Danish stadiums, except maybe Esbjerg, Holstead and Vojebns the Danish arenas aren't that good. The Swedish arenas are pretty decent but far from every arena is top quality. -
How Do We Attract A New Young Audience?
Ghostwalker replied to PHILIPRISING's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
As for recruiting more fans (not just kids) to speedway. Speedway needs to be more professional. I.e. you cannot control the weather but you can be prepared for bad weather with proper equipment and track covers and etc. Too often clubs "trusts" the weather forecasts blindly rather then actually checking radar and satellite imaging to see what the weather actually is like. Then I think there should be more interactions between riders and (younger) fans. I know some riders, like Nicki P, a few times a year visits school and or day cares so that the kids can get a closer look to his bike, race suite as well as being able to ask him questions. In general I think marketing is close to abysmal, a couple of adverts in the local newspaper doesn't really make people think "wow speedway sounds really awesome, let's go check it out". This doesn't only apply to marketing but IMO clubs need to work together instead of just, short-sightedly, looking at themselves. Like in Sweden where Vetlanda are fortunate to have a local company who loads allot of money into the club which means that Vetlanda thinks that they have the right to complain that the averages is wrong and that averages needs to be scrapped despite that the situation in Poland shows that it won't work. They should rather realize that for most other teams, there are no such sponsors availabe and it's more a matter of survival (especially due to the bad weather the past season). Scrapped averages would only result in that their domination would be even bigger and that it would be a very negative factor for the sport. I also think that all the major speedway countries need to work together to develop and evolutionalize the sport, when it comes to rules, race days, technical regulations, marketing and etc. So to summarize it, there are no quick fixes but everyone needs to work together- -

There is such an app already, it is called "speedway programme". I haven't used it much though since I prefer the horizontal landscape format over the heat by heat style used by the app. However I have tested it and it works fine. Don't know if it is available for Iphone but for Android you can get it at the link below: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=pl.krygiel.speedway.programme&hl=sv -
