For a rider with a Swedish license, the participation in foreign league or meetings shall not interfere with the rider's participation in the Swedish league system or other championship meetings (which includes qualifiers to those). THJ did it a couple of years ago, he had agreed to a nomination to ride in the SGP qualifiers but then decided that it would mean that he would miss the Polish league meeting the next day so he decided to skip the qualifier which earned him a ban. It have been solved. The wild card have been recalled and the meeting have been moved to Tuesday April 19th. Which means that MJJ can ride in Poland but will have to qualify like the others. They will race for 5 available places and then a wild card will be handed out after the meeting. Västervik have bought a new airfence that can be dugged own a bit to prevent crashing riders from getting underneath it. DMU and the riders threathening to boycott next week's qualifier will meet tonight to discuss things. DMU is represented by DMU-boss Jørgen Bitsch and kommission manager Stefan Kristjansson. The riders are represented by Hans Andersen and Bjarne Pedersen. Jørgen Bitsch said that they need to be aware of the "juridical consequences" of the possible solutions that they will discuss. I don't think a federation can withdraw the riders' license just for not showing up but they can temporary suspend the rider(s) (like with the Russian SWC riders last season) and like THJ was by Svemo a couple of years ago. So if they don't ride next Friday then they might not be allowed to ride in Poland two days later but I don't think that DMU can permanently ban any rider who entered the national qualifier but failed to show up. A rider can become injured or sick and then it would be very harsh to permanently withdraw their license but as said above, DMU can temporary suspend any rider failing to show up, to prevent them from riding elsewhere instead of the qualifier.

Sure, sounds reasonable in theory but honestly do you really believe that they would have given the wild card to lets say Mikkel Michelsen or Mikkel Bech over MJJ or PK? I would think that they wouldn't have done that. What if Mikkel Michelsen or Mikkel Bech would have become injured or sick and thus unable to ride in the Danish qualifiers? Then they would have been without any chance of participating in the SGP/SEC qualifiers this season just because SK/DMU decided to give the wild card to someone who preferred to ride in an foreign league meeting instead of the qualifiers. They should keep the wild card but to be eligible for it, the rider would have to enter the qualifiers unless becoming sick or injured but in that case he would not be allowed to ride for two So have the qualifier first, then based on the qualifier results, hand a wild card to anyone of those who missed out.

Well I say let MJJ ride in Poland but make it clear that if he does he will not be riding in the SGP/SEC qualifiers. That would set a precedence for future cases should any rider considered skipping the national qualifiers in favour of foreign league meeting. I do agree with the riders that the wild card primarily should be for a riders that misses out due to injury or etc and secondly for any other riders that rides in the national qualifiers but fails to be among those who finish on a qualification slot.

It's a nice idea but to be fair though, it's probably difficult to find a suitable piece of land close enough to the cities to be easily accessible by car or public transport but still not too close so cause noise complaints from nimbys. Then even if you would such piece of land would be available there is cost associated by building a new track, not only the construction cost itself but also permits and consultants and etc.

I didn't see this meeting since I was occupied with other things but I agree with you and Motoarena Torun almost always offers good racing.

I am not sure but I think he have had allot of problems with injuries the past couple of seasons which probably means that no league team is willing to take any chances with such a rider.

IMO many of those who complain see it (or both SBPC and SEC) as a "threat" to the British league model with meetings on every day of the week and thus also a direct threat to British speedway.

1. O.S. where forced by FIM so they didn't have much choice other ten going sponsor teams. 2. MotoGP also have sponsor named teams. Does that make MotoGP a nonsense competition? Of course not. Speedway will go down that route sooner or later anyway when it comes to championship series (world/euro and etc).. However I agree that the teams should be "fixed" with the same riders named for the entire season.

Västervik have re-constructed their track by making the bends banked as well as putting a new shale (same kinds as in Kumla) on the track. Wow really? Hardly rocket science. The weather in April is always (almost anyway) terrible, that is why there is an expression called April weather. Terrible weather in May is slightly less guaranteed but hardly uncommon.
