It is not stealing since Danny Smith haven't actually taken anything and have no intention of keeping it. The original stream/broadcast is still in BT sports possession. Stealing requires something to no longer be in the owner's possession and an intent for the one who took it to keep it.

I would assume that the stream would be blocked in those countries that have a television deal Live streaming of live events on YouTube isn't really something new, DTM have done i for years, Airbus have done the same with important events such as press conferences and first flights for new Aircraft models.
