Preview Swedish 2010 Season
Ghostwalker replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
Getingarna had been away from league speedway a few seasons when they returned last season. Then a month/month and a half ago there were suddenly news about that Getingarna had pulled out and that they had offer their place in Allsvenskan to Eskilstuna Tigers. However Svemo rejected this because their rules didn't allow that new teams started in Allsvenskan (despite that both Hammarby and Getingarna have been allowed to do just that). Anyway as a result of this Getingarna changed their mind and have decided to participate in allsvenskan. -
its the same in Sweden, the majority of the tracks are still covered with half a meter of snow.

Svemo have rejected Eskilstuna Speedway's plans on taking over Getingarna's place in Allsvenskan. Svemo says that they have to follow their paragraphs. This means that Allsvenskan will only have 5 teams next season and that Svemo might have to re-do the fixtures. Another problems is that Dackarna had a partner deal with Getingarna and several of Dackarna's riders were put in Getingarnas squad riders that now probably have to be transferred to Dackarna's squad and miss out on riding in allsvenskan. In 2003 or 2004 Hammarby (Bajen) speedway was allowed to take over team Bikab's place in Allsvenskan and Bajen were a new team that hadn't participated in the Swedish series system before. -

Rospiggarna are now a total independent club. Rospiggarna have like Vargarna previously been a part of a larger "general" motorsport club with several types of motorsports in the same organisation. But now MK Orion have "sold" all their stocks in Rospiggarna Speedway AB (AB =~INC/LtD) to a new club named Rospiggarna Speedway. Both parts thought it was the best because of the difference between the speedway branch and the other forms of motorsport in MK Orion, especially the economic part. http://www.norrteljetidning.se/sport/artiklar/id/14748 -

The Horns Of A Dilemma

body { background: #FFFFFF; margin: 0px; padding: 4px; font-family: Verdana, arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10pt; } What if a rider, who have entered the Qualification progress gets injured in a qualification semifinal? Because of the injury he misses out on advancing to GP challenge and also fails to reach top 8 in the GP standings. Another question is if there are room for all 15 riders in the qualification progress? As they all have to enter the qualis since they cant know , when the season starts, if they will be top 8 at the end of the GP season. Or should they have an extra end of season challenge for the 9-15th placed rider + the top 9 from the gp challenge? Perhaps for a start they should be more restrictive to who they hand out WCs? Maybe a rider should'nt be able to have one two years in a row unless he is a rider who meets the criteria above for being inside top 8+ enters the qualis but gets injured and misses out on both top8 + GPC? I Agree that riders (like Freddie and Harris and Nicholls in recent years) shouldn't be able to rely on WCs several years in a row but remember that Emil S was a Wild Card rider last season. So i thinks its nothing wrong with the system but rather the way the system is used? -

Grand Prix Series
Ghostwalker replied to sprocketrocket's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
in what way is the gp affecting the league speedway by having a gp every 2nd week? I haven't noticed anything. i do not think that a couple of more GPs would change anything especially not with my suggestion to move some of the GPs to parts of the season/year when the racing is a bit less intense to be able to have more gps with a 3 week interval instead of 2 weeks when the racings is more intense. -
Grand Prix Series

i disagree with that. How can it be far too many? if we would have any fewer there would hardly be a series. I would like 10-15 GPs per season, with one GP every 2nd-3rd week. I also would like to replace 1 of the Swedish & Danish Gps and 2 of Polish gps with GPs in warmer countries to take advantage of the warmer temperatures in March-April-October-November. -

then we have a situation like F1 or WRC where money comes before skill regarding the available rider positions in the teams. In WRC and F1 a driver (lets call the him/her "X") can, to some extent, "buy" him/her-self a place in a team even if there are better drivers (y, Z) available simply because X can bring more sponsor money into the team then Y or Z. -

yes that's is correct. Although the definite rules are not know yet. Meaning its unclear if T1 and T2 will be allowed to choose which team they will race against at home and which teams to meet away, Other news is that Magnus "Zorro" Zetterström married his longtime partner Annelie Dyplin a short while ago. -

I think it depends on the holiday. "regular" holidays would surely work fine but Midsummer is a very special holiday in Sweden so I have to agree with the teams that don't think its a good idea. -

Apparently several Division 1 teams, among them Gasarna and Stjärnorna, are very unpleased with the current fixture list for division 1. They say that they have too many home meetings on Saturdays and Sundays and that some of these meetings will conflict with other events and holidays like Midsummer and the U21 World Champs. The fixtures are also said to have been decided by Svemo without consulting the teams because the referees wanted to have the dates in time for their planning meeting. http://www.masarna.nu/webbpytt.cgi?id=20178 Again there is a conflict between the two speedway clubs in Eskilstuna. This time the conflict is about a rider named Mikael Åstrand who have decided that he wanted to ride for the new club since he realized that he probably wouldn't get to ride so much with Ikaros Smederna. Ikaros Smederna on the other hand claims that they have a verbal agreement with Mikael Åstrand which he denies. IMO even if there was a verbal agreement Ikaros Smederna should realize that those kind of agreements aren't worth anything and that only think that counts is the riders signature on a contract. Personally i am so tired of the conflicts that have been around Smederna. This is far from the first conflict and i doubt that it will be the last.
