  1. On the plus side, none of the riders is higher ranked than the one they are replacing!!
  2. Isn't that just what speedway in UK is?
  3. Richard started the season on an average of 6.50 (achieved mainly as a second string as others have pointed out) and, after 3 home and 4 away meetings as a 'top 3' rider is averaging 6.45 - give the guy some credit.
  4. Safe night for all concerned - result secondary.
  5. You will be hard pushed to find anyone at Lakeside who has anything other than total respect for PK. The facts were that he was struggling to produce his 'normal' form, was being paid 'No. 1 money' and producing No 4 points. Lakeside run a tight ship (to ensure long term survival) and that sort of financial scenario could not be continued and I am pretty sure that the parting of the waves was, indeed, amicable. PK is too much of a gentleman not to realise he was not producing value for money at that time.
  6. Does anyone know just what the riders get for riding in GPs? I seem to recall, and I may be wrong here, that it isn't that much and unless they are really successful, participation may actually cost them.
  7. Message to fans - don't go to GPs and wait to see what happens.
  8. A couple of GPs held in front of empty terraces and the organisers might just begin to start thinking of the fans who keep the whole fiasco going!
  9. The incidence of such things is the difference - whereas Lakeside very occasionally become involved in controversy - Poole are serial offenders!
  10. He may not even complete all his GP rides on Saturday! We are getting ahead of ourselves here.
  11. I don't understand the lights issue - it was, I believe, the 'outside' set (as opposed to the centre green towers) that went off. The centre green lights are more than adequate for track lighting (indeed, years ago, the other set didn't exist) with the perimeter lighting doing more to illuminate the stock car track bends than the shale surface.
  12. That is a virtual pre-requisite given the paucity of suitable guests in the scenario I outlined earlier - very limited (suitable) guest pool at present i.e. UK based riders.
  13. I am not sure I follow your logic - you propose a solution and then shoot it down. Given there are only 8 EL teams, the ability to draw on suitable guests is somewhat constrained and made even worse when other EL meetings are taking place at the same time.
  14. 14 riders (including 5 'guests') - only in speedway (and before anyone has a pop), yes it is unfortunate circumstances at play.
  15. Sort of infers you might be mentioning Lakeside as well.
  16. And two woeful performances in a row from Mr Bech.
  17. I can understand the comments re Lakeside 'not turning up' etc but the reality was they were outgated in most heats and soon realised no matter what their efforts the track was not going to give them any chance of bettering their position. Little point in engine wear and tear for no purpose. Give a rider a track he can race on and race he might.
  18. Much like your repeated 'dislike of Lakeside' posts. Everyone knows your opinion by now so repeats are unnecessary.
  19. Normally £24.50 - so it does seem to be 'good value'.
  20. Two meetings announced and one team appearing in both of them - a sign of things to come (or could one say continue from earlier years)?
  21. Kim Nilsson is a Lakeside asset (and, given some of the riders on the original list, you could probably add Josh Larsen as well)..
  22. Didn't Workington 'exercise' a buy back clause put in the original sale contract to Lakeside? Do not think it is an instance of Lakeside not paying - they do not do things like that.
