  1. Of course they don't (juries) but given that they decided one party was innocent and the other guilty, consent (implied) and no consent accordingly, is the only logical reasoning they could have used.
  2. The reason the jury came to the verdicts they did is quite clearly outlined by Halifax Tiger - implied consent vis-a-vis the first man and a total absence of same re Evans. The CCTV would appear to show she was extremely drunk (confirmed by the Night Porter) and, given that people have differing levels of tolerance to alcohol, the 'expert witness' testimony can be viewed accordingly.
  3. So a 6.00 EL rider goes in to PL @ 8.24 and An 8.24 PL goes into the EL @ 5.04 Simples!
  4. Adam's Lakeside average in 2014 was 5.10 (home) and 5.24 (away).
  5. Charlie should not be criticised for standing by her principles in this matter and, as others have said, she is not alone in exercising them. I have my own views as to why the jury came to the decisions it did. Evans is fortunate in that his girlfriend has forgiven him for: - attending, at short notice, a specific hotel room - taking sexual advantage of a female who, apparently, was in no fit state to consent or otherwise to what then occurred - then slipped out the back of the hotel to avoid 'being recognised' by anyone (tacit admission that he was a 'personality' in the area) It is difficult to see just what he can come up with to prove his 'innocence'.
  6. I believe Jim Lawrence has opened a can of worms here - this sort of move is seen time and time again in racing and, in the main, the rider on the outside shuts off. Are we now to believe that causing an opponent to shut off merits an exclusion? How many times have we heard the expression 'he left him nowhere to go' from the likes of the presenting duo? It was a hard race and Kim had been on the wrong end of some robust riding earlier in the heat - what goes round comes round. Anyway, good to see Kim has some fire in his belly and I look forward to seeing him strut his stuff at Purfleet for the Hammers.
  7. That is the problem - it is NOT our sport. All we have at risk is our entrance money. The owners (promoters) are the ones fronting up the big monies (don't they have to lodge bonds to guarantee a certain sum at the outset) and meeting the considerable expenses of staging meetings etc. Sensible promoters set themselves a budget (with contingency) and then attempt to operate within said figure. Wealthy promoters are able to indulge themselves by treating speedway as a sideline with 'profit' not the prime consideration. Businesses, in general, will only publish that which they have to by law.
  8. Any chance of the 'password' so we can tinker with it SCB?
  9. 'Accepting' - the trophy must have been delivered by the Starship Enterprise!
  10. Continuing to call is 'Elite' might have led to a complaint under the Trade Descriptions Act!
  11. Theoretically, what with Sky losing some European (Champions League) matches to BT, I would expect my subscription to come down!
  12. TV money 'distorts' the economics of the sport and can also be a malign influence regarding the introduction of 'gimmicks' (not all gaining universal fan approval). The promoters would do well to formulate their business models without reliance on TV monies (which may well not materialise anyway) - they also need to interact better with the their fan base.
  13. Given that it was probably the most controversial meeting ever broadcast by Sky, I would have thought you would have obtained a copy from somewhere. You would then be able to draw your own conclusions vis-a-vis a 'conspiracy' - the state of the track was only one of many issues that evening.
  14. Hopefully it will make up for all the ones you didn't get for the Aces v Pirates fiasco on Sept 9th!!
  15. Tsunami probably thinks the Aces v Pirates shambles was a good advert for speedway!
  16. Well, if Sky were responsible, either wholly or in part, for 9th September at Belle Vue, then I for one, hope they push off never to return. The stink of corruption that evening was overwhelming.
  17. Not much hope when the farce that was Belle Vue v Poole on 9 September last appears to have the 'blessing' of all that run speedway in this country.
