  1. I do not believe the club are considering moving 'elsewhere' in Essex. Getting a council 'on board' is a key requirement in establishing a new build and Thurrock Council are sending out positive vibes i.e. they are keen to keep speedway in their area. Lakeside Hammers may have to become Thurrock Hammers in due course but that is a small price to pay for the continuation of speedway.
  2. What a crass comment. JC was Vice Chair for a while but, as others have pointed out, real leadership has been lacking and the tail continues to wag the dog.
  3. And what do you think would have come of it if they had?
  4. No harm at all in blaming said two but, as acknowledged, they were just the instigators. Personally, I don't like the TR (because of the 'joker points' nature of it) neither does Jon Cook but a majority in BSPA towers seem to want it.
  5. Disingenius as usual. It is the collective BSPA that lets Poole get away with all manner of crap - the Lakeside promotion know the score so little point in pursuing an issue when you know it will come to nothing. As for the TR - yes, it may have been an initiative originating from said source but it still needed agreement from the rest to become reality.
  6. It does seem strange that the missing deflector wasn't spotted earlier. I would have thought it was in the referee's start line check list - everyone in the right place etc The cynical amongst us might suggest it wasn't in Lakeside's interest to spot it at the outset! All that said, it was a good meeting racing wise and, from my position on the back straight, Lambert's move on Bech looked downright dangerous.
  7. Lambert was 'first' in Heat 14 and disqualified after the race was over. Most around me had a 3 - 3 in our programmes!
  8. Not suggesting the track was prepared to suit Poole are you?
  9. No mention of 'rider safety' anywhere. Did they issue a statement following the Belle Vue v Poole farce in September 2013? All we want now is for Mick Horton to say his mobile was on all the time!
  10. The only people responsible for last night are those that run speedway in UK. If Sky have an undue influence it is because promoters have agreed to it as part of the contract.
  11. Hence the 'hey ho' in my post. The reference to multi angle would appear to infer it is aimed primarily at exclusion scenarios - you don't need multi angles for a well placed camera on the start line.
  12. A merged EL/PL split on a regional basis with an NL beneath it. That would satisfy the promotion's desire to compete at the highest level.
  13. A mixed reaction as expected. A few saying JC says one thing then does the opposite etc. he is part of the problem etc. JC is but one member of the promoters' club (BSPA) - if not sufficient others believe in his ideas/proposals then they will not happen - is that his fault? Jon wanted Hammers' fans to get the detail of the Fans Forum prior to general release and posting on the Club's website (as happened later), would have circumvented that desire. Was he right to do it this way, opinions may differ but it was his choice. As one who attended the Forum, it was clear that there are elements within BSPA who are not 'forward/greater picture looking' and that JC is banging his head against a brick wall (outvoted) etc when trying effect meaningful change. I certainly got the impression he is just as frustrated as many of the fans. To both his, and the Lakeside promotions' credit, he does at least put himself up to engaging with fans in an open and constructive way.
  14. That sounds more related to on track incidents rather than start/finish line positions but hey ho etc.
  15. Most, if not all, video cameras have a monitor/screen! Frank Ebdon consulted the Re-run video footage some years ago to inform his decision making. Not all teams get a wide range of guests to chose from - it so depends on who else is racing at the same time and/or available. Last night's BV team make up (and the Hammers' at Wolves) just make a mockery of British EL Speedway. The defeat will not impact what Lakeside achieve (or not) league-wise this year but it could well impact on their financial viability.
  16. I like Ben and he rode well last night but only Barbara Horley thought he beat Adam in Heat 2. Standing on the backstraight opposite the start line, everyone had filled in their programmes as a 2 - 4 with Adam second. In speedway terms, it wasn't even that close. It is on the Hammers' website http://www.lakesidehammers.co/the-cook-report/
  17. The weather also plays a part to the non-diehard fans.
  18. Kus guests for AJ. The latter has clearly suffered a reaction to his GP efforts, 1 from 2 rides in Poland indicates he is far from fully recovered from his knee injury!
  19. The 'you' refers to our infamous Team Manager - I don't think anybody in the crowd would have picked him!
  20. Lakeside are NOT moving to Kent (per JC's comments at last night's fans forum).
  21. Perhaps, in the absence of anything else, Kent is the 'fall back track' should the Arena circuit close.
  22. I am very far from 'deluded' thank you - I said 'possibly' - if it does come to pass - then I hope your 'usual incentives' work. There is no guarantee that they will and, just because Lakeside have a poor season (we have had them before) is no real reason to speculate that we will not run EL in the future.
  23. In which case, there will possibly be no EL at all.
