Given the lack of transparency in speedway BSPA/SCB - it is impossible to know whether or not proposals were made, voted upon/rejected etc. All we get is the 'compromise' arrived at for the season ahead. Those that run speedway suffer from a complete lack of faith in the people they most rely on to sustain their businesses - the fans. The fact there is never an explanation or reasoning given to decisions re rulings/appeals etc only fosters suspicion that there is indeed something to hide.

Every one obeying them would be a good start together with consistent interpretation of same. Although, with regard to the latter, removing the need for 'interpretation' at all should be high on the list.

No Double Points On Final ? Better Or Worse?
TonyE replied to Mixy230's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I am OK with no double points in the final feeling very much that qualifying for the semis and then the final gives riders an extra opportunity to garner more points. There are parallels with the much maligned 'Joker' and no doubling makes, in my opinion, the points gained more 'honest'. As others have said, it should keep the series more competetive. -

The accompanying action photos are predominently Premier League.

I thought Connor Dwyer acquitted himself well - scored at least a point in each of his rides and looked quite tidy.

Perhaps Brandon's experience in his third ride influenced the decision - did he have mechanical problems (he certainly 'retired' in Heat 11)?

Dream Come True For Some. Ole Is Going....
TonyE replied to iris123's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Politics - flannel - idle talk. What promotes a sport is that it is exciting to watch; something which, by and large, has been totally missing with the kind of tracks Olson has been serving up over the years. Rather than concentrate their minds on expanding the product to other areas, they should be looking at how they can improve the existing one! -
Is Scotty Really Good Enough For The Sgp
TonyE replied to geeze's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Back to the thread - on tonight's performance definitely not. He ought to be made to qualify next year - no more wildcards/nominations. -

Formula One Changes
TonyE replied to mickthemuppet's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
F1 just doesn't do anything for me. They might just as well get all teams to do a pit stop with full wheel change, re-fuel identical quantities and then see who can get out of the pit lane the quickest! -
Italian Gp, Lonigo - 27 September 2008
TonyE replied to Bezza's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
I believe the referee got all the major decisions right - a couple were 'percentage' ones and, for once, rider nationality didn't seem to influence him. As for Lukas Dryml , what can I add, probably the most disgusting attempt to 'fence' an opponent in a long time. Fortunately, he wasn't good enough to do it properly (scrubbed off all his speed in the process) and Scott's skill and momentum saw him get in front. I would not have been surprised if Scott had 'decked' him after that but he showed commendable restraint given the circumstances. -

As are most of the temporary tracks. Do we really have to wait until a rider is seriously injured (or worse) before giving up on these highly dangerous surfaces? -
Referee Needs To Go To Specsavers
TonyE replied to sirmattyisbac's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Polish pillock! The guy is an absolute disgrace and should never be let near another speedway meeting in any sort of official capacity. -
Dryml should have been excluded in my opinion. I cannot see that Freddie did anything wrong at all. He dropped his left shoulder to go under Drynl's right elbow and, having achieved it, Dryml moves out and takes him out. Referee needs to go to Specsavers!

Final Gp, From Germany
TonyE replied to Steve Turner's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
They are all accomplished professional speedway riders and, therefore, they don't need to practice (and thereby ruin the track) the day before. No one practices - all start equal. -
Dutch Grand Prix

Oh no not another one - there are too many now. Lets have one every week then we can do away with domestic leagues! -
An American Gp!

Why don't we have a GP every week? There are too many of the bl**dy things already. We need less not more. -

Real rubbish track - no real overtaking possibilities (other than rider mistakes or, riders being thrown off line). These major spectacles are becoming an embarassment - what should be a golden opportunity to promote the sport is being wasted indeed, the processional nature of the event is actually counter productive. You have a bunch of talented riders/racers and what do they get to race on - may as well have been a railway line. Was Ole Olsen involved? Anyway, there should be less GPs not more - rant over. 100,000 Congratulations to AJ -
I would agree with that 100%. Billy and Sam indicated that the track had a reputation for cutting up easily so the problem is a long-standing one which would appear to have been neglected for a similar length of time. It was fortunate that AJ's accident, if you can call it that, was the only one. It is the riders who put their lives at risk and it is for them to demand that action should be taken. The ultimate sanction from them would be to refuse to ride if they consider it dangerous.
