22.09.2023 - Playoff SF, Scunny vs Poole
scunny1 replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Nice to see the Poole fans back tracking and making excuses already. There are several EWR track specialists among the Pirates and it all comes down to who stays upright, who stays within the rules and who has the biggest desire. This match is a very hard one to call and is anyone's guess on the result. Personally a Scorpions v Bears final , is the best outcome for me! -
Nice to see Pirates fans already writing the Scorpions off, we like to be the under dogs. Look at our side. Ryan Douglas not topping the averages for nothing. MPT just coming back to form after a two month break. Lambo riding his socks off everywhere. Jake , always a dark horse capable of big wins. Connor due a big score. Drew, could be an ace at Reserve. Finally Nathan, lots to prove to the club that let him go. If we keep it close on this leg, its ours for the taking at the EWR.

Watching the GP rider under performing was very embarrassing, but local lad, Luke Harrison, did so much better than him too.

Scunthorpe Vs Poole 11/8/23

Well done Pirates on winning an entertaining meeting, however Scorpions threw it away. Ablitt and Mountain had bad meetings, our guest put them to shame. Hindsight is wonderful, but everyone around me expected MPT to contest heat 15. -
Weather map shows rain in 10 minutes.
-
Well that will not happen because its Stock cars at the EWR on the 22nd.
-
Rather concentrate on league fixtures and leave the fill in events as lower priority. Nobody (apart from the winners) remembers who won what cup, but most recall who won the league title.

Plenty of time to change, but Friday weather forecast not looking very favourable. -

His mum and grandma and various aunts and uncles still live in the Scunthorpe area -which is now North Lincolnshire, as Humberside was abolished decades ago.

Good to see Drew Kemp riding at Ully's farewell meeting, so no serious injury from Friday night. -

As predicted Masters has a decent meeting and Rider Replacement cost us dear. Hindsight is wonderful but a guest was the obvious choice with no other teams riding tonight. Why was Jake in the super heat instead of Lambo? All night he was under powered and going backwards down the straights-another Manager dubious decision. -

Another potential banana skin for us. All go well around the EWR apart from Masters who surely must have a good meeting here at some point. We need MPT back asap. -
Scunny v Redcar 02.06.2023 league

So basically you agree, no excuse Redcar choosing gate positions. You would be better off analysing positions after second bend i.e after bunching and initial cut backs had settled out. -
Scunny v Redcar 02.06.2023 league
scunny1 replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Changing gate positions every heat ,so coin toss is really not that important. I think prior to the start, everyone both home and away supporters expected a close finish. Charles Wright probably had his worst meeting at the EWR, usually he is top notch. Scorpions just had their race heads on all night, but it was alarming not looking out for each other when in front. Heat 14 was lost by Jake because he was nursing his team mate around- not a bad thing, but it definitely cost him a win. So we have a 20 point advantage ,but we have blown so many points away at Redcar we cannot be complacent. -
Good signing in Drew Kemp, I've only been asking for him since November. Rob eventually listens and gets the right message.

Edinburgh v Scunthorpe Championship 26/5/23

Tough one for the Scorpions with a 5 man team. Some heats will be very weak for us tonight. -
Well that's pretty obvious, the two signings after 28 days will be gone. Rob said on the Poole stream" he is looking for riders out of the box". Does that translate as someone from over the water???
-
Well we need some rain offs so we can get rid of these 28 day wonder signings. For Lambo saying he likes the Glasgow track and goes well there, then that was always going to be his kiss of death. MPT and Jake need to find some consistency quickly too. Beginning to feel like our season is over already, but I'm sure Rob has another plan.... When is Garrity due out? Soon be time to bring back Mr Scunthorpe too!

12.05.2023 - Scunny v Glasgow BSN Series SF L1
scunny1 replied to ScunnyDan's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Congrats to Glasgow Tigers, strength in depth from their 1to 5 was superior to ours. Apart from Ryan, Lambo and Connor it was a poor show from our team. MPT and Jake Allen are blowing hot and cold and look underpowered and relying on trying to blast around the outside and going backwards as a result. The newbies actually looked better than their points tally. I don't think for a minute we will be tracking the same 1 to 7 in a months time, if we have any ambition left. -

MPT was supposed to be having a practice session mid week to iron out his machinery problems. It makes sense that the two new signings also took the opportunity to get some laps in around the EWR at the same time-don't know if this actually happened? -

The way we throw points down the drain on away trips, even if we have a 20 point lead from the first leg the Tigers would still probably win.
