Congrats to the Pirates , a job well done and some classy riders. First visit to Northside and viewing as a neutral. Good viewing ,a bit strange spectators split in two halves, but a sterling job in setting up the track. The racing itself was mostly from the gate and outcome settled prior to 3rd bend with riders well strung out. The track itself stood up to the morning weather, but only in the latter heats did anyone venture from the inside line around the bends. Apart from the track announcer, the interviews were inaudible to people in the back straight stand. Hopefully the sparse crowd will improve and the promotion goes from strength to strength, well done. p.s. Lbw were you sitting in the back straight stand with the Lawson hoodie on?

Scunthorpe v Oxford 1st leg semi final
scunny1 replied to scunny1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Very poor performance from certain riders! Can't believe being 10points up after 4 heats and Rob grades the track! Should have left it alone like he nearly always does. After track grade, we went backwards. Yet again we do all the hard work on the bends for away riders to breeze past on the straights. Lets pray for rain and a heavy track at Oxford next week for any chance of going through to the final. -
Don't know what's happening with our Press Officer, who also happens to be involved with Oxford, but nobody can be bothered to start a new topic?? With Heeps back in the line up, this will be a close one to call. For Scorpions, we need a much better team effort and MPT plus Ablitt need to score more. We are so inconsistent, this could be a right drubbing, or a good lead to take to Oxford in the 2nd leg. Anybody's guess which way tonight's match will go.

Well done Pirates, your four heat leaders just so strong. I suggest whoever is tuning the Pirates engines the Scorpions seek out and use their services. On several occasions we were doing the hard work to gain advantage on the bends, just for the Pirates to breeze past on the straights. A lacklustre performance by the Scorpions and maybe the kick up the backside they needed before the Oxford encounters.

Sheffield vs Ipswich 2024 Cup Final Sept 2nd

Just watched the stream and disappointed all races were won by the 2nd bend exit. Thankfully I see far more passing at the EWR every week. -

Well done Scorpions a solid team performance. Nine point lead to take back to the EWR fortress for the 2nd leg. -
Monarchs v Scorpions BSN 1st leg

It is on Monarch's stream, EMTV. -
Not much interest in this one so it seems? Both sides with normal 1 to 7s. With Glasgow rained off and winds blowing rain clouds towards Edinburgh, will it go ahead? Hoping for the Scorpions to steal a win ,or at least keep it close, so we can win the 2nd leg.

Poole Pirates vs Scunthorpe Scorpions 7th August
scunny1 replied to lbw's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Our stand in manager was mad giving Lambert heat 15, it should have been Nathan, or Jake instead. Last two meeting Lambert has failed to score in heat 15. -
You would be sober at the EWR then, as we let the track develop and only grade during a track watering Saves Rob on fuel bills too!

Speakers in car park are great, perhaps we should all run out there to listen to scores and interviews between races. As above poster said, we have put up with poor P.A.system for years, both outside and in the after meeting presentation.
-
Can the club sort out the P.A. system as it is awful ,especially the one facing the stand after the start finish. Can the announcer, the result announcer and the DJ also have some system between them so they are not playing music and trying to talk over one another. On a positive ,the scoreboard and count down are working well. Rant over.

Gino was a liability riding for us and his head was not always in the right place.

They can all redeem themselves tonight after the dire performance at Poole. Just beat Workington convincingly, take the bonus and we can try and forget midweek.

Edinburgh Vs Scunthorpe (Championship) 21/6/24

No guests available ,or Rob saving money? Prove me wrong, but I despair sometimes and question club's ambition with Rider Replacement on away trips. -

It is a general comment, that older bones are more prone to fracture and its a fact take longer to heal, but you see every comment as cannon fodder. -

We all know Speedway riders are tough, but there comes a point after loads of falls, fractures etc, that the body is more prone to failing. Best wishes to Rory ,but age and quick healing are not on his side. -

Back to the match, even without Rory's injury, Berwick were sadly lacking. Kerr was fine and Kemp did ok but, the remainder were dire. Gilkes is off form , Hume had a poor one and Starke spent too much time on his rear. For us another, very solid performance all around.
