I would suggest its a few more ticket sales for the GP organisers-well certainly 2 this end If sales for the GP suddenly rocket this week when people realise that Chas And Dave are safely tucked away and pre booked in Dunstable because of this thread then I hope the Gp organisers will do the right thing and give me a certain percentage of increased sales commision -

As an aside should one of the organisers let this site know that they have their start times a tad wrong by an hour?? http://www.walesdirectory.co.uk/events/event.php?id=264 -

Top Tier At Cardiff Sold Out?
Nevs replied to lastword's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
Aint that right!!! Yeah sort of- then jump over a fair few rows of seats. Bleedin security, the way he spoke to me you would have thought we were trying to escape from East Germany about 25 years ago!! He said Go and sit back down in the seats you have been allocated. Maybe using your stealth skills again this year SCB It was hardly standing room only the seats we were allocated in the first place--all we wanted to do was go and chat with others!!! Bleedin jobsworth-he was on the next set of steps to the left, lurking,I think we must have been his only "customers" that day-He probably had a chip on his shoulder he was not allocated a main stair way or summit. Bet he went home and told his missus he had had a stressful day and had had to put a few Exeter fans firmly in their place..... -
Usa National Speedway 2008 - 2009 Televised Series
Nevs replied to tapesuptv's topic in International World of Speedway
Pleased about this, when I saw it on the Exeter forum today it seemed to suggest we would have to subscribe,on checking our virgin media TV channels after they offered us XL TV free and large broadband it seems Motors Tv is indeed included!--Looking forward to this. -
Exeter wise- 1973 11.29 ,1974 10.88,In 1975, Ivan went on to finish on an 11.52 average and in 1976 it was 10.86 from 33 matches. In 1977, he went on to record 10.5 from 32 before his decision to move on and he was to switch to Hull in a reported deal worth £15,000. Considering Exeter City football club sold Tony Kellow to Blackpool for £65,000 in 1980 I reckon Hull got Ivan a tad on the cheap side-no disrespect to Tony mind you. 1984 8.08 (23 home meetings only!!)--Remember that well and what a stir it caused at the time.-Special dispensation took on a totally new meaning. Average facts taken from Chris Byles excellent site. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/speedwayyears/mauger.html

Well worth getting if this link is still accurate and the double DVD still available for those fans that may wish to see The Falcons over the years from the start to the end of 2005-must get the DVDs out and watch it again.--4 Hours of fence hitting action and a life time of memories and before = for £15 quid-bargain The End Of Era DVD one wasn't half good as well. http://www.rerunproductions.co.uk/super7evens.html

All too well-Big Sister passed me down a Martin Ashby green faded thing -said it was an honour whilst Dad got her a spanking new Scott Autrey one-was well chuffed at the time as a hand me down on my British Leyland Jacket but think she was just humouring me being 5 years younger and trying to keep me quiet-Why the hell should I wear a Martin Ashbey rosette when I couldnt remember ever seeing him race apart from the odd Bank Holiday meeting just cos big sister told me to. I dont hold grudges 35 odd years later but I wanted a Scott Autrey one and current like she had. I wore the Martin Ashby one until about 1980 Also used to have a Falcons triangular felt pennent mounted on the handlebars of my push bike whilst playing cards attached to the back forks of the bike with clothes pegs that used to clatter whilst you peddeled along. Those were the days.......

Goog passed away early 2005,but still was a regular until about a season or 18 months before he became ill and could be found every week at the top bar in The County Ground whenever Exeter raced, still mixing it with the likes of Jack Geran and Bob Coles and exchanging banter. I never had the fortune to see him race but I always found him a very polite, quiet gentleman who would always say hello and would pass the time of day with you.

Was way before my time, but whenever I talk to people 15 or 20 years older than me about Exeter speedway these days they mention "they used to go" 9 times out of ten they mention The Rogers brothers, Goog Hoskins,Bronco Slade, Jack Geran, Neil Street. It's like legends etched into their minds and quite rightly so from what they say.And then they seem to lose 20 odd years and for some reason never ever bothered going again. There was a dear chap I met at the Civil service club in Exeter and he was there at the very first meeting and vividly every Sunday lunchtime when I chatted to him he would ask about the speedway and recall the White Ghost and the other death on the same day every single time I talked to him, then go home to sunday lunch with his wife.-He had so many tales to tell. Fascinating stuff to listen to and wish I had been around in those days. You cant seem to get away from the legends. Thankfully through Chris Byles site and the likes of Tony Lethbridge with his tales its fascinating to read about the past and in some way relate to what the older generation at the time I was not even born into relate to and how things have changed and how much respect these people have for the sport and its local history. Roger brothers info on here from an Exeter perspective for anyone that fancies taking a peak-not teaching anyone to suck eggs but for those that ask questions and may not have seen it before (not you older guys on here obviously-but for any newbies that may find their way in here accidently looking for the latest ban Ben Powell, or where has Subedei gone, and why was the shale wet in Germany thread,_ --spend hours on there reading it all up-Very interesting reading through the whole site. http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/speedwayyears/pager.html Especially when you go to the bottom of the page and hit HOME and see what else is on there.

Disgraceful-So feel for the fans that have paid hundreds or thousands of pounds and for many possibly their only holiday of the year-cant see a refund of ticket and a free one for a BSI GP making it up that much. If it had been at an outdoor track then sure, you know you may just possibly run the risk of a rain off--But an indoor one?? Just beggers belief. From Conkers photos shown earlier was that a press conference shown after it was cancelled, or from an earlier one? Has anybody actually to people's knowledge, actually faced a TV crew to explain what has happened apart from the one statement ? I know it isnt Formula 1 but surely there must be something somewhere to watch someone involved explain things and how they have turned out as they have today in terms of on camera-they are quick enough at the end of a GP normally to get views etc. Surely it hasnt been just a statement and leaflets at the gate.

As far as I recall Pete and Bonn(possible nickname) were cousins of my dad,and I remember as a kid watching them at Exeter when dad took me and were track graders or mechanics was in the Ivan Mauger/Scott Autrey days-They lived at Newton St Cyres and remember meeting both many years ago and their parents Uncle Bert and Auntie Evie if I recall right. I remember Pete as a rather large chap with a beard and a mechanic in blue overalls and Bon as the quieter of the two and a raker-am sure I saw him 20 years ago and he said hi but not sure If I remember rightly from the tales I was told as a kid Pete helped Pete Prinsloo?? Any memories would be great and if either are still alive would love to get in touch. Thanks for any help

Bart, You asked for comments and feedback, don't feel you have to justify yourself and explain for any criticism for each track you played, just take the comments on board good and bad. You must have spent hundreds of hours working on that covering every possible scenario--You will never please all of the people all of the time-no point trying to defend yourself. We did the last Exeter meeting and I know how hard that was to try and tie everything up-took hours and hours of planning and late nights let alone what you achieved Saturday night. Always remember the time an irate lady aged about 75 opened the door to the press box looked 12 year old mini Nevs in the eye ans said simply "Less rap crap" and shut the door and wandered off to get a burger Dont be put off chap but also dont feel you have to defend yourself-you asked for comments so absorb those comments and move on from there-in the main seems most people are in favour of the atmosphere you tried to create last night and hell it sure came across watching it on sky again yesterday apart from the tongue in cheek tracks that seem to have upset a few people. You got 15,000 Union Jacks waving on second tier so that cant be be bad--Where the hell did they all appear from? was there one free under every seat????? -

Got to agree with JT on that one, everything was echoing and bouncing off left right and centre, couldnt make out a single word the announcer was saying at 6.30 and combined with the giant screen on the first and second bend not working looked likely to take the gloss off it a bit, couldnt even get to see Belinda strutting her stuff... Before the racing started we thought we would move around to a couple of few thousand seats on 4th bend /home straight but alas some jobs worth female steward watch us negotiate a few hundred seats and then stopped us in our tracks and said no--you have to go back and sit the the two seats on your ticket Returned tails between our legs and then SCB spotted us,he went and sussed out the territory like an SAS trooper in an advanced recky for a night attack, came back and got us and after negotiating a few rows of seats, barriers, and climbing over chairs in what seemed like a marines assault course managed to join fellow forum members on the 4th bend where we could hear clearly.
