Stars v Panthers Thurs 21/04/2022
Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think what I enjoyed most apart from Pickering's heroics was the fact that everyone cared about the result, every rider gave their all, Andersen punched the air going over the line in heat 14 because it mattered, same with the Lynn celebrations at the end. There was a decent atmosphere with both sets of fans making some noise and there felt like there was a passion in the stadium, that's not always been the case in recent years. -

That's the most enjoyable evening at the AFA I've had for years. Who doesn't love a heat 15 full of passing when the result of the meeting rests on it. Thought we threw away several points tonight so to still grind it out was pleasing. Also pretty clear to see that Basso's absence on Monday was a significant factor in our win. -

He's done something very similar at Lynn tonight through an even smaller gap in a last heat decider, brought the house down. He's some rider. -

Perhaps the camera angle isn't great but that move didn't look that bad and nothing that Hans wouldn't have done in his pomp. -

Basso looks the real deal. -
Be humble in victory though.

Oxford did well really to get 42 with Nicholls having an off night and their number seven unavailable.
-
I could be wrong but I don't think hes allowed to do more than two other leagues in addition to the Polish second division and he's already committed to Denmark and Sweden.

Wolves v Belle Vue League Cup 18th April 2022

Zagar will make a considerable to Aces fortunes, once Fricke gets going / stops testing it looks a strong, well balanced team. -
I think they'll finish top six comfortably enough but up against a Poole or Glasgow in the Play Offs they would get swept aside on current form.
-
Worrying signs from Leicester over the last week, they looked on paper title contenders but performing nothing like it on the road.
-
Some really encouraging signs yesterday, apart from Lewis having an off day everybody contributed considerably. We will be weaker once Iversen leaves of course whether he's replaced by Kildemand or somebody else but the way the team rode and were up for it under Brady's influence was good to see.

I think it must have done, there was a reasonable breeze as well as the sunshine and the water that went down had almost disappeared by the time the next heat took place. I'm not sure daytime meetings are ever the best idea, speedway ought to be an evening sport really to keep moisture in. Either that or use the slurry spreader which comes out on 4TT day
-
Absolutely acknowledge that it would have been very different with Basso there and MPT uninjured but that win was thoroughly deserved and should have been by more really but for Iversen and then Worrall suffering gremlins in point scoring positions. Lynn were far sharper out of the gate as shown by eleven heat winners, have seen much better racing at the EoES but it got a bit better towards the end with some good tussles.
-
And of course a fortunate 5-1 in the re run. In terms of the racing and keeping the track moist why change the start time from half seven to 5pm?
-
It really is dragging on even allowing for the MPT incident. Don't understand why they don't get on with things after a track grade and water, by the time the next heat is run its dusty again and the water has evaporated. We've already moved spots as there were clouds of dust on the back straight. Farcical heat 11, right decision to re run but why let it go all four laps initially? Dear me.
-
Yep that's what I meant, could have made it a bit clearer
-
I think he can replace your number 7 ie Rising Star. Should be any rider though if that's what you want to do.
-
Sponsorship must be a massive part of attracting top quality riders there, its an affluent area with lots of sponsorship opportunities.
-
R/R for a challenge match is odd. Seems unnecessary. Clean and functional toilets are a basic and should be straightforward to provide. I think we all understand that somebody has stepped in to save the club and credit to them for that but there is a balance and constructive criticism is healthy and helps mprovement. People are entitled to expect a certain level of satisfaction as customers.

Leicester v Poole Sat 16th/4/22
Bagpuss replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
I think you ought to be happy with the thought of anyone over two legs, as things stand you win any play off at a canter on paper IMO. -
One of those things but very disappointing to not see Basso, was looking forward to seeing him in action (no disrespect to Slambert)
-
He was complaining last week that he didn't get selected for Gniezno (sp?) so must be fit to a degree? Not in their line up for today either. Dread to think who we'll end up with if he doesn't appear and Puk disappears.
