This is the most significant post on the thread but seems to have passed most people by. We have our best crop of youngsters for many a year right now and it seems like they may have a choice - stay in the UK and earn lots of money doubling up or really roll the dice in Poland and if it comes off they could be on the path to the top or at least good continental careers through being the best they can be. I know which one I hope they all choose.

Kings Lynn Stars v Sheffield Tigers 19/08/21

Fair point but I assume that's a very different kind of shale to what Lynn use. -

That has to be better than what we currently have but how many riders who are used to doubling up would pack it in without the extra income? -

Indeed, the problem I have with this whole debacle is how long people were standing around for, usual speedway cock up and failure to consider its customers. If nobody fancied it they should have knocked it on the head straight away. Inexperienced Different riders will have different opinions, that's life. The best idea I've read on this thread is for Bomber and a willing Lynn rider to do some laps to try it out, seems a no brainer. -

And folk wonder why people wont chance it if there's rain about..... -
Pedersen was well past Jorgensen before the 'incident' occurred going by the video.

That's an embarrassing match report. Perhaps Mr Peasley might be able to shed some light on it?

I don't disagree but if they've agreed to show a certain number of matches then that's what they should do.

British Final 2021
Bagpuss replied to Midland Red's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Essentially though doubling up and down doesn't really exist any more.....if you take Holder, Bewley and Kurtz and the Rising Stars out of the equation then the Premiership is full of riders in their comfort zone one way or the other earning two incomes in the UK because we cant enough people to ride here. The PL is too weak and the CL too strong meaning we have the mess we are currently in, and I suspect if doubling up/down was scrapped there would be uproar. The riders duch as Daniel has named should never be riding second division over here and their doing so has pushed the admission costs up to daft levels. -

And Craig Cook IIRC? Might have been one or two others as well. -

Have been thinking about this and apart from last year when several riders opted out and of course the British season didn't happen I don't think Robert has turned it down before, he was injured in 2019 and missed a final a few years prior to that due to breaking down on the way to his semi. So perhaps he should have been asked as he was far from alone in turning it down last year. -

I get the feeling you are the kind if character who could start an argument in an empty room Rightly or wrongly I would suspect that Lambert & Woffinden have turned it down in the past because they don't have machines/mechanics over here and/or they will have ridden in Poland the day before and will be in Sweden the day after. It's a great pity and I think they should make the effort really but can kind of understand why they haven't, this year would have been an ideal opportunity to get some laps at the NSS before SoN but there you go. -

It's not Lambert and Woffinden's fault that our league is such a poor product nowadays, they base themselves in Poland to ride in the best league and to make good money. Bewley and possibly Ellis will probably follow suit as their career trajectories go up and up, riders don't want all the travel backwards and forwards and prefer two race days as well as World Championshop commitments. World class riders will outgrow what we have over here because its been managed so badly over the last 20-30 years and I would never blame any British rider for cutting the UK out of their schedule. -
I did Trelawny twice mate, fantastic little track and venue. Mine would be Norwich, West Ham, Wimbledon, Hyde Road and Halifax.

I'd fancy Lawson ahead of those latter two. -

It's done on 2019 averages one suspects, the only way it can be done fairly without qualifiers. That said I'm sure the majority of people would prefer to see what Brennan can do. -
You are so sensitive about your Polish lads, chill the idiot out you absolute melt. I couldn't care less if Zmarzlik was from Outer Mongolia, I don't want to see somebody winning it two, three, four years on the trot. Rickardsson bored me for that very reason. So off you trot, there's a good lad/lass.

As good as Kemp was bad by the look of it. He's been a real disappointment in both leagues this year unfortunately. -
Might have done but for Bjarne's injury, a real shame.

I think most Lynn fans would say not very well for the last few years.

King's Lynn Stars v Peterborough Panthers 12/08/21
Bagpuss replied to Bald Bloke's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
From what I've heard Lawson just ran out of steam and was knackered in heat 15, to be honest I don't agree with home tacticals so perhaps justice was served in the end. Also while we all want to see our team win it seems that it's been an entertaining season at Lynn, last heat deciders and better racing are no bad thing. As long its not every season I guess
