Swindon 2016 - A New Era Starts...we Thought..
Bagpuss replied to dump that clutch's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
I think Grachan has summed it up well on the Lynn thread, all parties at fault in some way and common sense has prevailed ultimately. Its just another episode which makes British Speedway look amateurish though which is a shame as the season hasn't even started yet. -
If its the same as the meeting a couple of years ago then I don't think the meeting at Lynn was promoted by Lynn or Buster but the Polish company involved. Anyway, good to see that common sense has prevailed although it would be good to hear Swindon's side of things.

Belle Vue look favourites to me. I think there are question marks over fewer Aces riders than Poole men.

Premier League Predictions 2016
Bagpuss replied to SomersetBlue's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Absolutely, any team could change at any time so to predict who will finish where based on changes they may or may not make is silly. It can only be done on team strengths as they are, and on that basis Scunthorpe look like a bottom four side. -
The 2016 Speedway Best Pairs Cup
Bagpuss replied to PolskiZuzel's topic in International World of Speedway
The removal of pairs representing a particular country has also removed my interest in the competition. Good luck to those who want to watch it though. -
It was Tai Woffinden, but we needed somebody to guest as Robert hadn't quite turned 16 IIRC.
-
I don't necessarily think its that bad, but I would call it a team full of the unknown. I think we all know what Iversen will bring but the other six you just can't say. Mads & Robert could potentially add up to a couple of points each, Rory could struggle or pick up where he left off before injury, Wilko could be a good reserve given a full season as he has the experience and if Lewis can get back to his 2014 form he will be a very good number seven. Kai would have had an excellent season if he maintains his five but could easily drop to three given his inexperience. And as we all know Batchelor can be hot or cold The problem will be if he replaces Puk with no other strengthening. This team could have a good go at finishing top four or be joining Leicester down the bottom.
-
Wrong maybe but its about winning and therefore getting bums on seats - IF Puk wanted to stay on and we were getting trounced every week it would be a no brainer to replace the weakest rider possible.
-
Iversen shouldn't feel like he is letting the club down, he isn't obliged to sign a British contract. I expect the reason he has agreed to ride short term is for the £'s and the extra practice ahead of the GP series starting.
-
When it comes to the crunch our gating won't be good enough unfortunately.
-
Surely you can build up to the points limit, so if Lynn's team average dropped they would be able to build back up to it which could mean Troy coming in for someone other than Iversen. It's moot anyway as Puk won't continue beyond the end of April.

One or two high horses need to be dismounted from, especially crescent girl who seems to know what I am thinking when she doesn't have a clue. My preference, as outlined on one or two EL threads in recent weeks, would be for EL to be Monday & Wednesday, otherwise it would be a waste of time.

I'm sure there is a direct correlation between how much success a team has and the arrogance of its supporters.

National Speedway Stadium Opening Tickets Now On Sale
Bagpuss replied to hyderd's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
People need to be a little less defensive. If the lack of first bend viewing is to allow room to erect a temporary stand on turns 3&4 then fair enough. -
Getting the EL & PL on completely different nights is a no brainer, lets hope it can be done.

Great to be back in a position where the four don't just pick themselves. Best to see who is on form at the time but great to have options. -

A shame that viewing from first two turns won't be possible but if the track is as good as it promises then it won't matter too much I'd have thought. -
Are my ears burning HMRC winding up order anyone?
-
Which ties in with the points limit. The whole idea is to make teams as even as possible, was obvious when the points limit was announced that there wouldn't be enough quality riders to make everybody competitive.
-
Which will put us in the same boat as everyone bar Poole & Belle Vue, those two look streets ahead of the others. The result of a too high a points limit unfortunately.
-
Very unprofessional of Tatum to run his mouth off about the club he works for at an event hosted by another.
-
Looks like Huckenbeck will be number eight and S Lambert number nine if you like, with the final rider still to be named, thats how I read it anyway. Bjarne Pedersen looks the best of whats left and that would mean a pretty reasonable squad although not on par with Belle Vue and Poole.
-
Looks like a squad system through the back door for those who want it.....not a bad idea but the communication from the governing body has been dreadful.
