ROLE OF THE SCB Formed originally in 1948, under the authority of the RAC (Royal Automobile Club) the SCB was known as the Speedway Control Board, a title that stood until 2003. At that time, the RAC, through it’s subsidiary, the Motor Sports Association (MSA) relinquished their involvement and the Auto-Cycle Union, which was formed in 1903 had the sole responsibility in Great Britain for 2-wheeled motor sport. Subsequently the SCB was re-named as the Speedway Control Bureau and is authorised by the Auto Cycle Union to act as the recognised Governing Body for Speedway racing in Great Britain. Accordingly, each season the SCB produces a Rule Book entitled The Speedway Regulations, that covers all the rules applicable to the sport in Great Britain. It is available in booklet form at a small cost from the SCB Office or as a fre download from the SCB Website www.scbgb.co.uk Financed entirely by fees generated through the issue of Track Licences, Rider Registrations and Officials Licences the SCB seeks to act as the independent body to ensure that the BSPA, Member’s Tracks, Riders and Officials all act within the Rules and Regulations of the SCB and most importantly within the best interest of Speedway motorcycle racing. The SCB is managed on a day to day basis by the SCB Co-ordinator (Neil Vatcher: neil@scbgb.co.uk) and an Administrator (Nikki Jameison: info@scbgb.co.uk). They are augmented in specialist areas by Track Inspectors (Alan Bridgett: alan@scbgb.co.uk & Mick Bates: mick@scbgb.co.uk) and a Technical Advisor (Jim McMillan: jim@scbgb.co.uk). Further specialist advice concerning Medical and Environmental matters are obtained via the ACU Committees; Environmental Advisor (Peter Gregory: pgregory@ntlworld.com), Medical Panel Secretary (Debbie Walmsley: dw@acu.org.uk) The Bureau consists of 4 nominated Members, two representing the ACU are Tony Steele and Paul Hurry (ACU Members) whilst Rob Godfrey (BSPA Vice-Chairman) and Chris van Straaten (BSPA Promoter) represent the British Speedway Promoters Association under the independent Chairmanship of Jim Lawrence (a former speedway Referee). The BSPA is an association of the active Club Promoters

The Showground isn’t going to close. Mr Chapman’s statement today has given a good deal more detail of where the Club stands, and clearly track availability is an important part of the Panthers’ future.

Only one of these posts is rubbish, and it’s not the first one...... I think ‘Wealdstone’ got it spot on.

It’s on the Peterborough Today website - prematurely I would guess as it’s a Thursday paper.

Jason Garrity to replace Josh Bates (subject to ratification).

I'm flattered, but I've been Promoter at Peterborough three times now and have no real ambition to make it four!

A rider can return from injury after the cut-off date, the declared replacement rider must leave the 1-7.

Entry to the track from the pits at Eastbourne is usually halfway down the back straight. Entry to the pits from the track is usually on bend 2. -

Before the completion of tonight’s meeting Swindon have dropped two home points, and gained two away points. -
They would be reasonable figures in my opinion.

What I said, responding to MikeBV on another thread, was: ‘Each Club pays its own riders home and away of course, so a home meeting needs to cover rider pay for one home and one away meeting. A good rule of thumb is 100 points home and away, in my opinion £20k would be right at the top of the range; for a Premiership Club paying more than average and scoring well home and away (hence successful, which should enhance the crowd). Around £12k would be nearer the mark.’ £20k was MikeBV’s figure, not mine

I should have specified that my figures were for the Premiership, your figures for the Championship are about right. -

In my experience the ‘pusher’ role no longer exists - riders are pushed off by their own mechanic. -

For a 5/6 hour journey, 300+ miles each way, I would have said it was an ideal time for the meeting! -
A declaration should be at the BSPA office no later than 28th July to be effective on 31st July.

The 8-day rule only applies to guest appearances, it doesn’t include appearances for a rider’s own Club -
Only one Bates on the MC I believe - Messrs Chapman, Godfrey, Damian Bates, Pratt and Machin, with Chris Louis as reserve member.
-
In theory yes they can, as all team declarations are subject to approval as being ‘in the best interests of the sport’.....

I can’t speak for Rick Frost, but during Ged’s time as Club Owner there were no ‘problems’ with the Showground. We had an excellent working relationship with our Landlords - while we couldn’t always have the dates we wanted, we accepted that we weren’t the only tenants and the Showground management had the final say over stadium usage. In return they were always as flexible as they could be, recognising that we had fixtures to fulfil, and the Club’s many successes in 2015-18 meant that numerous extra fixtures had to be fitted in and we were always able to do that without difficulty.
