That’s always been the case, the BWD situation is a bit of an outlier as he’s ridden CL in 2018, simply not achieved a new average at the appropriate time.

Art 16.2.7 states that the most recently established MA will be used. Bradley gained a Premiership MA on 1st May, but he did not gain a Championship MA on 1st May (as he hadn't ridden in the CL prior to 24th April) , hence his Premiership MA is the most recently established one so is converted for his inclusion in our team.

Bradley Wilson Dean comes into the Peterborough team on his converted PL average of 5.90 (Art 16.2.7).

PETERBOROUGH have moved to bring 2017 team member Bradley Wilson-Dean back to the club. The New Zealand star returns to the T.Balfe Construction Panthers as a replacement for Nike Lunna, who broke his ankle in a crash when guesting for Workington at Scunthorpe last Friday. Wilson-Dean is available after completing a short-term stint with the Comets as injury cover, and ironically showed his liking for the East of England Arena with a bumper 13+1 score in their victory over the Panthers earlier this month. And with five Championship matches and a vital Shield fixture against Ipswich coming up during the month of June, promoter Ged Rathbone says they had to make a new signing rather than rely on the rider-replacement facility. He said: “It’s very unfortunate for Nike, who has been a pleasure to deal with, but it looks like he is going to be out for at least six weeks and we really can’t cover for that length of absence. “We keep saying it’s a short season this year and we felt we couldn’t afford to risk letting things run away from us by continuing to use rider-replacement. “If it’s mid-to-late July before Nike gets back then that’s a big chunk of the season gone, so we’ve had to act to maintain our strength, and hopefully our position in the table. “Bradley knows ourselves and the track well so I’m confident he will slot straight back in, and he certainly showed us what he can do when he rode here with Workington recently. “I do feel for Nike, we wish him well for his recovery and we would certainly be happy to work with him again in the future.” Wilson-Dean will make his seasonal Panthers debut in the trip to Glasgow on June 8, with the return fixture at the East of England Arena on Sunday June 10. Away from home a guest can only be up to the missing rider’s average. For a home meeting a guest can have an average up to the missing rider’s + 5%.

Peterborough v Ipswich CS Tuesday 24th April

SPEEDWAY POSTPONEMENT TUESDAY APRIL 24 CHAMPIONSHIP SHIELD Peterborough v Ipswich – OFF PETERBOROUGH bosses have taken an early decision to postpone Tuesday’s Championship Shield clash with Ipswich. The club have acted on of the advice of several weather forecasts, which all indicate that persistent rain is expected during the afternoon and evening. They have therefore called the meeting off to prevent inconvenience for all parties. A new date for the match, which is still a significant one for the Panthers, is to be confirmed. Although Lakeside wrapped up top spot in the Southern group with their 45-44 win at Ipswich on Saturday, the semi-final place for the best group runners-up could still be available for the Panthers if they defeat the Witches in the re-staging. I have already posted on this forum exactly how the qualifiers are decided and what Peterborough need to do on Tuesday.
-
Win on Tuesday, then wait for the other runners-up. Their target will be 14 match points
-
Thinking on....race points won't feature as it's not possible to have a tie for 'best second' based on match points (unless the second placed club in each of the four-team groups finish with the same match points).
-
As I understand it the best runner up is decided on a % basis of available match points in their group. If that results in a tie I assume average race points per completed meeting comes into play.

Peterborough v Ipswich CS Tuesday 24th April
NeilWatson replied to bigcatdiary's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
PETERBOROUGH bosses have stressed they will run next Tuesday’s Championship Shield clash with Ipswich in a timely fashion. The re-arranged meeting on April 24 gets underway at 8pm in a bid to make it easier for travelling supporters, or locals who work into the early evening, to attend. Promoter Ged Rathbone says the club have taken the only realistic date possible to stage the meeting, which could be a crucial encounter for semi-final qualification. He said: “Obviously under normal circumstances running a Tuesday night meeting against Ipswich, who give us some of our biggest crowds of the season, is not ideal. “However, it’s a decision we’ve had to take for the good of the sport, with the need to progress the competition and with us not having any other spare home dates until much later in the season. “We went for 8pm so that it hopefully isn’t a major rush after work for our own supporters, and also to assist Ipswich fans to get here. “What I can assure people is that barring any unforeseen problems, we will be running a quick meeting, exactly as we have done in our first two home matches so far. None of us want it finishing too late. “It’s going to be an important meeting either way, and clearly the ideal scenario is that we go into it needing a win to book our place in the semi-finals. “But even if that isn’t the case, if Lakeside get a result at Ipswich on Saturday, it will still be one we need to win to put us in a good position for being the best runners-up amongst the three groups, as they also qualify for the semis.” ENDS -

Bear in mind that yesterday's meeting took place in deteriorating rainy conditions - although the rules in 2018 dictate meetings should be completed more quickly than before, yesterday may well have been particularly speedy to try and ensure completion. -
The SCB released a supplementary regulation for the semi-finals, it is available here: http://www.scbgb.co.uk/request.php?6161 This document defines the conduct of the meeting, including how ties are determined.

That's correct, countback to decide all ties except 7th place

The meeting was quite unusual to have not a single re-run or fall - that helps the timekeeping. -
COVENTRY have moved quickly to snap up Connor Mountain as their new No.1 – after being forced into an eve-of-season change of plan. The Bees had been set to go into the campaign, which starts at Birmingham next Wednesday (March 28), with 17-year-old Jack Parkinson-Blackburn at the top of the order. But it was announced on Monday that the former British Youth Champion was taking time out of the sport, and will not be taking up his team places with either Coventry or Championship club Glasgow. Bees therefore rapidly re-established contact with Mountain, who had shown an interest in joining the club earlier in the winter. The 20-year-old suffered a broken back in 2016 but recovered to enjoy his best season in the sport last year, posting a 9.06 average for Mildenhall and progressing at Championship level with Ipswich. Promoter Mick Horton said: “Connor approached me several weeks ago about joining us, but unfortunately for him we’d just completed our team at that stage. “It was a shame for him that he missed out, but thankfully for us he was still available when the situation changed with the events of late. “Connor is without doubt a recognised No.1 in the National League, and we’re very pleased to have him on board. “He jumped at the chance of joining us, and he’ll be with us at Birmingham next Wednesday although we will need a guest at Belle Vue on Good Friday as he’s already committed with Ipswich on that day. “As a club we’d also like to wish Jack all the best. It’s clearly something he needs to sort out himself, and I’m sure he will be bouncing back in the near future.” With press and practice last weekend having been postponed due to the weather, Coventry are one of several clubs whose riders have been short of time on the circuit ahead of the official start of the season. Horton added: “We’re desperately trying to get some track time at Leicester but it’s not easy at the moment, the track has taken on a lot of water and they’re working hard on it as we speak.”
