  1. thanks for kinds words lol ,nobody is fleecing me , I have done ok out of speedway I only have a small finacial intrest in speedway and that with my intrest is ending because it has just worn me down to the point where I just don't care anymore
  2. , it's not just promotors making money but while the sport is on deaths door some are sitting on the Ivory towers making a good living at it , I apreciate that it's not everyone , I know one person who is making nothing in it and to be honest I think it's taking toll on his health but he won't walk away
  3. Stoke and Swindon and others , how many years was Leigh Adams and others owed money? and Swindon still run, clubs lose money , promotors don't , apart from his reputation in speedway the ex Birmingham promotor is still doing ok for himself and isn't going to be appearing on the next series of Benifit St anytime soon
  4. I believe he is doing it for travel expenses only
  5. I wasn't there so I have only heard second hand account but I believe they rode ok but there was some issues with vibration
  6. it's already been done by riders far better than me in Poland
  7. The 2valve that jawa are producing is not like the old one from the 70s , it looks similar to the current model , I'm not sure why it's 570cc , it was explained to me , something to do with future environmental issues ? but with cooperation from all countries this could be the way to make speedway about the rider again and not about the tuner which sadly it is becoming
  8. I have been to an AGM , you pitch an idea that would be good for speedway but the rewards are further down the line you will get nowhere , put an idea that's instant £s in promotors pockets and it's done deal ,I suppose it's understanderble but it's not helping the sport , contary to what people say there is plenty of money in speedway for the lucky few
  9. the fact that it is only 2 valve mean it won't rev as hard and if nothing else your saving on the price of 2 valves and 2 springs and that's a saving of £150 straight away , jawa are making a 570cc version , with some input from the right people parts can be made for durability and all this can be done at the right price and the proper control from SCB as to parts and tuning through holomagation , unfortunately greed and a selfishness means it won't happen
  10. Buts it's not to small for jawa who already produce a 2valve ice racing engine in either upright or laydown that has been adapted and tested for speedway the answer is already there in front of our very eyes ,shame we are to stubborn or stupid to see it
  11. yea it would be good but it simply won't happen , apart from parts failing other parts like rings wear and carbon builds up and these things all lesson performance so they will still need serviimg and you can bet if an engine costs £6000 it's parts will also be expensive , the new silencers and everyone will. Be using them will lengthen service intervals
  12. in the last 5 years I rode I had 2 blow ups and one of those was because I went out with a cold engine , I used GMs with GM bits , I used 1rod 1 piston per engine per season ,that in my book is as reliable as is possible for any race engine ,at the same time i have a couple of mates that race ktm 250 motox and they have around 5 blow up per year although some were gearbox and some cause by cracked cases, you say poor materials but the rods Pistons and valves which are the parts that fail are made by the same company's and the same materials as other motorsports
  13. yes spread over 4 cilinders with a Rev limiter and a gearbox, you put all that power into one pot with no Rev limiter it will blow , motox engines regularly blow up and at half the revs of a speedway engine
  14. really ,I guess it's just speedway where engines blow up ? ALL motorsports suffer blow ups and regularly no matter who makes the engines or what oil pump they use, cut the revs if you want more reliability
  15. Just been reading Guy Martins book , see how many engine blow ups he has had in the last 5 years and these engines are all made by the leading manufacturers, it doesn't matter if you fit a better oil pump or even an oil refinery to the engine ,race engines blow up and to claim an engine will last all season is pure fantasy
  16. [quote name="theknow 2" post="2561348" timestamp="1420193801 Competion with more engine makers should bring the cost downThe main issue is the GM engine is not a good product from the factory it should bring the price down but it won't and the GM microlight engines are pretty much the same in design although not in size and I don't see them falling from the skies ,to be honest I never really had reliability problems with my GMs but I never really tried to get every last bit of speed out of them, a company who I do work for are a motox family and when I was still racing they were having more blow ups than me and I was riding more often
  17. unless they have discovered some new materials on Mars that the Pistons valves and rods etc are going to be made from they are still going to blow up ,you could cut the service time by using the jawa idea which would be around a 5th of the cost to buy in the 1st place ,race car teams all round the world have all the best brains on the planet and spend millions and their engines still blow up , we have become a sport dictated to by the "tuner" and it's got to stop , I'm sure this bloke with this new engine is s nice bloke and is very intelligent but he is not doing this for the Benifit of the sport he is doing this to make himself money ,which is ok for him but as with most parts we use now they just double in price ,the service is mainly big end bearings ,rings and since the new silencers the valve springs ,has he invented a new big end bearing that can withstand the sort of revs speedway produces ? I have been around speedway to long and know how prices get inflated and this has that written all over it I've said it before but speedway is a garden shed type sport and the further we get away from that the less the public buy into it , mechanical progress is all well and dandy but the fan on the terraces just doesn't care
  18. Phillip you are seriously in a dream world if you think this is going to reduce costs , with what has been described it is going to double costs . And it's everyone's job to get people through the turnstiles unfortunately only the very few can see past their own bank balance to make this happen
  19. sounds brilliant , won't get 1single new person through the turnstiles but will make the current ones pay more . Just what the sport needs , I give up
  20. no because after initial spin on drag racing 100% traction is gained in speedway it's never gained even on straight , the back wheel is always traveling faster than the bike ,unless on ice I don't think any other motor sport does this , this is proven when you loose control of a speedway bike you brain tell you to shut the throttle off but then for a second or so your wheelspin becomes your actual speed but that doesn't happen in other sports
  21. if that's its sole purpose then it is wrong to have teams and expect fans of those teams to pay to watch , the same could be achieved by having amateur meetings and getting the riders to pay to ride . And the so called journey men are often the fans favourite riders in their teams and if thats what the paying public wants then that's what the paying public should get , speedway isn't there to train anybody its entertainment that is its sole purpose and when you lose sight of that goal we might aswell give up
  22. one difference with speedway though is its not always the one with the best bhp that wins ,because of its nature of wheelspin it about how much power you can get to the track and that unlike other motorsports . You get the highest bhp possible from a speedway engine put it on a slick track with no dirt and you will win nothing
  23. while this is true at least it brings the gap a lot closer and brings the price down ,maybe you can only buy the engine through the SCB ? ,there will always be someone trying to get an advantage but it's an idea that is tried and tested in other motorsports why not ours
  24. jawa ,how many units do they sell in uk every year? Not many but if they are guaranteed exclusive use of their units but they have to pay British speedway ,this practice is wide spread in many businesses , this idea goes for any manufacturer but I just think jawa is in the best position to make it work
  25. While it's great to have choice what British speedway needs is a manufacturer to produce a cost effective but reliable engine for around £1000 and all the parts that are holomagated to go with it and that company sponsor British speedway for a set fee every year and it return they get their engines used exclusively in British speedway ,other than holomagated no other parts can be used ,no parts can be modified and only servicing is allowed , the costs plumet ,engines are all fair (as much as they can be ,although someone will always get an advantage) and British speedway gets a much needed sponsor . Pick holes in that plan
