  1. yes but your going to get yet another new mosque in dudley so thats going to keep everyone happy
  2. Not sure if its an age thing but i hate reading the star or for that matter any mag/book on a ipad or whatever gadget ,its just not the same as magazine
  3. feel free to browse any of my other post where there is more than enough ideas but in the meantime apply for the bspa chairmans job ,you are fully qualified for it
  4. Some of you seem to of missed the point here. The reason behind this is in the first line "beckham child WANTS to ride a motorbike " the bspa offers and pays for him to have to have a go at a ride and skid day of whixh every kid with an interest in motorbikes would jump at the chance. He isnt there as a PR stunt, he is there for his own fun but by its nature every paper in the world would be on to this. .Victoria bless her thinks motorbikes are dangerous so even more reason why a teenager would want a go. Of course he could just say no but it hasnt cost anything to ask and sometimes if you dont ask you dont get.. The fact that i had to explain this says volumes about the way the sport is run
  5. The beckham kid wants a motorbike. Why dosent the bspa invite him along to a ride and skid day. Maybe just maybe he will see how brilliant riding a speedway bike is and fancy a proper go at the sport. At worst speedway gets some good short term publicity at best it gets a marketing mans dream
  6. and the whole british rider thing gets undermined by things like the devon v buxton meeting tonight when despite advertising the spot on facebook buxton had to ride with 5 riders and r/r ,surely a rider british rider who really wants to make it the sport would of gone even if it costs them money
  7. on another subject i made the following post .In days gone by riders were ordinary talented blokes that the fans made into hero's, today riders are ordinary talented blokes that are self proclaimed hero's and the fans are not buying into it. This is the point i was making, team speedway is about the Jim Tebby's of this world, riders that fans can identify with
  8. i agree about titanium it should not be allowed but the carbon fiber parts you get from poland and czech are cheaper than the alloy or fiberglass equivalant over here .
  9. great idea but ex riders dont want to ride. When i put on the airfence meeting at buxton last year. I tried exactly this and to get 16 riders i had to ask around 200. I asked riders from sam ermolenko to aurther browning. All were behind the idea as long as they didnt have to ride. There is also the veteran championships at lydd every year but very few names do it. Maybe dangle a big carrot in front if some of them you might get them to ride but it took me by suprise just how many dont want to ever want to ride a bike again let alone race one
  10. what i meant by fad was he is the current in vogue tumer like ashtec and bloomfelt before. Wasnt knocking his tuning history or capability what i meant by fad was he is the current in vogue tumer like ashtec and bloomfelt before. Wasnt knocking his tuning history or capability
  11. i repect what peter johns has achieved as a rider and as a tuner. He is the best and is the current fad tuner but what is it doing for soeedway?
  12. and thats exactly the attitude why the sport is where it is. It can work and it will work. Personally i dont believe f2 bikes are the answer but to dismiss them as speedway has without fiving them a try is just wrong. I have raced at all league levels for 20 years been a mechanic for about 10 years and did my own engines plus a few others for 10 years so im aware of differences in engines but i also know that despite what a rider will tell you ,most of the difference is in the head of the rider rather than the head of the engine
  13. dont be fooled into thinking all is rosey in polish speedway because it isnt. Apart from the final crowds were well down to what they should of been. It is still far healthier than british speedway but to quote a high ranking pole "polish speedway is finished". by that i think he meant the bubble has well an truly burst but if polish speedway is finished what does that say about british speedway
  14. unfortunatly with money getting tighter within speedway the promoters are getting less and less open to fresh ideas unless they can see an instant windfall and thats understandable i suppose but it dosent benifit speedways future ,the rules of the sport have to be decided by someone or a group who have no finacial intrest in any team because as impartial as the promoters claim to be they will never go for a rule which impacts their team no matter how benificial it is to the sport , its a promoters job to promote his team and get the best for his team but it just dosent sit right with anybody when he needs to slightly bend the rules and he is part of the rule making team because obviously he will get away with it and that shouldnt be, but then look at the other side of the coin ,if you were a promoter and it was your money/living at stake would you want to pay an independant body to dictate to you how you should run your buisness , i do feel slightly for the promters but for the future credility of the sport an independant body has got to be the way to go
  15. probly not .it is being tested and there is no reason why it shouldnt but our sport is full of inward thinking people who have their pockets at heart rather than the sport. However there are some people in the sport who believe now is the perfect timing for this ,so we can hope. Its got to work because cost are out of control .it needs to be a stock engine with aproved parts that can not be modified in any way .the only things than can be adjusted are compression and valve timing . so what if GM suffer ,GM isnt speedways problem .speedway is not their biggest market anyway is it ?. I really have done almost every job in speedway and i do put way to much time into it ,i have no fanicial intrest in this project so im not biased about it but it is a great idea that the sport needs to be a sucess .
  16. thats why they need to make them stock engines like in other sports (take away expensive fancy parts).take the tuning out of the sport. Someone somewhere will always try to gain an advantage but it works in other sports ,no reason it wouldnt work in ours. It also will cut revs down a couple of 1000s and hopefully will cut down prices by half .yes GM and some tuners will be hit but speedway owes nobody any favours and i dont see any of them doing anything for speedway in its hour of need
  17. This is a opportunity that speedway must take and make it happen ,not just british speedway but every league, but will it ? . There are plenty with the attitude of" im alright jack" while the sport dies round their feet ,unfortunatly these people hold top power in the sport .
  18. A new engine 570cc 2 valve that hopefully will be a stock engine instead of the free for all tuning ones that speedway currently has.
  19. Jawa have the answer ,its up to speedway to grasp it
  20. There were some demo races with new engines being tested ,did he ride in those?
  21. I have been to one . Imagine all the great minds of the world sat in a room ,then think of the exact opposite ,throw in a gabel and a points limit and there you have it. Seriously it needs an independant body to run speedway and the bspa to run their teams within the rules set by the body
  22. Lets just say for example that a new front wheel with 35 spokes instead if 36 had been designed and tested and was going to be used in race conditions this weekend .if sucessfull it could be the future because it is cheaper to repoke and the bearings last longer and would slow racing down slightly but make it fairer and not about the one who pays the most to a wheel balancer and therefor make racing better .There are many who know about it but it is also part of a idea that will form a new organisation to run the sport. There are many current riders and ex riders who believe it will work and believe without it the sport is doomed ,however it also has people who are totally against it. Would it get an indepth piece in the star?? I doubt it. The above may be fact or fiction or a mix
  23. Firstly i have always brought the star and probably always will but it annoys me that it wont tackle a subject that is not a press release. There is things bubling under the radar all the time some good some bad and some that could change the sport forever but they never get in the star ,yes some maybe rumours but some are facts ,some are facts that are open for all to see but dont make the star, why??.
  24. Torun you were fantastic. Infact poland you were fantastic .nicki yet again wrongly excluded and who's bunny brained idea was it to put white paper sheets on the back of the seats ? Paper sheets+fans+beer=paper airport
  25. jason is a rough diamond .he has that something about him which others dont .when you race against him he is the type of rider that makes you think about him and distracts you from your game . Yes he is a bit wild at times but he is heading in the right direction. His equipment is getting better but still does need a big step up. tai apart i think he is our next hope on the world stage but does need the right backing
