  1. brilliant just what speedway needs, we've got a sinking ship and people throw in bricks
  2. could you explain how the elite and premier subsidise a club like Buxton? Let me into a little secret the elite and prem could care a Ratts ass about the NL if they did they would all run NL team ,they only show an interest when there is finacial gain for themselves . If you believe the 1st line of your post then you believe what you read in the speedway star snd press releases
  3. thats the idea for the rider but that's not why NL teams exist and to say it's to train riders for higher clubs is an insult to every paying fan
  4. no the idea is please the paying supporters of that club even at NL level , ,speedway is for fans ,it is a form of entertainment and when you make it about the riders you have the sport we have today ,the future for riders is up to the riders to make a future for themselves
  5. was that the week a bumper attendance was announced ?
  6. What a lot of people seem to be missing is Eastbourne have dropped 2 leagues and their fans need to be convinced that the NL is the thing for them so they need the team to be relatively successfull ,they need to win fans over which is no easy thing ,in Danny and Brendon they have 2 riders who are great at bonding with fans and will score very well especially at home
  7. while I agree speedway is about performance and results matter one thing that is lacking in modern speedway is fans can't relate to riders and riders who do make that connection are much needed in the sport at every level ,I'm not referring to Brendon in particular but if he falls into the bracket then that's all good
  8. Nicki p but I will be having a bet on bomber simply because of the big odds you get on him
  9. Jawa bike for sale bz carb ,prodrive silencer ,dirt deflector ,£1150 *SOLD*
  10. he basically said there was no money and bounced all our cheques so after the club shut mid season the Bspa paid us and a new lot came in and took it over to complete the season ,I can't believe he is let anywhere near a speedway track but then again look at some others that are still involved
  11. yes the very same one that didn't pay the riders and left the club for dead
  12. unfortunately the iow needs the ferries to sponsor the club to make it viable and up till the AGM neither wightlink or red funnel had come forward with an offer and as the iow had to declare to run at the AGM it was decided to focus on getting the team back for 2016 ,the group couldnt afford the cost of transporting 20 vans per meeting as well as the other costs involved in getting the club back, it is hoped that a ferry deal can be done in the near future and then the club will be back
  13. yes but your going to get yet another new mosque in dudley so thats going to keep everyone happy
  14. Not sure if its an age thing but i hate reading the star or for that matter any mag/book on a ipad or whatever gadget ,its just not the same as magazine
  15. feel free to browse any of my other post where there is more than enough ideas but in the meantime apply for the bspa chairmans job ,you are fully qualified for it
  16. Some of you seem to of missed the point here. The reason behind this is in the first line "beckham child WANTS to ride a motorbike " the bspa offers and pays for him to have to have a go at a ride and skid day of whixh every kid with an interest in motorbikes would jump at the chance. He isnt there as a PR stunt, he is there for his own fun but by its nature every paper in the world would be on to this. .Victoria bless her thinks motorbikes are dangerous so even more reason why a teenager would want a go. Of course he could just say no but it hasnt cost anything to ask and sometimes if you dont ask you dont get.. The fact that i had to explain this says volumes about the way the sport is run
  17. The beckham kid wants a motorbike. Why dosent the bspa invite him along to a ride and skid day. Maybe just maybe he will see how brilliant riding a speedway bike is and fancy a proper go at the sport. At worst speedway gets some good short term publicity at best it gets a marketing mans dream
  18. and the whole british rider thing gets undermined by things like the devon v buxton meeting tonight when despite advertising the spot on facebook buxton had to ride with 5 riders and r/r ,surely a rider british rider who really wants to make it the sport would of gone even if it costs them money
  19. on another subject i made the following post .In days gone by riders were ordinary talented blokes that the fans made into hero's, today riders are ordinary talented blokes that are self proclaimed hero's and the fans are not buying into it. This is the point i was making, team speedway is about the Jim Tebby's of this world, riders that fans can identify with
  20. i agree about titanium it should not be allowed but the carbon fiber parts you get from poland and czech are cheaper than the alloy or fiberglass equivalant over here .
  21. great idea but ex riders dont want to ride. When i put on the airfence meeting at buxton last year. I tried exactly this and to get 16 riders i had to ask around 200. I asked riders from sam ermolenko to aurther browning. All were behind the idea as long as they didnt have to ride. There is also the veteran championships at lydd every year but very few names do it. Maybe dangle a big carrot in front if some of them you might get them to ride but it took me by suprise just how many dont want to ever want to ride a bike again let alone race one
  22. what i meant by fad was he is the current in vogue tumer like ashtec and bloomfelt before. Wasnt knocking his tuning history or capability what i meant by fad was he is the current in vogue tumer like ashtec and bloomfelt before. Wasnt knocking his tuning history or capability
  23. i repect what peter johns has achieved as a rider and as a tuner. He is the best and is the current fad tuner but what is it doing for soeedway?
  24. and thats exactly the attitude why the sport is where it is. It can work and it will work. Personally i dont believe f2 bikes are the answer but to dismiss them as speedway has without fiving them a try is just wrong. I have raced at all league levels for 20 years been a mechanic for about 10 years and did my own engines plus a few others for 10 years so im aware of differences in engines but i also know that despite what a rider will tell you ,most of the difference is in the head of the rider rather than the head of the engine
  25. dont be fooled into thinking all is rosey in polish speedway because it isnt. Apart from the final crowds were well down to what they should of been. It is still far healthier than british speedway but to quote a high ranking pole "polish speedway is finished". by that i think he meant the bubble has well an truly burst but if polish speedway is finished what does that say about british speedway
