  1. Weird crash that one, it like half way round the corner he forgot how to ride and didn’t decide to actually turn until he was a few feet from the fence
  2. There isn’t really a thing called “the set up” they are all within a tweet or two from being somewhere near, it’s just a trendy thing to say these days, different riders have different set ups, bikes that ride well one day more often than not won’t work the next day on the same track with the same bike set up, when you hear a professional say they don’t have the right set up after their second ride it means they were crap but are too vain to say it, it’s bs like saying p1 or p2 when first or second, it’s just modern speak
  3. Got to admit can’t stand her either, she also does polish league for eleven sport
  4. I don’t know this a fact but what I have been told is jacks mechanic quit and left the bikes not ready for belle vue and jack has to do them himself but like I said I don’t know if that’s fact
  5. I think it’s about the flex of the tube and the bottom tube won’t flex a much as a normal tube so making the bike want to go straight line quicker
  6. This is the jhr rear end, not the best photo but you get the idea
  7. I’ve never tried one but the bottom tube is like a square tube design so I would imagine it makes the bike drive more but and this is my opinion only it makes the bike very unpredictable on less than perfect tracks.3 riders who use them are lambert, Doyle and lindgren who are all very fast this year but have randomly had moments where the bike has just taken off in the middle of the corner but I suppose if I they feel it works 90% of the time it’s worth the risk in their mind, traction control is banned in speedway so they are trying to sort of create it with frame modifications, I know zmarzlik has brought a lot of them but isn’t using them at moment and well he is world champion so do they work ?
  8. Unfortunately “the set up “ is more and more important these days to the point now where even in British speedway if you don’t have it close you won’t even be competitive and that’s sad
  9. Eddie Kennett was made an example of with the silencer by the scb, everyone was at it
  10. It’s near on impossible to cheat at World Cup or GP level, not saying it hasn’t happened but most are just looking for an advantage within the rules(like the current trend of jhr rear frames)but I think people mistakenly confuse speedway with other motorbike sports, more power doesn’t mean more wins, it means more wheel spin and the slicker the track the more you will go nowhere, power means nothing if you can’t get the rear wheel to grip,,take the example of smolinski in earlier post he cheated by pulling a wire apart mid race but it didn’t make his bike have more power it made it less power and the back wheel to hook up better on the slick track, the difference with polish riders and their ability to adapt is their training from an early age on how a bike works, most polish riders can strip and rebuild engines, a lot of British youngsters don’t understand the importance of having a clean air filter
  11. Yes I agree, my previous post was just about what is actually involved technically, yes it is a full time job, well sort of because there are weeks sometimes when you have no meeting cause rain off or whatever and yes you feel like sometimes you’re living in airport car parks, I was always well planned well in advance with my work(own business) and got customers to know the riders away meetings so tied work round them so that worked out well and this worked in my riding days too, you would often see my van loaded with bikes and work stuff and tied one in with the other
  12. Not technical at all, all you have to do is change a tyre, check tyre pressure, turn a wheel, change sprocket and chain links, adjust ignition and maybe change a jet size and fuel up, that’s pretty much everything you do at a meeting, in a workshop you just strip parts, wash bike and parts and reassemble, checking nothing has broke, bent or worn, strip carb, wash it and reassemble, adjusting arm setting with dial gauge, very rarely mechanic will touch engine settings, you might check tappet gaps but no exactly rocket science, you have to work quick these days but mostly you are at the riders instructions but If you have riding experience you can give your input, it helps to know what changes will do like jetting/gearing etc but you pick these things up as you go along it’s my opinion you could go from an average Joe to become a fully competent mechanic in one season, it’s pretty basic mechanics, one thing that has to learnt is trust, the rider must trust you 100%
  13. I came from an era when most riders had friends that helped them out at meetings to the era from 10 years ago when nearly everyone had full or at least part time mechanic’s to today when riders are appealing for help at various tracks on social media, where have all the mechanics gone? I still see a few from when I did it but a lot just don’t do it anymore, it’s not bad money really and you can do deals with riders and it seems to be all levels too, I noticed bomber washed his own bikes on Thursday and don’t think he turned up with a mechanic at Sheffield, I know teams like wolves and Poole provided mechanics if you didn’t have one but where have the mechanics all gone? Are riders not paying anymore or something else ? I understand rider/mechanic can be a bit like a marriage at times so is it there is too many personality conflicts these days, I know riders can at times be awkward to say the least and I also understand some mechanics think the world revolves around them but even taking that into account there should be enough to go round, is the money not enough these days not enough to subsidise the loss of a work wage or is it just like the rider numbers dwindling the mechanics are dwindling too ?
  14. My Mrs is a stoke city season ticket holder for her sins and stoke subsidise quite a lot of the away travel to matches, some of the matches are practically free and also reduced ticket prices at a a lot of the games, Friday night 7 of the family went to the home game with hull and 4 of them went free, I didn’t go as I had painted a wall and needed to watch it dry but it basically is the sort of thing speedway should do, maybe not all the time but certainly to playoff and TV meetings
  15. I saw a post on a Wrocław page after the magic crash saying get Kowalski out of that meeting now and then he strangely touches the tapes
