  1. But what's the good of it fizzling out by 8.30pm if it's been chucking it down before? The track will be saturated.
  2. I'm sure Trees will love being called Steve....or perhaps Starman knows better and there is something she is not telling us. Now I've thought about it I think I have the answer. The pressure has been getting to Starman and he was at the time thinking 'I must not reveal I am Steve Shovlar' so had the name Steve in his head. Sadly without thinking he transferred it into words. Sussed at last.
  3. Well, yes I agree but I'm just repeating what someone said who is part of the staff - they need a break. Personally I don't see why. If I can drive from Leicester, watch all the meeting plus second half, then drive back again without needing the loo then I don't see why an interval is needed. But perhaps like someone has said it's the owner so more food/drink can be sold. Blimey! That would be a laugh with the men on music duty trying to sort that lot out. And what about Peter York at Coventry? When would he be able to get a word in?
  4. Ah but what about the track staff who will want a cup of tea and a wee - in no particular order. Yes that is how it should be but unfortunately it often isn't. Compare the time it takes for the riders to be ready for a re-run after a false start or a coming together on the first bend in the G.P's. It's everyone back to the pits for 5 minutes. It was never as bad in the E.L. but has now got even better with no return at all allowed.
  5. Looked like a good crowd to me for the Somerset match. Also seemed to be a lot of fans visiting from other tracks - me and the other half included - and we can only attend on Sunday's. I really hope Peterborough have a successful season as their track is one of the best in the country.
  6. So Glasgow have a newly applied 'No Dogs' policy this season. Won't affect me as there's not much chance of me getting up to Scotland again but I understand a family with a disabled child have been banned for complaining about the rule. True? Good PR for a company which converts vehicles for disabled driver use. And what happens about riders who may turn up with a dog in their van? Do they get turned away at the gate? Health and Safety gone mad again.
  7. Apart from his rants about traffic lights at roundabouts. He can't back them up with facts. But that's not for this thread as I'm still trying to protect 'Norbold's Hole.'
  8. That's one way of looking at it. The other is that Sunday meetings attract a lot of fans from other tracks so there is no doubt a much improved attendance on Sunday's than the Friday meetings.
  9. Probably too many as Peterborough ride mostly on Friday's same as Coventry.
  10. Now he's the only one on the roving mike perhaps he's going to up his game and get more into the 21st century. The presentation was vastly improved anyway last night. The only thing I didn't like about Peter York was his commentary on the last couple of laps but he's not doing that anymore so I'm happy.
  11. No problems for me at Coventry either as it was easy to distinguish between the yellow/black and white/black. Mind you it was made a tad easier by the fact it was Peter Karlsson on the TR ride so I only had to look for the rider in front. Great night for Peter with 20 points.
  12. Certainly was a stunning performance from PK - a rider I have always liked but has sadly never ridden for us. I'm sure he will be seeing out his career with Wolves now - back where he belongs. You're right about the presentation as it was much improved this week and even the music was better, although for it to be worse than last week would take some doing. Enjoyable meeting but got a bit scary after the 8-1 result, even more so when it was Cov 35 Wolves 34.
  13. Very wise! It was really cold in the grandstand last Sunday even though it was a nice day and the sun was shining. I'd advise several layers of clothing and a blanket being as it's an evening match.
  14. Now stop giving clues away regarding 'Norbold's Hole' or TWK will suss what it was about.
  15. Oh gosh Norbold's Hole. What a topic that was.
  16. Well, at least this subject has taken his mind off the Leicester track for a change.
  17. Don't worry Norbold - I don't think it will catch up. This thread is running out of steam now......unless Darcy releases his much awaited statement of course.
  18. 2005. She will be ten years old in June. Summed up exactly and that's why it annoys me when people generalize about dogs because they are not all the same and the owner knows them best. Mine have always been taken to the speedway at 9 or 10 weeks old and have never shown any fear of the noise. If they had I wouldn't have taken them again. The hoover is another thing entirely though and is really scary. Lucy always shoots upstairs out of the way when that comes out. Strange how she can stand next to the starting gate at Buxton with bikes revving up and take no notice but she's scared of the hoover.
  19. Found this photo just for you Robert - Molly at her first Speedway meeting at Coventry aged 10 weeks. Do you honestly think she is at all bothered by the noise or flying shale? I rest my case. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=78059152784&set=a.10150108832387785.305302.550797784&type=3&theater
  20. Blimey. Flying shale and noise. We're not really in the habit of hanging over the fence. Even though I get rather irritated by people who generalise about all dogs being the same terrified little creatures, if you are on Facebook look my name up - Janet Hambleton, Leicester - and you can see the latest photos of Lucy and Molly at Peterborough on Sunday. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10153702794432785&set=pcb.10153702799197785&type=1&theater Do they look bovvered?
  21. Good grief! I can't see him being able to ride the Monmore Green track very well. Hope they've got a good strong air fence.
  22. Yes, I realise that he's a wimp and doesn't want to see me face to face after saying it's cruel taking a dog to Speedway.
  23. To be fair to Shawn now he's moved back home to Wales there aren't any tracks nearby. Plenty of Sheep but no tracks.
  24. You're right it wasn't a very good advert for speedway unfortunately but it was the first meeting so hopefully the track will settle down and the racing will get better. Although there were still a fair few amount of genuine passes, nothing compares to Peterborough on Sunday where there were passes in the majority of races. If you've never been to The Showground you want to get yourself over there sometime. Lots of Sunday afternoon meetings this year. I saw several dogs at Coventry and I also walked round with Lucy before the match started. I even stopped to talk to one strange Leicester fan, standing with all the others on the 1st bend, who had what looked like a Lion stuck on his head. Nice chap though. Afterwards, as I told you before, I'm on the 4th bend but Lucy is harder to spot then because she's usually asleep on her blanket.
