  1. It's a real shame about the parking at Leicester as 235 spaces is a ridiculously small amount. Yes, I know parking is available at the Shopping Centre but as Shawn has found out there is the risk of being fined for staying longer than 4 hours. I missed the second half racing recently as I was worried about this (I'm not as brave as Shawn and would have paid up so didn't want to risk getting a ticket.) It's quite a hike up to the stadium so you have to take this into account after parking the car if you're not so young anymore so with a second half it would be quite easy to go over the 4 hours.
  2. It will go away. My brother had a parking ticket when on holiday in Cornwall and is still waiting to be prosecuted 50 years later.
  3. Yes - True Grit. I still have a small one somewhere, but Nevsy had a massive size poster. Better not bring that subject up again though.
  4. Perhaps he's hinting out that he doesn't want to guest so much? A few more scores like that and the phone won't be ringing very often.
  5. I'm afraid it is much too big and would fill your computer hard drive. Also if you get confused and irritated with speedway rules and regulations you'd be tearing your hair out with some of these ones.
  6. I wouldn't say it had one line - there were two nice blue ones by the end of the match, plus it was also possible this time to ride out near the fence as it wasn't like a ploughed field. I actually really enjoyed it today and counted only 3 heats where there were no passes. I love Peterborough - the racing, music, announcer, everything...... except the journey. Well done to the Panthers on their win (thank goodness) but also to Plymouth for riding so well, when due to recent results I was expecting an easy win ~ the Devils obviously had other ideas. Very nice to see Star Lady before the meeting started.
  7. Well, if it's okay to quote my own post....that match was absolutely brilliant. Only 3 races with no passes. I love Peterborough!
  8. Well, I'm going again today as I hope to go to all the Sunday meetings, but if the track is like that today too I have an idea I might just get a bit cheesed off. As a neutral I'd like to see some good racing as that's the whole point of me going but if the track is prepared purely to put the visiting riders off then I'm not going to be so keen on making the journey over from Leicester. The racing was brilliant during the Peterborough v Somerset match so hopefully it will be today.
  9. Yes, pain in the neck with riders missing from the Belle Vue team, which was the reason I decided not to go, but no way would there have been as big a crowd as the week before anyway. I saved my money to to to Peterborough today instead but I have an idea it might be a bit cold in that grandstand.
  10. But it's longer now 'cos he won't be riding on Sunday afterall.
  11. Blimey I'm forbidden. What have I done to deserve that? I only said the 3rd/4th bend was really deep and wet on Monday and some riders were struggling with it.
  12. Yes, I don't think Rory likes Coventry anymore as he's always riding for the opposing teams. Saw him riding for Leicester against Coventry last week and now he's riding for Poole against us this week.
  13. Remembering what it's like at Swindon on a lovely sunny evening I'd like to offer you a bit of advice - wrap them up warm otherwise they will drop off. Ignore this warning at your peril.
  14. Well done Coventry on keeping it close. So Arron Mogridge and Ellis Perks......do they have famous fathers like Alan and Dave respectively?
  15. That's good news. Well, it is if you mean Stefan Nielsen who I saw at Peterborough on Monday. Nice, deep track then - well watered.
  16. Not forgetting Peterborough.....providing it's not like a plowed field so the opposition get the hump and give up before they start.
  17. Perhaps to make it a bit more interesting an announcement could be made as to exactly which riders want extra track grading. If it's one or more of the visiting riders fans could pass the time away having a good 'Boo' or shouts of 'Get on with it'. On the other hand if it's Jason Doyle we can have a moan about 'Whingeing Aussies' again.
  18. It didn't seem to work at Peterborough last night. Just seemed like a complete waste of time as it was still like a wet ploughed field round the outside, although admittedly I was overlooking the 3rd/4th bend so don't know what 1st/2nd was like but probably the same. The tractor did two laps after heats 2, 4, 6 and 7 but after that I stopped counting as Ipswich had obviously given up and weren't interested anyway apart from Danny King and Cameron Heeps who got stuck in.
  19. Well, I'm not going to argue about that but I thought the Somerset match on March 22nd was far superior racing wise but probably not so good for Panthers fans as they lost. As a neutral tonight it was disappointing because only Danny and Cameron got stuck in and the track seemed to scare the rest of the Ipswich team.
  20. Yes, but not today - didn't really enjoy that as much as other matches I've been to. Overlooking the 3rd/4th bend it looked much too deep and over watered so presumably the 1st/2nd bend was the same. After moaning about all the track grading at Leicester in the first half of the match on Saturday I'm afraid Peterborough had more.
  21. I'm not sure if it was mentioned or not exactly why the start was being delayed as I just presumed fans were still waiting to get in and that was the reason but you're right on your other point about the grading. Just a simple announcement to say the riders have requested an extra track grade is all that's needed, rather than the tractor coming out for a few more laps when the match has only just started.
  22. In my case the fact Coventry won away, although a very nice surprise, didn't really have a great deal to do with whether I enjoyed the meeting or not. I've been to Leicester many times and thought the racing was much better than a lot of the matches I've seen there before, yet a neutral fan is saying it was rubbish so it just proves how supporters see things differently. Hanging around in the cold waiting for the match to start and too much track preparation is what bugs me but perhaps doesn't bother others if they're in a group with someone to talk to. I usually like to watch the youngsters at Coventry but didn't stay behind here because I was wondering if I'd get a parking ticket for exceeding 4 hours in the shopping centre car park. Do they enforce it late at night or don't bother?
