  1. Perhaps it's because I've not turned into a miserable old sod yet. There's still time.
  2. I'm pretty sure Max Clegg only found out he was riding via comments on Facebook as I happened to be reading them at the time when he came on.
  3. Perhaps when he's finished reading his own insensitive post again he can also read through his second one because he hit the nail on the head saying "an important press & practise day" because that's exactly what it is - riders meeting up as a team for the first time, receiving their suits, having photos taken, getting out on the track, meeting the fans. As has already been said Hans was already over here but then flew back to be with his family. He's hardly going to want to ride on 'Mother's Day' is he? Yes, always gun fights in Leicester every day. Only yesterday I had to run for cover as a neighbour ran after another one down the street firing a gun at him. The dogs were terrified. I tried to get them to chase after him and do a rugby tackle but they were having none of it. Wimps.
  4. I really don't think hiding user names will make any difference at all to the voting. If someone doesn't want to admit they're a 'lady over 60' it's because they just can't be bothered to vote in a poll not because their user name will be shown. 60 is nothing these days and I'll happily admit to being nearly 75.
  5. No apology from lionking either. Well done for the most insensitive post of the year so far. I'd say it was more important to be part of the Coventry team photos at press and practice day and try the track out than be at Leicester on Sunday for a run of the mill challenge match. Condolences to Hans and his family.
  6. I'd say a Leicester win too by around 10 points. The most important thing though is for all the riders to get through the meeting with no injuries.
  7. Service his ban? Journalism these days is shocking.
  8. I nearly added another sentence but was very restrained in view of my zero warning status.
  9. Perhaps because they're a pain in the bum and deserve criticism?
  10. And no car either, although probably someone else gets the job of ferrying him around everywhere. It's all sounding like really good preparation for the new season. Anyway, fans who are blaming Mick Horton for signing him - wasn't it Gary Havelock who started this off? It's all his damn fault.
  11. I'm really surprised that you don't like Facebook as there are some great Speedway groups on there that I'm sure you would enjoy. All you have to do is become a member and then join the groups you're interested in.
  12. True though. Most children at speedway meetings are a pain in the neck and can't sit still for five minutes let alone take any real interest in the racing. I wouldn't want to ruin my night by taking a ten year old along thanks. At least my dog just goes to sleep.
  13. I'd rather stick with the dog thanks as she's much less trouble. The last time I saw loads of 10 year old lads at the speedway was at Peterborough when there was some sort of Cubs invasion. Pain in the neck they were running around everywhere and not the slightest bit interested in watching the racing.
  14. Surely I'm not the only female admitting to be 'Over 60' and a Speedway fan? I'm feeling very lonely all on my own......which is probably why I always have my dog Lucy with me. I miss her.
  15. It's always good for a laugh reading threads like these.
  16. I've commented about that in the past but had a 'DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM?' telling off at Leicester so I'm saying nothing now. I know it was awful early on in the season with that inexperienced Pole doing it, but there were times later on that it was equally as diabolical - in particular the National League Fours and another National League match. I don't keep programmes any more so can't check but I think it was the Storm v Cradley. I thought Colin Pratt took over after the Pole left but he obviously won't be involved this season now he is with Swindon.
  17. Okay so I know those at Coventry have a red flag but do they also have a rake? I've never noticed so perhaps someone more observant can answer that one. Could be quite an obstacle course to have several rakes laying around in case they are needed.
  18. Sadly the answer is 'No' but we live in hope that this season there will be no problems with the track and meetings will be run quickly and smoothly.
  19. It would be interesting to know how many tracks still have rakers. Coventry don't. The most I have ever seen in the past was at Berwick with 9 on each bend.
  20. Not sure I agree with that statement as Susan Boyle seems to have done pretty well for herself as a dowdy middle aged woman when she started out on 'Britain's Got Talent'.
  21. Get on the 'phone and I'm sure they will send you another copy as they are pretty good helping if anything is wrong. Can't answer your question though as I no longer have the Speedway Star.
