City Gearboxes Coventry Storm V Mildenhall --fri May 16th
Gemini replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
I don't think anyone is knocking any mechanics and I'm certainly not. Just wondering why Stefan went back to using his first bike after coming out on bike number two but now you've given the reason I know why. Hope you are okay now. I heard the announcement asking for a paramedic to go to the pits and it made me think about what would happen if I collapsed at Brandon with the dog in tow and no-one knew who I was or where I lived. From now on at the top of my printed programme (sorry Neil!) I'm going to put my car registration and Leicester telephone number so Lucy doesn't end up in R.S.P.C.A kennels in Coventry. -

It's a new thing for Coventry though and rather disappointing considering how the Elite League is even more depleted this season but we're still paying the same price. I think probably all fans are in agreement that speedway is too expensive, especially for a family, so if a bit of money can be saved by printing off a programme instead of buying one then promoters shouldn't go out of their way to make it difficult. Regarding tyres - I haven't a scooby which post is correct but Stefan was leading heat 11 on his second bike before the race was stopped and then changed over to bike number 1 that had let him down in heat 10. It then did the same again which pretty much ended The Storm's hopes of a victory. -
How times change. These days the Coventry riders continually moan about the lack of shale and the track being too slick at Brandon.

Well, it won't work. In fact it has the opposite effect as it makes me even more determined not to buy a programme and I'm sure others think the same. I'd rather go without one, but as it happens I can usually find out what the teams are anyway and so apparently can all the other fans I saw with their own printed programmes. Bad idea promoters! You should not antagonise your fans over something so petty and make them disgruntled so you could lose them altogether. Anyway, on to the match which The Storm managed to throw away. Why on earth did Stefan Nielsen swop his bike just before the re-run of heat 11 back to the one that hadn't even moved out of the start in heat 10? The resulting failure again with the scores at 30 - 30 gave Mildenhall the lead which they held on to. Disappointing night for The Storm as I think they should have won this match but well done to Mildenhall. -
Not me. Why can't you read what I said which is that you don't support Peterborough or Coventry so I wouldn't expect you to donate anything to one of their riders. But there's really no need to keep going on about it because we know your feelings after being told numerous times. Same with the Leicester track - we know what you think about that as well and there are a great many people who agree, including me, but repetition of the same thing is extremely boring.
-
I've been on the forum since 2001 but I've never known anyone quite so repetitive as Robert72, having also seen multiple posts on the Leicester threads continually moaning about the track. Why go on and on about the same thing when you've made your point because it's totally boring for everyone else. You've made the choice not to donate anything to Ryan Fisher - and why should you be interested anyway being as you don't support either Coventry or Peterborough - but others have chosen to. That should be it, we get the message, so as The White Knight has said give it a rest now.
-
I think you might deserve a 'Wooooosh.....' here.
-
That should have been down to the person who started the thread, but it obviously didn't suit his agenda to give any details. Bit more information taken from the Peterborough website as they are holding their collection tomorrow night. PETERBOROUGH will be holding a collection for number one Ryan Fisher's family fund during their Premier League KO Cup first round, first leg clash against Scunthorpe at the East of England Showground tomorrow (Tuesday). The official Peterborough Panthers Speedway Supporters' Club (PPSSC) have already pledged a donation of £300 in a bid to help the American ace be reunited with his family. Fisher’s wife Daelyn and his children Abby Jo (7) and Harley (5) have been left stranded 5,000 miles away in California after being caught up in visa problems. They have been blocked from re-entering the United Kingdom until next January, but they have now been given the green light to base themselves in Poland for the remainder of the 2014 season. A collection at a recent meeting at Fisher's Elite League club, Coventry, raised close to £2,000 in donations from supporters and sponsors and club bosses are hopeful of another generous outlay from Panthers followers. Mick Horton, supremo of both clubs, said: "The collection received a great response at Coventry and I'm sure the fans at Peterborough will also give generously. "Fish is finding it incredibly tough being away from his family and we're doing all we can to help him."
-
From what I can understand he had already paid for his family's air fares but as they were unable to come to the U.K. he couldn't get a refund. It's a pity Sandie doesn't come on here to clarify but she's probably too cheesed off that someone has even started this topic to bother.

Peterborough V Scunthorpe - Tuesday 13th May 7.30pm
Gemini replied to NeilWatson's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Yes, it's been sacked and was last seen driving out of The Showground never to be seen again. -
Showing your age now. Incidentally how pathetic to have a ventriloquist act on the radio.
-
On the contrary I wouldn't accept anything and that's why I've only been to less than a dozen meetings since Leicester opened even though it's only up the road. £28 for both of us to watch gate and go speedway is not my idea of entertainment and even the other half has lost patience now. Not much point in keep going on about it though because it's all been repeated over and over again. I won't reply to the second sentence because you're just being daft.

Attempted? I thought they had changed it. -
We did have a new presentation/music team last night though. Perhaps the previous man took his old 78's with him.
-
On the contrary can we keep this thread going for as long as possible please because at least it keeps Robert72 off the Leicester topics repeatedly moaning about the track.
-
If Peterborough fans keep moaning they might take notice. It didn't make an appearance at Coventry tonight thank goodness. That wasn't directed at me but we've had the same thing foisted on us at Coventry this season and the answer is 'No, I'm not proud' because I've got no respect for the Royal Family with all the hunting and shooting of wildlife they do.

Peterborough Vs Edinburgh - Tues 6th May
Gemini replied to scotchopper's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
So why all the secrecy this time? Why don't the promotion explain why the match was called off as 'health and safety' reasons could be absolutely anything. I feel really sorry for a friend of mine from Edinburgh who had a hotel room booked for the night so had a wasted journey with all the fuel costs it entailed. No wonder very few fans travel to away matches. -
Thanks for that as it makes me feel so much better knowing I've not gone completely senile yet.
-
More than likely but I can't retain the majority of Speedway memories these days. Wasn't there a problem getting the meeting finished because it had taken so long and Newport didn't have any lights? That seems to ring a bell.
-
I can't remember which year it was but I daren't look at half of the racing during one Newport v Glasgow match as the riders didn't seem able to get round the first bend without trying to send the opposition into the fence. I bought the video later to watch the match.
-
Oh yes it was. My way of drawing my part in the discussion to a close. Anyway, just think how much I have extended this thread - if it hadn't been for me not being too sympathetic about Lewis's 'depression' it would just have been full of 'Aww.....get better soon Lewis' type posts and would have struggled to reach two pages. Perhaps I am influenced by Facebook too much and all the 'take notice of me today, I'm feeling depressed' posts followed by a loads of 'Oh dear....what's wrong? Take care. Aww...we all love you.' I actually do wish Lewis well and I'm sure he will be on top form against Coventry. And you've gone and done it Vince because it wasn't my last post now but this is.
-
I don't really need telling as that was my last post anyway. Just summing up.
-
I think we can all relax now anyway because Lewis seems to have recovered and is looking forward to riding for Lakeside in their match against Coventry and I've learned a valuable lesson about depression so all is well with the World again.

Coventry Storm V Kent Kings - Friday 2nd May
Gemini replied to NeilWatson's topic in National League Speedway
Thanks Neil. I can't see that far from the back straight. So Peter was right about him choosing the outside gate but wrong in saying he was in white. It's just a shame someone couldn't have whispered in his ear before the end of the race so he didn't carry on thinking James had won. Thank goodness for David Hammond. -

Yes as I found out. Not too many alterations though and at least it was better than being in alphabetical order and no Kent team announced at all. I'm surprised no one has mentioned the complete mess up by Peter York regarding the winner of the Bronze Helmet. I can get confused enough without him helping matters as he definitely said Lambert had chosen to take the outside gate, but in actual fact he lined up in red on the inside. Unfortunately Peter still carried on thinking it was Lambert in white so announced the winner of the Helmet as James Sarjeant when he came round to collect his 'prize.' Oh dear. The match itself was a bit one sided but there was still some good racing with passing in all but five of the heats. Luke Crang was very impressive and has certainly shown a great deal of improvement lately. Well done to all the lads on both sides.
