Which Clubs Allow Fans Into The Pits?
Gemini replied to Sophies Mate's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Makes me wonder if everything had to be squeezed into a certain amount of space or if more land was available because there is loads there - all doing nothing at the moment. -

That's perhaps where they got the idea from then. I think Neil goes to Ice Hockey matches. Don't see why not as it's no different to sitting on a chair on the terraces so I guess that would make me a 'real arse.' Once we've given the dogs a run around on the grass before the meeting and they've setted down on their blankets under the seats I'm not getting up again. Perhaps it's just as well since Peterborough have dropped down from the E.L. that I've not been to the Showground as I would be a complete embarrassment to those around me. -
Perhaps in case a rider flips at the start? I can remember one at Leicester who broke his back but at the moment due to a complete memory loss I can't think who it was. I always used to know so I must be cracking up faster than I thought.

Oh goody. Does that mean now Chris is back that it's going to be jazzed up a bit? Won't make any difference to me though because I'm still not standing up as it makes the dog wake up and she thinks we're going home if I do that. -

Peterborough fans can't be moaning enough because we managed to get rid of it at Coventry. Come on - surely there are some fans who are capable of a good whinge. -
Good idea. I'm willing to donate the same amount that I gave to Bomber's 'Go Fund My 2014 G.P. Expenses.' Just let me know when it's set up.

Oh great! I hope it chucks it down all day and everywhere is knee deep in mud. -
Sounds a good idea but what about gate positions? Even when it's just one rider starting from 15 mtrs back he has to have the outside gate so confusion could reign.

Swedish Elitserien 2014 Round 3
Gemini replied to Ghostwalker's topic in International World of Speedway
I wasn't really in any hurry to watch it as I don't really find racing from other countries that interesting so I missed the first few races but must admit I enjoyed it and the track looked great. What impressed me the most were lots of fans sitting on fold up chairs, complete with sandwiches and flasks and not just older people either. SCB would have a field day with this lot. No blankets over knees though as it looked to be a lovely evening. -

Around 118 miles between the two stadiums and roughly two hours travelling time. I suppose he could do it if there are no hold ups at Scunthorpe. -

Surely he will be riding for Coventry? Damn! Just beaten to it by a second. -
Yes I did. If he went on Britain's Got Talent these days David Walliams would probably put him through to the final.

Glad you enjoyed the book. As to the music the Hunters marched out to I hope you realize I won't sleep tonight now trying to remember what it was. I thought it had always been 'Imperial Echoes' but you've got me thinking now. If I find out I'll let you know.

City Gearboxes Coventry Storm V Mildenhall --fri May 16th
Gemini replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
Thanks Neil. I haven't got a mobile phone as the one I was given second hand by my son-in-law about 10 years ago was suddenly cut off last week. How very dare they? All I had to do was make sure £10 was put on once a year and it's been working fine all this time. I'd still got about £8 on it too so it looks like I've lost that. Cheeky blighters! -

I don't think anyone is knocking any mechanics and I'm certainly not. Just wondering why Stefan went back to using his first bike after coming out on bike number two but now you've given the reason I know why. Hope you are okay now. I heard the announcement asking for a paramedic to go to the pits and it made me think about what would happen if I collapsed at Brandon with the dog in tow and no-one knew who I was or where I lived. From now on at the top of my printed programme (sorry Neil!) I'm going to put my car registration and Leicester telephone number so Lucy doesn't end up in R.S.P.C.A kennels in Coventry. -

It's a new thing for Coventry though and rather disappointing considering how the Elite League is even more depleted this season but we're still paying the same price. I think probably all fans are in agreement that speedway is too expensive, especially for a family, so if a bit of money can be saved by printing off a programme instead of buying one then promoters shouldn't go out of their way to make it difficult. Regarding tyres - I haven't a scooby which post is correct but Stefan was leading heat 11 on his second bike before the race was stopped and then changed over to bike number 1 that had let him down in heat 10. It then did the same again which pretty much ended The Storm's hopes of a victory. -
How times change. These days the Coventry riders continually moan about the lack of shale and the track being too slick at Brandon.

Gemini replied to Main Man's topic in National League Speedway
Well, it won't work. In fact it has the opposite effect as it makes me even more determined not to buy a programme and I'm sure others think the same. I'd rather go without one, but as it happens I can usually find out what the teams are anyway and so apparently can all the other fans I saw with their own printed programmes. Bad idea promoters! You should not antagonise your fans over something so petty and make them disgruntled so you could lose them altogether. Anyway, on to the match which The Storm managed to throw away. Why on earth did Stefan Nielsen swop his bike just before the re-run of heat 11 back to the one that hadn't even moved out of the start in heat 10? The resulting failure again with the scores at 30 - 30 gave Mildenhall the lead which they held on to. Disappointing night for The Storm as I think they should have won this match but well done to Mildenhall. -
Not me. Why can't you read what I said which is that you don't support Peterborough or Coventry so I wouldn't expect you to donate anything to one of their riders. But there's really no need to keep going on about it because we know your feelings after being told numerous times. Same with the Leicester track - we know what you think about that as well and there are a great many people who agree, including me, but repetition of the same thing is extremely boring.
-
I've been on the forum since 2001 but I've never known anyone quite so repetitive as Robert72, having also seen multiple posts on the Leicester threads continually moaning about the track. Why go on and on about the same thing when you've made your point because it's totally boring for everyone else. You've made the choice not to donate anything to Ryan Fisher - and why should you be interested anyway being as you don't support either Coventry or Peterborough - but others have chosen to. That should be it, we get the message, so as The White Knight has said give it a rest now.
-
I think you might deserve a 'Wooooosh.....' here.
-
That should have been down to the person who started the thread, but it obviously didn't suit his agenda to give any details. Bit more information taken from the Peterborough website as they are holding their collection tomorrow night. PETERBOROUGH will be holding a collection for number one Ryan Fisher's family fund during their Premier League KO Cup first round, first leg clash against Scunthorpe at the East of England Showground tomorrow (Tuesday). The official Peterborough Panthers Speedway Supporters' Club (PPSSC) have already pledged a donation of £300 in a bid to help the American ace be reunited with his family. Fisher’s wife Daelyn and his children Abby Jo (7) and Harley (5) have been left stranded 5,000 miles away in California after being caught up in visa problems. They have been blocked from re-entering the United Kingdom until next January, but they have now been given the green light to base themselves in Poland for the remainder of the 2014 season. A collection at a recent meeting at Fisher's Elite League club, Coventry, raised close to £2,000 in donations from supporters and sponsors and club bosses are hopeful of another generous outlay from Panthers followers. Mick Horton, supremo of both clubs, said: "The collection received a great response at Coventry and I'm sure the fans at Peterborough will also give generously. "Fish is finding it incredibly tough being away from his family and we're doing all we can to help him."

From what I can understand he had already paid for his family's air fares but as they were unable to come to the U.K. he couldn't get a refund. It's a pity Sandie doesn't come on here to clarify but she's probably too cheesed off that someone has even started this topic to bother.
