Swc Event 1 King's Lynn 26/07/14
Gemini replied to Bagpuss's topic in Speedway Grand Prix and Speedway World Cup
If you can see his face to circulate round every track you're cleverer than me. -
Me too. I'd probably also now know a better way home than the stupid idea the sat nav had. A15 Lincoln - A46 Newark. Okay in the day time perhaps but not in the dark on roads I'd never been on before. After about 23 miles I'd had enough and headed back to Scunthorpe. Love motorways so went on the M180, M18 and M1 to Leicester. It doesn't make me feel any better that Speedibee got back in an hour and a half using that route after his son's MDL match after the main meeting.

I always go to the Storm meetings but sounds like I was lucky to miss this one as we had been in North Yorkshire for the week and went to Scunthorpe via a detour back home. Never been before as it always clashes with Coventry's race night but was very impressed with the set up there and the racing was first class.
-
Not aimed at me either but I've not subscribed to Sky Sports this season for the first time and have only missed it on the odd occasion. I can watch the G.P's etc. on Eurosport, also the Swedish matches if I wanted to but strangely enough I've not really been that interested in them. I've watched a couple of the matches but that's all. Still watch the G.P's but if they weren't on Eurosport I probably wouldn't bother with them either. Should I get worried?

First ever visit to Scunthorpe - this track anyway as we've been to the old Quibel Park or whatever it was called - and what a brilliant set up it is. So glad I decided to go home from North Yorkshire on Friday instead of Saturday so we could call in and watch this meeting as the Bees weren't riding. Loved everything about it and the racing was great. What a shame my local track Leicester couldn't have been built like this instead of the one the promoter designed which just mainly produces gate and go racing. Also being a dog lover, (although I'm sure no-one has got that impression of me) it was lovely to see so many dogs around the place. All different breeds and sizes behaving themselves - I've not seen that many dogs in one place since Crufts. Unfortunately my two just went to sleep as usual so didn't appreciate the cracking speedway. Forgot to add - £1 for a programme. Just the right price as I don't want to spend the usual £2.50p plus on something I'm going to chuck in the bin when I get home, hence the reason why I print my own programme for Coventry matches. Promoters being deliberately awkward and putting the teams in alphabetical order won't make me buy one as I just take a blank piece of paper to write the scores down if I can't find out the riding order.

Tai Woffinden's Views On Single Night Racing In Uk
Gemini replied to clambo71's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
And they'll afford them even less if some tracks change their regular race night. -
Thanks Lioness. Just checked and it is set to 'Off' still. Perhaps it was because I'd added the video of the disabled dogs running around to my own timeline so it played automatically.
-
Yes, I hate that. There is a way to stop it happening and I changed my settings accordingly about a month or so ago but now they've gone back to automatically playing again. If only I could remember what I did.

Yes, I think a 'Woosh' is in order here. -

Coventry Elite League prices are pretty similar to yours. There is nearly always a second half with youngsters riding in the MDL too so better value than some tracks. ADULTS £17 OAPS/STUDENTS £13 CHILDREN (UNDER 16) £3 CHILDREN (UNDER 11) FREE Programme: £2.50 -

For heaven's sake please no. We've only just stopped Peter York doing this after many complaints from the fans. -

Coventry V Cradley - Friday 27th June

Not surprised.....but disappointed. -
Bit too serious and mardy for me.

Perhaps it's just me but I think the forum is fine as it is and doesn't need any killing off of members or to make it a closed board. ( I'll defend the right to keep Pawprint alive to the bitter end.) What is needed though is a sense of humour which sadly some don't seem to possess.

Correct - Anne Hegerty one of the chasers on The Chase. Personally I prefer Paul Sinha, although The Beast is rather attractive as well.

Yes that's the one. I mustn't be too critical as I suppose being filmed on the toilet is what young lads do these days. Also Fleece, Caps and Tops all with Speedway Forum embroidered on them. I know because Ray still has his and wears them regularly and I have my Fleece. I keep trying to throw the cap away because it's rather faded now but I think Ray is very attached to it and won't let me.

I get to see them ride at Coventry and they really are something special but I'm afraid I just couldn't cope with two sons riding as it must be bad enough worrying about one.
-
Lioness would like that. She'd be on the front row.
-
And another one whose name I can't remember who became more famous for having himself filmed on the toilet. James somebody was it? Money well spent there.
