Yes, it was worth the long walk and I'll have to get used to it because I'll be a regular now, as I was last season after they allowed dogs. Good crowd and good racing, which will only improve as the track beds in and the riders get used to it. They really need to get more booths open to pay though as two is not enough. I can remember last season when there was a big queue someone used to come along the line and tell you if you had the correct money you could pay at the gate. Perhaps they are short of volunteers now? I miss Danielle on the gate. Yes. There was an improvement in the racing last season after bends 3/4 were altered so I fully expect it to be even better now 1 and 2 have been sorted out, once the track beds in of course. Well, we stood with three of them all night on the 4th bend so add them to the total. That's what is so nice about Speedway ~ rival fans can stand together and enjoy the racing win or lose. Have known these Swindon fans for many years and we always stand together (Coventry and Leicester) when the Robins are in town.

If you look at this thread there are quite a few disgruntled fans. http://www.speedway-forum.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=83786

Yes I did ~ I borrowed the stewards at the gate while I waited for Ray to pay as he was ages. Well, no one was sitting in it so why not. Next time I must remember to keep our seats with me rather than letting them disappear with Ray in the queue as I was shattered. It's quite a long walk from the shopping centre and I discovered I'm not very fit yet.

Massive queue and getting bigger.

Very brief shower about 4.30pm but blue sky now so all systems go.
-
Don't think anyone would dare.
-
Who knows. Perhaps the promotion will confirm everything is okay tomorrow or BTFC LION will nip in again and let us know all the heavy machinery has gone.
-
Yes I know. Unless things have changed dogs are allowed. If they're not they won't see me there this season, with the exception of the Coventry match of course.
-
Blimey! That's awful. Perhaps the person who was complaining about paying £1 at Peterborough should read this.

Lucy liked that.

Yes, sorry I shouldn't be looking at AA routes late at night as my brain has probably already gone to sleep. Roughly 109 miles from Swindon to Leicester. I do know grachan and where he lives, unless he's moved, and it's probably the same distance. As to your other remarks I'm afraid this is a forum for people's opinions and some of us are concerned about the track and until there is a statement from the promoters saying everything is fine it's a bit of a worry whether to travel or not. I doubt if anyone would take notice of what I've said or grachan but will make up their own mind. Why is Josh Bates missing? I thought it was just King and Auty.
-
Why if there are more races? It's up to the individual whether they stay or not and get value for money but personally I used to be one of the last to leave Coventry as I liked watching the second half races. Delays, unless absolutely necessary due to a crash, are a pain in the neck especially when fans are left standing around not knowing what's going on like at Peterborough recently before heat 15.

Not all Swindon fans live in Swindon though so he could be even further away. I understand his concerns because even to drive somewhere for two hours solid I'd want to make sure beforehand that it was going to be worth the journey as it's still a long 400 mile round trip. I'm only about 4 miles away but I'm not sure whether to go or not yet. Soft spots and Jason Doyle don't really go together so it's a bit worrying after what happened at Poole. Hopefully everything will be okay for Saturday.
-
Any problems and Doyle will lead the revolt so it's got to be perfect. Best to call it off beforehand if there is any doubt at all rather than risk another Speedway shambles.
-
Yes, three days to go to get the track sorted out so hopefully Glyn will confirm it's been tested and all okay by then. I did say I wasn't going but I'm sure on Saturday I'll change my mind as it's been a long Winter. Just hope I'm not going to regret that decision.

You're never alone at a Speedway meeting ~ just plonk yourself next to a group of home fans and start talking, but not during a race of course. Sounds like a great few days in prospect so hope the weather behaves and you have a lovely time.
-
Already mentioned by others but here is the full statement. I think I will give Saturday a miss and wait until the full team is riding and the track is definitely okay. Leicester Lions Speedway Team Tomorrow’s team practice event that was planned between 2.30pm and 5.00pm has been called off. There is a slight issue into turn two that needs resolving which has meant further work is required and this will start in the morning which has led to this decision. Lions Promoter David Darcy said: “It is disappointing to postpone the practice as I know that the riders want the track time to get acclimatised to the new shape and fans were looking forward to seeing the new team but first and foremost safety is at the front of my thinking. We have spent considerable time and expense in improving the overall condition of the circuit but a minor problem has manifested itself which needs rectifying to our satisfaction. I am sure that fans will understand that we have a duty to ensure a safe surface to race on and anything less is unacceptable.” Fans will still have the opportunity to meet the Leicester riders at the ‘Talk In’ event with the team and management in the Stadium Bar which start at 6.00pm. Season ticket holders will still be able to collect their passes from 2.30pm in the Stadium Bar if they wish to.

Uncertainty Over Teams And Sky Tv
Gemini replied to Nobblytriers's topic in Speedway News and Discussions
Any little snippets please as I don't have this magazine? I must admit I was always sceptical about Martin not knowing anything because the last meeting was quite weird as it just fizzled out without any of the usual 'Goodbye's ~ see you next season' or fun and games that used to go on back then. However, he insists that he didn't know and the decision came out of the blue so I have to believe him. -
They don't interest me either but I did make an exception for the Chris Harris one last season and very enjoyable it was too.
-
Have you got a link for that please because the ones I've found are certainly not Darcy Ward? I already knew he was a foul mouthed plonker though.
-
You're getting me worried now. Do you have some inside information as you seem to be rather concerned lately about the track not being ready.

Campaign To Get Coventry Bees Back Racing In 2018.
Gemini replied to NSSC News's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Hopefully Leicester won't plan on having a fixture the same day as we would be missing Danny and Josh if they do. At the moment it is just 'Reserved.' -
Lol. Very good Shirl. Made me laugh.

Good point as I know Ipswich have first pick on King, but I don't know about Bates. Even so if I was a Kings Lynn fan I would still choose Danny over Chris Holder because of the Polish issues.
