  1. I'm not surprised. Hope it's not too bad.
  2. I think he was last year wasn't he and paid for the alterations? Looks like a good chunk to me. https://www.facebook.com/LeicesterLionsSpeedway/photos/pcb.1433618000013306/1433617703346669/?type=3&theater
  3. No but this looks like one at the beginning of his post. Have to ask, but does anybody know of a team in any division that has been given this long to be in any League of any kind?
  4. Johnnie Chamberlain at 4ft 9ins must surely be the smallest rider ever? https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150147809132785&set=a.10150144289657785.323814.550797784&type=3&theater
  5. Broken leg apparently. During the 1974-75 British Lions tour of Australia he was spotted in a North Qld vs Great Britain meeting by Lions team manager Wally Mawdsley and made his British League debut with the Exeter Falcons in 1975 alongside then four time World Champion Ivan Mauger. A broken wrist meant that he missed most of the 1976 season but he progressed on his return, reaching the Intercontinental Final in 1978.[2] He requested a transfer at the end of the season and in 1979 joined his friend John Titman at Leicester Lions. A hand injury limited his season and the following season only lasted until April, when he suffered a broken leg while riding in a Midland League match against Birmingham, complications from the injury ending his career.
  6. They were on the verge of closing down before he took over though so who was the promoter then? Admittedly it didn't work out that season but Peterborough always seem to struggle to keep going from one year to the next. I'm just glad they seem more stable now as it's my favourite track and Sunday meeting are ideal for me to get over from Leicester. They allow dogs too which is always a bonus. Won't be worth the effort of him driving over from Peterborough then will it? Why would he bother.
  7. It's my response. It's just another negative thread and we have enough miserable sods on the Coventry 2017 one as it is. . Might as well start another poll 'Will Belle Vue start the season?' Would anyone do that? Probably not because it's insensitive so why do one asking if Coventry will complete the season.
  8. That's all we want ~ another negative Coventry thread. Why are you bothered anyway if you are a Poole supporter? I won't be voting because I haven't got a crystal ball where I can look into the future.
  9. Well, I've seen him there often enough so how does he get in? Would you care to explain what happened when he was involved last time with Peterborough because from what I can understand they were on the verge of closing down before he took over? In hindsight Tuesday night racing was a big mistake and he must have lost loads of money keeping going to the end of the season.
  10. Take no notice of Speedibee as he gets grumpy about everything.
  11. Of course no-one knows because the owners of the stadium/land want to build houses on it so presumably don't want the Speedway or Stock Cars back. In spite of all the negative comments by the same people on here I'm just glad I've been able to support the Bees since Sandhu took over in 2004 because it could all have ended then. As it is we have had 13 seasons with number 14 coming up and strangely enough I'm really looking forward to it whether it all ends in June, July, August or not.
  12. I'm doing really well tonight ~ two posts I've written but then changed my mind about sending because there's no point in corresponding with miserable people who will always find something to moan about no matter what happens. Well done to the Coventry promotion under difficult circumstances and I hope a good number of fans are able to get to Leicester. I've been doing it the opposite way round for over 30 years so it will be nice for me to just drive a few miles up the road for a change.
  13. You put it so much better than me. In other words nigh on impossible. I had planned to get one this season so as to avoid having to go through turnstiles with seat, bag and dog...plus the addition of a crutch I imagine now.....but that was at Brandon. I won't be getting one for Leicester as it's just straight through.
  14. So far so good as the sun is out. Perfect weather.
  15. Okay fair enough I don't follow football so no idea what the attendances are like for those clubs but you say 'running it as a supporters owned club' which is a bit different to having to build a new home somewhere as you said in your original post. Any old grass field would do for a football match, just stick some goal posts up and paint a few lines and they're away. Speedway is completely different needing a track, tractors, starting gate, lights, loudspeakers, toilets, food outlets, pits, car park etc. etc., and that's if you can find somewhere miles away from any houses to avoid complaints about noisy motorbikes.
  16. I wouldn't say they haven't got the passion and desire but there are a sight lot more football fans than there are speedway so they've probably got more chance of running the club themselves.
  17. When has he exactly said that? All I can remember is him being very quiet on everything that's gone on for the last few months, apart from recently saying the Bees will start the season at Leicester. Build a new home? Never in a million years could a group of fans be able to control the club and do this. It took Leicester 28 years. I don't think I can hang around that long.
  18. I've never seen him so no idea how old he is or what he looks like but I just love his voice. Whether I like someone's voice is all important to me and that's why I wouldn't ever watch Eastenders as it's full of annoying Cockneys like Danny Dwyer or whatever his name is. (Hoping Norbold doesn't read this or I'm in trouble.)
  19. Well, it looks like Peter will be missing this season as the Leicester presenters are being used I think? Will miss David Hammond though as the announcer as I really like his voice. Not had the pleasure of hearing the Sheffield one as I've not been for years since dogs were banned.
  20. Which tracks have increased admission charges? Leicester have dropped their price by £1. Not sure about Coventry as they haven't released anything yet.
  21. Agree ~ I can't stand it. Peter York used to really irritate me commenting on the race for the last two laps ~ sometimes before if something he thought was interesting was happening. He stopped ~ or was probably stopped by the Coventry promoters thank goodness ~ 2 or 3 years ago.
  22. Have you changed your mind about Sandhu being involved with Brandon Estates now?
