  1. I think we need to see Steve Sholvar's clip again. Where are you Steve?
  2. Well, ignoring that bit it's obviously perfect....but not as perfect as Wolverhampton and Swindon. I find that bit strange about riders being able to race with 'confidence and close to one another' because whenever I've been it has mostly been strung out racing. Also numerous incidents on the bends as some riders seem to find them difficult to get round due to the shape of the track. But that subject has been done to death so not much point in going on about it as nothing is going to change.
  3. Well there you go then, proof that David Hemsley has been right all along and no way will he ever alter the track now. Bronze for Leicester Track It was announced today that Leicester’s track was assessed as the third best in the 2015 Elite League Track of the Year award behind Wolverhampton and Swindon. The marks are awarded by the Speedway Control Bureau referees who officiate at each meeting and the areas for assessment include track preparation and surface, inner edge, infield, safety fence and airbag panels. “We pride ourselves in creating a race track that is safe for the competitors which allows them to perform to their maximum. Our track curator Glyn Taylor creates a surface that is consistent from the start-line to the finish which means there is no real home advantage as it is fair to both teams and the riders are therefore able to race with confidence and close to one another” explained the Lions Promoter David Hemsley.
  4. There is supposed to be a plot of land being looked at and more news before Christmas but who knows?
  5. Certain forum members have recently gone very much down in my estimation. It's a wonder they aren't dizzy with all the spinning. On the other hand a post like the one below restores my faith that there are at least some decent Poole fans who can see through the Blue and White mist. Thank you foreverblue. "So Dak was always keen to ride in this country next season as most of us would have thought until P.O.P told us he was not riding here in 2016 and Skidder doing a lot of wriggling. It would appear they dont know as much as they would like us to think!
  6. Welcome back as reserve Callum Walker.....and the dogs.
  7. Best person to answer this is Speedibee. He loves Australian riders.
  8. I don't think that's the reason ~ more like they're struggling to find riders themselves. If Leicester was going to drop out they'd have done it before now.
  9. I thought you'd already got him sussed yesterday and put him on ignore? Strangely enough without speaking to Dak directly I was able to look in my crystal ball and predict, as soon as it was posted on here that he would not be returning for the 2016 season but staying home to care for his Dad, that he would actually be back. I think it was all a ploy to remove himself from Poole and Matt Ford's rule bending, which unfortunately involved him this time. He knew all along he'd easily get another E.L. club so as soon as Matt had completed his team he could have a 'change of mind' and make himself available. Very clever thinking. Well done Dak.
  10. I like the majority of Jim's paintings but not this one as I'm not keen on the mix of action shot and drawing of Crump together. A good action painting of Jason would have been enough, then a separate portrait if really necessary. I'd skip the portrait altogether actually.
  11. I like to think that he has some integrity after all and was not happy to be used by Matt Ford to bend the rules so chose to go elsewhere next season once he'd made his mind up what he was doing in 2016.
  12. I've never understood the hatred for this. If it had been one of the English lads helping a fellow rider no one would have complained. For instance if Peter Collins by losing a race could help Chris Morton also qualify then why not? Not doing it would be selfish.
  13. Whereas of course he fully expected to not get any offers and instead be a full time carer for his dad. Yeah right.
  14. Shame it's not just an action shot. I can't see you selling it but good luck anyway.
  15. Don't think so, although his acting career didn't last very long. He was the darling of the Cradley Heath fans but he did leave them somewhat in the lurch from what I can remember as he didn't finish the season with them. I'm sure one of those fans will comment later.
  16. Don't think his balls will ever drop because he hasn't got any. So easy to spot each time though.
  17. I'm probably older than you actually as I first went to Speedway at Blackbird Road in 1949. What on earth would I do without a gustix link to find my way to the 'Years Gone By' section. I'm still not going though. Anyway, here's the man himself in his prime on the right hand side of the photo. https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xaf1/v/t1.0-9/148310_10150144557287785_6869528_n.jpg?oh=195f464af328552d0d2914535d246685&oe=571976DB
  18. I'm not a betting person but I'd like to have a bet on that not happening.
  19. Oh gosh sorry. I never go in there ~ too many old people probably discussing how much better Speedway was years ago and recalling events I can't even remember.
  20. I suppose only us 'oldies' will remember him but he was always one of my favourite riders when he rode for the Hunters. RIP Bryan. Courtesy of the Lions website. "We are sad to learn that Bryan Elliott passed away in Adelaide, Australia a week last Friday. Bryan was elected captain of the Leicester Hunters junior team in 1954 and that year he made his senior debut in the match at home to Bristol, which was the start of a long career at Leicester. Another thirty-two appearances followed over the next two seasons and his big breakthrough came in 1957 when he scored nine points against Rayleigh. That fixture turned out to be the springboard that secured him a regular place in the team. Adding another two points a match to his league average in 1958, Bryan maintained this level through the following summer before international caps came his way and a World Fin al appearance in 1960 completed his best year in speedway. If there were titles to be handed out then the label of ‘Mr Dependable’ would have been awarded to Bryan who between June 1957 and September 1961 never once missed a meeting having ridden in 148 consecutive matches. Bryan was forced to leave his home town club in 1962 when Leicester dropped down a division. He then signed for Coventry although towards the end of the season was given special dispensation to ride for both clubs. Elliott stayed at Brandon until the end of 1964 before helping Halifax re-launch the sport at the Shay. Shortly after marrying, Bryan emigrated to Australia. He was eighty five years old."
  21. I do love a poster that corrects someone and then makes a mistake themselves.
  22. This is sounding like a fun season ahead ~ a new Pole getting to grips with the track and Josh Bates who seems to get excluded a lot, plus the anticipation of waiting to see if Sarjeant jumps the start. Will we get the KK who is wanting to race or the one who toddles round at the back completely disinterested? I can't wait for March to find out the answers.
  23. Oh good. That will keep us debating and moaning for another few months once it becomes clear who is and who isn't on it instead of all the speculation.
  24. Of course not as you're very good at arguing. You wouldn't get involved in half as many disagreements if you just answered straight forward questions and stopped saying things are fact when it's just your opinion. Having an opinion doesn't actually make it factual but hey ho carry on as you obviously enjoy arguments even if you end up looking a bit silly. Which means that 5 out of 6 are managing okay. That's a pretty good percentage and it depends if those 16% are still finding the money to smoke and drink whilst cutting back on other things.
  25. Someone had to pay for a team that were top of the league for most of the season. Hans Andersen wouldn't have been paid peanuts either, even though that's all he deserved. How much is it at Poole then? Can't you find something else to do like learning how to spell conveniently, wander and allegedly instead of following Gavan around? If you'd just answered the question you were asked in the first place we wouldn't be continually going round in circles....again.
