Racing at the end of March even at the best tracks is usually pish with the weather and track being too wet/cold to think about making a pass and riders not wanting to risk it in what is essentially a challenge match. Big name opposition from the EL would have been just the ticket for the launch meeting, supposing we got a humping, it would be great to see Holder, Iversen etc rather than trundle out the same old 'bragging rights' bull that gets spouted when Edinburgh are due to visit. Supposing we beat them, I really couldn't care, just don't want to see them any more than we have to.

Friggin Spring Trophy as an opener and the Monarchs twice in 3 weeks at Ashfield. Had hoped this shyt would be canned with the re-launch of the Tigers.
-
Its time for Summers to consult legal advice should he be squeezed out. Potentially signing for Glasgow has taken his situation to the brink and Glasgow should support him financially in that instance.
-
To get that it would have to be an opening meeting against the Monarchs. Heaven forbid they might bring a reasonable number over.

Stuart Robson. Bit of justice handed out by Havvy jnr?

Premier League 2015 Predictions
MD replied to cambpanther's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
More like FC United of Manchester! -
It is a change of ownership not change of promoters, who have been around a fair few years and know the score. I very much doubt Glasgow will be held to ransom.
-
Monarchs fans had stopped showing up in any numbers for 3 seasons prior to June 2010, to suggest it was because of the debacle at Armadale that month is absolute folly. The nonsense that night at Armadale finished off the remaining few, of which they are entirely justified. Trying to entice them back will be nigh on impossible, once you get out of the mode of doing something you no longer miss it, though I suspect for many it is a hardened mentality towards Glasgow than anything else.

Its been like that throughout my time watching speedway, during much of the Powderhall era, the Monarchs were notoriously poor travellers to Shawfield though were a bit better at Craighead Park. They did go through a renaissance during the early years of Armadale, packing out the fourth bend shed but that's going back a few years now. That's why I'm still astounded at the non reciprocal nature of our followers who I understand still travel through to Armadale in decent numbers. And for a gubbing. By heat 6!
-
Its been like that since around 2007 hence I stopped going to Armadale in 2008 and won't entertain the 'both teams need each other' crap that gets touted on here. It is however part of the general trend in speedway that fans no longer really travel to away matches, just that the Mon's started the trend!
-
Hopefully both the Spring Trophy and Scottish Cup are in the past now. Its a new start for us and don't want to ruin it with matches the paying fans don't want to see. Twice a season seeing the Monarchs at home is more than enough for me.

[quote name="Gazc" post="2559607" timestamp="1419712288" They might be new owners off the Club but have experienced Promoters on board assisting them in Stewart Dickson & Alan Dick and knowing both these two i would be very surprised that the proposed dealing's with Redcar haven't been done by the book. Different promoters have different books!

Wishful thinking it would be someone else!

Fair point, Theo it is then!

Vissing 7.09 Theo 7.09 Rusty 6.50 - best home rider by far last year Time for common sense to break out and move on to another rider.

No one is owned by anyone, slavery is over. Footballers are contracted to a club for the length of their contract, should they wish to move to another club during that contractual period the pursuing team will have to pay a transfer fee based on the players ability and the length of time remaining on the original contract. At the end of the contractual period, the player is free to sign for whom he chooses without any transfer fee due to the previous club.
-
He isn't bound by any law or obligation so why would it be illegal? He never signed a contract to ride for Redcar next year. If he had, different story.
-
No one is an asset of any club, their 'asset' status has no monetary or legal value and you couldn't take it to a bank and borrow against it. It is an archaic system that the administration of British speedway has failed to adapt from, having been outlawed by EU law most notably football around 20 years ago as a result of the Jean Marc Bosman ruling. Poland as an EU nation operate a system where riders are free to move after the end of their contract following the season end, why doesn't Britain. With Glasgow having deep pockets this year perhaps some of it could be spent on strong legal advice, then hope they don't get ostracised as Sands did around 2001. Should they part with any money for Summers they want their head looked at.
-
Great point though how long do you wait? There are only a few other options left we could pursue for the last spot. Regardless no money should be changing hands.
-
He should go to court if that happens, be the test case and stop it happening to anyone else in future.
-
True but if it could happen the extra rent could contribute towards funding the losses of speedway and/or improving the facilities.
-
A return to Shawfield? Why are Clyde leaving Broadwood anyway?
-
Seems Jack Holder won't be going to Somerset. Would come in on a 7.00. What a Christmas present that could be, and we wouldn't need to pay Redcar any money. Hmm!
-
We have nowhere to go if two 3.00 reserves don't cut it. We could have fitted in Rusty then had at least 4.00 to play with at reserve. We had top heavy teams throughout the 2000's, I don't remember any successes, I won't count the Pairs for this. 2006 was a decent year with Parker and Bird though mainly with Kauko chucking 2 points on his average. We still didn't win the league.

The rules of the jungle definitely apply. The outside bit is segregated by wire fencing all the way round.
