Branford and Morley were a cut above in this match that was going Coventry,s way until the last 3 heats with 5-1,s from Ben and Rob in heat 13,,;;then a fortunate 5-1 from Woods and Lock who at least managed to stay upright this time... after Parkinson Blackburn sustained a puncture in the lead ... so a bit of overdue luck for the Raiders....Ben flew from the gate in heat fifteen and waited for Rob,,they then switched lines ,.and team rode home for what had looked an unlikely team victory early on .....Hunter had a spin after and could be back for the next match...So one of Locke ,,Leek or Saul could be out...Crowd was reasonable considering the time of the meeting, .dodgy weather,, and Lakeside running this evening where Rob Branford is riding for Coventry as a guest,,, ive heard at No 1 ?,,,good luck with that one Rob ..Racing was about what you would expect a bit processional on a slik track...

Plymouth Vs Rye House 19/08/2016 @ 1915
waco replied to pitgate52's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
There.is little doubt Rye would have won with Kennet,Very poor choice of guest ,and you have to ask why Kennet was not there when his match was called off at 11-30am?.Who,s decision was that ?..good team performance that deserved better.. -

We are doing well at the moment, but will Kennet not being there cost us in the end? -

Anyone know if Kennet is now riding at Plymouth -
While not the strongest team in the league ,I.O.W home track advantage could be the telling factor ,, All though from what i have seen i would expect Locke to be more effective on a big track,,good luck to all the lads tonight..

I have spoken to riders that have taken part in the six man team trial matches and they recon it is a rubbish format...

I am all in favour of two british reserves at least one from the National and the other under 5 average ,We most do everything possible to bring on the british boys.. agree with Ben 91 if one moves up in to the 1-5 ,great this is what we hope they will do,,and replace at res with another brit...
-
Personally i think divide the National league riders average by 50% and fit them in to the Premier league at reserve within the points limit..It is about right on most national league riders at present in that league and is so simple to do...At least one per team and foreign riders on at least a 5 point average if at reserve....

Agree there are at least 4 pairs with a chance of winning this,,

Not sure wether your residing in England or Australia Junior Fan but if its aussie i can tell you Rob is getting even better this season , him and Ben are at a very simular level, but complete opposites in riding styles..Ben is a good gater with a smooth quite style..Rob as you probably know is a do or die battler rides way out in the dirt and win or lose is always entertaining giving it everything,,.I think there is further improvement in both of them,,,The,have just won the 4s and must have a good chance in the pairs comp this month,Hope so....Of course if your living over here you will know all this already?

A good close match with some good performances from the kent reserves Danno Verge,, and young Thomas looks a real prospect ,,James Shanes. was solid and.Ben Morley guesting for Luke Bowen,,11 from 4 rides was only beaten in heat 13 by the fast starting great prospect that is Dan Bewley who had the advantage of the inside gate,,Off night for Danny Ayers still throws points away and needs to calm down a bit to be a better rider ,,however he was just back from injury,,Williamson also rode well for the visitors .But Payne looked a bit all over the place apart from one ride he won..Decent size crowd shows a team doing well ,despite injuries to several riders will still pull in the punters....
-
Charles Wright and PaulStark have made the grade at premier league level after a while in the national , where they were pretty decent riders ..but they are far outnumbered by those that have not, many dissapear all together..Danno Verge i chat reguarly too and has improved this season mainly by improving his fitness,,,saw him at Kent kings last night and he rode very well ,,wether he makes it to premier league level however remains to be seen i sincerly hope so.....

Rye House Vs Glasgow Pl Saturday 13/08/2016
waco replied to damosuzuki's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Rockets were fairly solid right through but unlike Glasgow no one stood out,,Great ride from Richard Lawson in heat 15 and good all night ,,,,and the reserves Lunna and Bewley were just sensational...There was some great racing on a track that is still crying out for more dirt to help the likes of Robson and Lykke and we need to do something to avoid these narrow defeats,,But no one could complain about the quality of the racing and its the new track shape thats providing it... -

Glasgow were very impressive down at Plymouth last night lets hope all the travelling takes the edge off them..Should be a highly competitive match tonight..Looking forward to it....Rob Branfords inclusion in the side proper now, should be a big boost for him ,,his recent good form, could really lift of now,,, -
Teaboy if you had our bottom end at Kent i do not think the fans there would be to happy either...I do not get slagged off every where as you suggest in fact i get a considerable number who like most of my post,s ,,My point here is that we are not snapping up some of the real prospects out there that are available ,like other clubs are,,And id have a bet with anyone that none of the current rye rookies will ever make the Rockets team....Your entitled to your opinion of me and i do not mind,,But i have not been involved in speedway, with riders,,sponsership,. and track maintainence for over 60 yrs with out being able to see the difference between a real prospect ,,or someone unlikely to make the grade....
-
Rob Branford has really upped his game in the last month or two and fully deserves his elevation in to the Rockets team proper with the resignation of Peter Karger..Good luck to him and the rest of the lads for the remaining couple of months of the season....
-
5 points from Raiders bottom four some gifted says it all really.Realistickly we have no chance home or away. There are better rookies out there Mildenhall snapped one up last week..15year old Jordan Jenkins
-
40,,,,Bit optimistic
-
I think Belle view may miss the lightning gating Dan Bewley But they only have a three man team to beat, It could be decided by how many gift points Raiders bottom four can pick up..

Rockets V Somerset Sun 31st July 4pm Double Header
waco replied to waco's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
It must be pretty obvious that the fans do not like drawn out double headers a total drag .so many weekends with no racing is also is very unpopular, and loses fans sometimes for ever,,,But does anyone ever take any notice of what the fans want ??,,,And constant delays during meetings including unwanted intervals. at some tracks are turning fans away in their hundreds,,a major cause of why our beloved sport is slowly dying on its backside....................... -
