  1. No you misunderstand. The principle of laying down a bike becomes second nature to riders (not all, although it should) and it really isn't a big deal to drop a bike in an incident where you know you aren't going to get any points because a rider has nudged you off line. It's a split second decision, do you keep it upright, knowing you'll probably be last or drop it hoping for a second chance? It does happen.
  2. "Boyce will confirm his starting five after the practice session on Thursday afternoon and it is rumoured Poole skipper Davey Watt is in contention to race." I imagine other teams are doing the same.
  3. Have you ever been to Tesco (other supermarkets are available), come home and said, "Tesco was packed!" It wasn't was it. Or bought something from a motorway services and said, "It's daylight robbery!" It isn't is it. Or watched your favourite rider score a maximum and said, "He's on fire!" I bet he wasn't. Maybe the commentators should have said, "Good crowd here this evening, it's 71.42% full, no question."
  4. But they do. In principle, it's no different laying the bike down to get a re-run than laying the bike down to avoid a rider. It happens.
  5. I knew eventually Shovlar would say something worthwhile.
  6. You are correct, just as stunt men can fall off a bike without injuring themselves, riders know when it is relatively safe to drop the bike and yes, in some countries riders are taught to lay the bike down, something that should be done here. You would never see a rider go headlong into the fence (ie, straight on) to get a re-run because that would be crazy but it's pretty easy to lay a bike down without causing too much damage once you learn how and it becomes second nature, or at least it should. It's a case of learning how to fall. One thing riders learn very quickly is if you're going to crash hard, don't hold onto the bike. Also the more you tense, the more likely you are to break something, but it's not always easy to relax when you're traveling in the air at 60mph!
  7. Yet he still keeps going year in, year out apparently. It must be hell for him.
  8. I'm guessing you mean Nicholls crash? That was an awkward one because the bike didn't really lift, which is easier to control, but dragged him out and it's so difficult to get out of it when it drags you like that because it pulls your arms and you can't knock the throttle off so easily. I don't think the track can be blamed for it, it's just unfortunate.
  9. So given that Nicholls is unavailable and Richardson isn't interested, who would you put in the race off instead of Bridger? And don't say it's not your job. Back up your criticisms.
  10. Don't write them off just yet. I don't think the Swedes and Aussies are going to outclass GB. The Poles didn't exactly have it all their own way last night and they look stronger than Sweden and Oz to me.
