  1. Oh joy.. A whole 11 rounds of Bjarne Pedersen in the GPs.
  2. Thanks. Lindback Zagar Andersen I don't realistically see Andersen scraping through but would like to see him back in the GPs and have a decent crack at at least one season without injuries.
  3. They wouldn't be untrained if they all had training. And I did say they would not be behind the bikes as that would be dangerous. They simply move to the inner kerb. Often replays aren't available. A monitor would work but training start matshals (if that's even necessary) is far cheaper. We have amateurs timing races and handing out false track records so I don't see a problem with a start marshal calling a false start.
  4. The simplest and least expensive method would be to have all start marshals turn around and watch the tapes after lining riders up. If they don't go up evenly he puts his arm up to signal a false start. He needn't be behind the riders (facing the bikes as they shower shale isn't ideal) he can be on the kerb watching the tapes.
  5. Come on TNT we need an update please. manchesterpaul would have had it posted by the time the finalists shook hands, with that spreadsheet of his!
  6. Something was strange with Gollob last night. Not only did he look slow but his body language just wasn't Gollob at all. In one race he had the run on the inside down the home straight and looked to be a nose in front but as they leant across to enter the turn he just eased off. He never looked comfortable all night and for Harris to pass him with ease after almost stopping in his first race just compounds the mystery.
  7. because if there's no contact it's your own fault. A rider doesn't fall because of a gust of wind from another's bike. To unbalance a rider there has to be contact. Again it's basic physics.
  8. They weren't racing flat out for 4 laps either though. They were much slower entering the corners and mid corner. They are like trains now in comparison.
  9. The difference though, is they weren't going any where near as fast in those days so the moves weren't on the same scale in terms of endangering others. Emil will end someone's career unless he calms down. He's got bags of time, he just needs to take calculated risks and use his head a bit more.
  10. Correct. If equal number of wins then it goes to who has the most 2nds, etc.
  11. I've known riders to be thrown out of a meeting for it.
  12. Pedersen drops out of the top 8. Harris is having a decent night so far but is still 22 points off 8th place. Can't see him qualifying this year as most the riders above him are keeping on par with him. Hancock now 26 in front. He could miss a GP and still be ahead.
  13. Whats the matter with Gollob? He must be as baffled as everyone else.
  14. I'm almost certain Leigh Adams was on Godden in 1992 U-21 Final as was Wiggy in 1985 WLT Final. I have a video somewhere of the 1992 World U-21 final, if I can dig it out I'll have a look.
  15. 1981 Wembley 1985 Bradford 1990 Bradford Earliest 1995 if World Finals had continued. So they were already spreading out to 4, 5 and at least 5 years by the end.
  16. That's kind of diverting the question. Did every rider have a chance? Look at all the continental qualifiers over the years; Kuznetsov, Hack, Starostin, Ondrasik, to name just a few off the top of my head. They were nothing but fillers. Why do you say certain riders can't qualify for GP series now? Premier League riders have just as much chance to qualify now as they did back then. The reason they don't is they aren't good enough. Hans Nielsen failed to qualify for the 1992 World Final, so not all the best riders had the chance to be world champion in Wroclaw. Any half decent rider has a chance to qualify for GP series if they are good enough to get through.
  17. Sorry, but name a World Final where EVERYONE in the field had a realistic chance of being World Champion.
  18. I would agree with spook. The Grand Prix is a much more professionally run tight ship than British Speedway is currently.
  19. See the Scandinavian GP thread by Phil Rising.
