  1. He even walks back and makes them move forwards due to the ref telling him that someone has rolled away when his back was turned.. Would be a very simple addition to British Speedway, however, would they be happy to adopt something so successful from another country? After all, British Speedway is the best isn't it? What could it possibly learn from elsewhere?
  2. As always, some 'tasty matches'.. Got myself a 'firestick' for the season and have watched every match so far.. WOW! How Speedway truly could be is the over riding impression.. Can't do British Speedway much good I would think though with so many UK fans now having access to what's on offer in Poland.. Must confess, I haven't attended anywhere so far this year, but will be there at the SON on Saturday.. As an aside. It was interesting how many starting issues there were at Swindon the other night, yet in Poland there seems to be total compliance to the rules. With the Start Marshall even ensuring all are arrow straight with no rider allowed to be pointing at an angle.. Something to learn over here? Anyhow, many thanks R and R for all your updates, much appreciated..
  3. And maybe one of them is actually called Bradley and it was a spelling mistake.?
  4. Interesting to see yesterday that both Poole and Swindon's number one riders are both called Brady Kurtz... I wonder if there are any other examples of riders with the same name riding for two different teams... Quite amazing coincidence...
  5. Well said... Nice to see someone with some common sense.. You do have to laugh at some of the content on each teams threads by fans bemoaning why their team is 'poor'... Every year the SS does a bumper edition where you read absolute garbage from promoters of tracks saying things like "we have picked a team who can all increase their averages' or 'he has shown glimpses in the past of the level of rider we think he can be'... All absolute nonsense... Riders run similar averages year in year out because, guess what? That is their level... Several will be four and five point men the whole of their careers.. Always were, are now, and always will be... To expect them to do any better is folly, especially as they ride against pretty much the same riders every season who are doing exactly the same thing to their averages (ie pretty much standing still).. If you have ridden for five years or so then usually that is pretty much as good as you will get.. After ten years or so then there is usually a tipping point where you go backwards.. "Let's bring Woffy and Bartosz in"...
  6. It's an individual sport shoe horned into a team concept.. How many teams does Max ride for? Is it four? No surprise then if these lads don't follow any other scores than their own.. Given the level of pressure and focus by riding in Poland, where 'team racing' is done 'properly' and actually means something given its profile, then I dont think its too much of a surprise if when out of that environment, riders can relax more and just take meetings ride by ride, and then tot up their earnings when the meeting is over. .
  7. Certainly a great business decision to run all the tracks so close geographically.. Especially in a League of just seven... As it means at least two of them will, you would think, be there or there abouts for the play off places, even if all his teams are in fifth, sixth and seventh all season.. Which should maintain interest in the 'local derbies'.. And with the Aces as one of the seven teams, it looks like it could well be fourth, fifth and sixth...!.
  8. Sign Craig Cook.... Even if only temporary... Or let any of the six Swindon riders take all his rides up to a maximum of seven rides for any of them.. Eg Batchelor and Musielak could take two each and still ride Heat 15.. Thats what other sports would do... As would the same sport in Poland and Sweden..
  9. Pentel Pete has had a good night.. Still can mix it... And must bring a fair few quid sponsorship in with him too....
  10. If the other rider hadn't been there, Doyle would have had a very good potential run around the outside in the dirt given how wide the track is.. Zagar did what he needed to do by forcing him outwards on the first turns... As you say, just racing...
  11. Interesting to hear Thomsen say "you can go crazy and ride like that when the track is so good"... There are a good many tracks over here you couldn't go "crazy" on..
  12. Great ride from Vaculik... You just can't beat a round the boards last bend blast giving you victory by half a wheel on the line...
  13. Looks like a good few in Gorzow... Good race to start things... Nicki P!!! Could be very good this meeting, nice to see real rivalry at a Speedway meeting... Having away fans there always helps too...
  14. Chris Holder on fire!! Five out of Five... Not too shabby at this level... Lindgren, Madsen and Zagar all seen off..
  15. Correct.. Just seen it.... If the other rider hadn't been there, Doyle would have had plenty of space to ride out wide into the dirt like so many do.. Zagar led going into the bend and moved Doyle over.. Nothing wrong with that..
  16. Really? Wow.. What are the others getting then if BV are the best?
  17. Correct.. Sadly another one of those "let's make it up as we go along" 'rules' that means the Sport (in the UK) can never be taken seriously, and will continue to spin along in ever decreasing circles... For me, having Scott Nicholls riding is 100% OK as he is replacing an injured rider (just like in 'proper sports' where they would replace someone injured), but, as always in Speedway (UK Speedway), there will always be an inconsistency of applying the 'rules/subjective opinion' which renders most situations ludicrous when finally implemented.. 'They' truly never, ever learn...
  18. Some 'tough' racing.... Big prizes and rewards certainly hightens the competiveness I would suggest..
  19. Pretty much a spot on business plan I would suggest... Go with six man teams to reduce wage bills (and provide replacements without needing guests) and charge £15 in with all school and college kids 18 and under free,... And you would have a pretty good chance of getting some decent crowds (with the atmosphere that decent crowds bring), I reckon..
  20. Let's face it Phil, those who still attend regularly are pretty much immune to the contrived way the Sport in the UK runs its competitions, because if they weren't they too would no longer attend... Therefore if all you can provide is contrived competitions (and let's be honest there doesn't seem to be an awful lot of effort to stop doing it), then you might as well run them on the best nights to get a crowd in... The bottom line is winning any (team) Speedway title in the UK has no kudos, so it doesn't really matter who wins any of the meetings that make up these competitions.... So run these contrived meetings with teams as equal as possible, on Fridays or Saturday's for the Aces, Thursdays or Sunday's for Sheffield, Monday's for Wolves etc etc etc. (If that's what they want).. In short whenever ANY team can deliver the most customers.. Fans who still go (by definition of them being there regularly) will watch any ad hoc, for one night only, random septet cobbled together and pretend it's 'their team' so you might as well do it on nights most are free to do so... For me, the sport by using guest riders means any night won't see me at any track as I simply cannot justify paying to watch such nonsense in a sport that wants me to invest emotionally to a team concept, however I do accept that most fans who are still left no longer see that as any issue at all... Therefore if all the sport has is what is now on offer then so be it, but do it when you can bring in the most money... As I have previously mentioned, 600 extra punters, twenty times a season delivers an extra £200k.. Got to be worth a go surely given the potential prize on offer?
  21. As a starter for ten, I would suggest running on nights you feel you can deliver the most punters.... For Wolves, as an example, Monday might be their best night so carry on... For the Aces when we opened the average crowd in year one was circa 1800 riding on a Friday/Saturday.. Therefore, for them, run at Weekends... A basic principle of buisness is open when your customers want you to open.. Speedway, particularly as something in the entertainment sector, needs to open its doors when the punters want them to, not have an opening hours business plan based on when their employees can make it to work.. As that will never work for ANY business. . Because it can't..
  22. Very, very basic business practice..... If something is wrong, give some factual explanation as to why (don't for one moment use it as an excuse), and then apologise.. Maybe even make a gesture of goodwill if you see fit.... But don't ever do or say nothing.... As that makes it look like you either don't care or you are taking your punters for granted... And neither is a great way to be perceived in business..
  23. Running a shop in Mcr, 1 mile from the NSS. During school hols my trade pattern changes too.. When speaking with my customers (6000 of which are classed as having families thru our database), Fridays seem to be the big change over day at the caravan parks for the weekly holiday makers and those who own their own vans around North Wales, North West coast etc will often go away for long weekends on those ones they haven't hired out.. Therefore they shop with me earlier in the week more and come in on Mondays on their return.. Weekends actually see a drop in footfall during the school hols, unless it's cracking the flags outside! Bottom line for me though is a simple one... All motorsports run their offerings at weekend as they know it's the time they can get their best crowds.. Speedway has a 'better idea'...
