I've just looked on the Kings Lynn web site where you would think all the latest news about tonights match and Lewis's injury would be, and what do I get....nothing! There is news from Lewis on his Twitter feed, but come on Lynn what's the point of a web site that's not up to date on race day? I learn more from this Forum to be honest.

Its all very strange. He hadn't ridden for several years, decides to make a "comeback" spends lots of money on new bikes, goes through all the pre-season build up and practice, has a couple of matches where he did score some points then wants "time out" I must admit I was very sceptical when his name was announced in the team, but he seemed enthusiastic enough, so give the lad a chance I thought? However that didn't last long and I doubt he will ever be back in the Stars colours again and I suspect other promoters would also be very wary of signing him now. Shame really as on his day he could be an exciting rider to watch.

I'm not sure Ty had a "confidence boosting Championship meeting" at Berwick tonight, where he scored a miserable 2 points for his Leicester team? Ty Proctor - 0, 0, 1, 0, 1 = 2
-
With the Stars making two changes to the team already, I wonder if Ty Proctor is looking over his shoulder? With scores of 3 and 2 in the first couple of home matches, he at least managed 6 points at Ipswich, although that was from seven rides and included three last places. I hope for his sake Ty can up his game quickly otherwise I have the feeling he will be the next rider for the axe.

It looks as if some fans can't wait for the Pirates to race again. They have camped out early ready to get tickets. https://www.bournemouthecho.co.uk/news/19280683.travellers-set-unauthorised-encampment-poole-stadium-lorry-park/

Thanks Trackerman. I guess it should have read "inflatable fence" not "inflatable track" as it said on the BSPA statement, would have made more sense to me then! Great idea though, anything to get youngsters skidding round is good. I had visions of four bikes on a bouncy castle!!!
-
What's an "inflatable track" mentioned in John Campbell's statement on the BSPA web site? Not heard of that before.
-
Oh Yes, most Kings Lynn meetings and Mildenhall as well.

Excellent idea. I've always missed the traditional "second halves" and thought it was an opportunity missed to give youngsters some much needed track time. To put these juniors in to a proper organised race format is just the experience they need, and I'm sure fans will stay behind after the main event to give them encouragement, I certainly will.

With the Stars appearing to have 8.13 points to play with for their final rider, anybody heard any rumours or predictions for that final slot? Peterborough and Sheffield also have a place to fill, but the Stars have the most points to play with. Interesting!

Totally agree. I've been following the Stars since 1969 through thick and thin (mostly thin) at times going twice a week when the Starlets were also running, but for the last few years I have been increasingly bored with the racing, the rising costs and the perceived lack of value for money. Sometimes the meetings seem to drag on, with us supporters standing for ages on the terraces waiting for the action to start. The disease that is "gardening" seems to be getting worse at all tracks and even the GP's can't escape it. Sometimes on my long dark drives back to my home near Norwich, I think to myself "why did I bother tonight?" and yet I will often turn up the next week for a dose of the same mediocre fayre. Sadly what I've found out over the last year and the Covid lockdown, is that I really don't miss it that much, which I feel sad about as I've supported Speedway since I was 13 years old, starting at the Firs in Norwich in 1963. Will the sport, and Kings Lynn, rekindle my love of Speedway in 2021? I really don't know. I wonder how many fans in my age group feel the same, and are there enough younger fans to keep the sport alive after oldies like myself find the love has died. I applaude the effort to include "rising stars" in the teams, as that is one way to give younger riders a chance to progress and experience racing at a higher level, but I ask myself what is being done to encourage new fans, or even older fans like myself, to turn up each week and part with our money? The sport has come to many crossroads in its time, and against all odds has always managed to survive. However with all sports in crisis at the moment, I fear for the future of Speedway but hope that I am proved wrong.

In 2006 Olle and Ove Fundin, along with other riders and a support crew, rode thousands of miles across Asia on motorcycles. I think Olle was 76 at the time! Don't remember the exact details, but have vague memories of Olle having to return home after injury or sickness on the route? Maybe somebody else remembers more than me. This web site is all I could find, but it shows a few photos from the trip plus the incrdible route they took. It was in Swedish, but I did a Google translation. I found if I clicked on the word "translating" it opened the page. https://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl=en&sl=sv&u=https://www.swes.se/2006/07/trans-asia-expedition/&prev=search&pto=aue

Very sad news. My first experience of Speedway was 1963, as I lived within walking distance of the Firs stadium in Norwich. Olle was in the team along with my hero Ove Fundin, and they made a potent spearhead. I remember an incident in 1965 after the stadium had closed, when my brother and I heard speedway bikes in the distance from our front garden. Totally puzzled as to why we were hearing this from the stadium, we cycled over to the Firs, to find Olle along with some young Swedish riders, practicing on the track. I have no idea if he was supposed to be there, as I thought the stadium was locked up ready for demolition, but as I was only 15 I wasn't going to ask! We stayed until they had finished, then had a quick cycle round the track before heading for home. I would like to send all his family and friends my condolences, he will be missed. R.I.P. Olle.

He used to live in Springfield Road in Taverham before moving to Felixtowe many years ago.

In 2019 we had Cook AND Lambert, now we just have Cook, so I wonder where our spearhead is going to come from in Heats 13 & 15? With so many riders opting to not ride in the UK in 2021, the barrel is looking very empty at the moment.

Yes, looks like Peterborough to me. I wonder why they used a speedway clip in that scene? Many episodes of "Tales of the Unexpected" were filmed around the Norwich and Norfolk area, as it was an Anglia TV production. Living near Norwich I often see the City streets being used in episodes with some quite famous stars. In one episode, Telly Savalas (of Kojak fame) was walking through the famous "Marble Hall" of the Norwich Union Insurance building in Surrey St, and in another Richard Briers opened a coffee shop in Upper St Giles St then another in Tombland opposite Norwich Cathedral.

That would be some comeback at 77 !!!

We should be OK, Terry Betts and Tomas Topinka are now on standby.

I thought the saying was "As young as the woman you feel" Apologies to any young ladies reading this!
-
Spot on. I certainly fall in to one of those categories!
-
But I prefer plain chocolate on my digestives, so I'm going to boycott any decisions at the meeting!

After the "Holdergate" incident at Kings Lynn, when both Chris Holder and Troy Batchelor were sacked, I'd be very surprised if Batchelor was ever allowed back in Kings Lynn's colours again. I suspect Buster, like most fans won't forgive that easily?
