  1. Taken from British Speedway website: The club have also confirmed David Wallinger has joined their National Trophy line-up, as initial plans to include Leon Flint are not possible under the regulations. Wallinger joins Josh Embleton and Archie Freeman as announced starters for the Gems. And this from the Diamonds website: Firstly, Newcastle Speedway are very disappointed that Leon Flint will not be able to line up for them in the National Trophy this season after a decision by the BSPA means that the youngster couldn’t line up for Newcastle in that competition and also ride for another club in the National League itself. Any thoughts?
  2. Perhaps the four clubs agreed a swop, and I can understand the geographical logic if that was the reason, but still very odd / wrong that no public announcement was made and an official draw was amended after it had been made.
  3. Now Campos is confirmed for 2020. Two places to fill and 10.46 left. Connor King deserves another season so that would leave about 6.5 for 1 more. Expect that will be Danno Verge so it would be bye bye to Chris Widman.
  4. Warriors website says Connor Coles is their first signing for 2020.
  5. So does this mean Danny Ayres will miss out on a NL slot anywhere in 2020?
  6. Given that they ran at a loss last year, riders wage demands may hold the key to who and who doesn’t get a team spot.
  7. Congratulations Warriors. BSPA ‘Most Improved Club 2019’ in the National League and also the WRSA Community Club of the year again. Best wishes for a positive outcome at Tuesday’s AGM.
  8. Championship application rejected at BSPA AGM. No clear reason at this stage. Guess that means another season in the NL.
  9. Anyone know anything about Wright and Mudgway being fined for comments made over the PA?
  10. According to Andrew Moon (Twitter) of Radio Solent, Pirates applying for the Championship in 2020.
  11. Will either side have to change their riding order as we are now into October and I guess new averages will be in place?
  12. So as the end of the season approaches, are we bidding farewell to the NL? With Stoke departed, Plymouth looking to move up and rumours that Cradley, Leicester Cubs and Belle Vue Colts are ‘doubtful’ for 2020, what happens if those scenarios actually play out. Obviously a 3 team league is impractical. Perhaps Rye House and Buxton and others could return but what is the realistic future for Kent, Mildenhall and IOW? May be Kent and Mildenhall could be induced in to a step up but I would fear for the Island’s ability to finance higher costs without a big increase in attendances or significant additional sponsorship. I Wish I had some answers.
  13. OK let’s get this going. Assuming weather doesn’t create problems I’ll go for a Somerset win on Wednesday by six with Tigers going through on aggregate on Friday. Don’t think tactical substitute can be used at this stage as it’s a two legged tie.
  14. Rumour doing the rounds here in Cambridgeshire this morning is that Porsing and KL have had some kind of falling out and he won’t be riding tomorrow.
  15. That sort of spikey remark is inappropriate. Wirtzfeld is a 16 year old who has done a full season with the Isle of Wight in the National League and has improved as the season has gone on. I would guess he is in the Southern League second half and was an easy option for Lynn. He will be out of his depth tonight but will use it as a learning experience and you Mr Wolfie should note his name as a rider with potential for the future.
  16. Just seen this event is taking place next Saturday. The text on Facebook reads ‘Come and celebrate 90 years of Exeter Falcons with your favourite Falcons rider past and Present. Tickets are £10 and can be purchased from the Royal Oak, Plymouth Gladiators track shop or any Exeter Falcons Development League meeting. The day/evening will include an auction of speedway memorabilia, private speedway collectors displays, buffet, disco, interviews and much more.’ The attached flyer should also help. Hope this is well supported and everyone has a great day.
  17. Got called down to a job near Minehead so went to this meeting after work. Some cracking speedway at the business end of the meeting although Sheffield hit the self destruct button with needless tape infringements and a Sedgmen elf on the line. Good value. Anyone know who the centre green bloke is. Like his style.
  18. Is Mildenhall the most dangerous track in the country? I might be wrong but there always seems to be a high number of incidents, fallers and withdrawals. Happened again today. Given that refs complete a match summary and have the benefit of the Incident Recorders report, I wonder if the SCB / BSPA use this information? I’m sure the sports insurers would be interested. On second thoughts maybe keep it in house, you never know what damage it could do.
  19. Think Cleggs average far too high. Time for the Warriors to do a bit of creative accounting of there own to match that of the visiting team.
  20. Just read the Mildenhall press release. Very convenient that Brooks who was scored 1 gifted point from four rides for Oxford last week is now AWOL / unavailable and his replacement Nathan Stoneman is an Island specialist. I know it is a legal move but strikes me as fishy, especially as he can get to Plymouth the next night. Also note that the press release says Mildenhall have ‘bought in’ Stoneman for the IOW meet. Unfortunate typo.
  21. Last weekend at Stoke I got told the Colts were considering Jack Smith and Danny Verge with cover for Bailey to be sorted . May have changed by now. Who knows.
  22. Is it my imagination or do Gdańsk get more than there fair share of the ‘big’ meetings. Perhaps it’s because I’ve been there and didn’t enjoy it that much so wonder why it attracts important events.
