  1. I wonder if Glasgow tried to get Erik Riss to guest for them?
  2. If that's true, seems a strange decision to give him the r/r outing in heat 1? While riders shouldn't dictate to managers when they'll go out, if he'll be stronger in the second half of the meeting, use him more then?
  3. It seems once a rider gets his foot in the Prem door, he's on the mind of many teams. Hume picked by Sheffield, guested then signed by Birmingham, guested for Ipswich. Compare that to Connor Mountain, who has a higher Champ ave, but seemingly gets completely ignored by Prem sides!
  4. Missing a RS 99% of the time makes a team stronger, so having to use the other reserve off 15m just evens things up, not a "further punishment" imo
  5. I'm a massive fan of the RS system, would be happy for it to be in the Champ as well as the Prem, but not instead of. All sounds like force feeding these youngsters into the PL whether they want to or not. The riders clearly want to be in the Prem otherwise they wouldn't be on the RS list! The good ones would have probably got their chances anyhow. Possibly, but not always, as the points limit can always leave good promising young Brits without a team. Look at Dan Thompson, no Champ team wanted him at the start of 2023. Connor Bailey didn't have a Champ team the year he was U21 Champ I believe, then someone got injured & he got a place, but wasn't a first pick. If the rising stars all had 1 point averages because they only beat each other in heats 2 & 8, then I'd agree it hasn't worked. But there will always be reserves who struggle, that's not the RS system that's caused it, look at Zischke & Gusts for example?
  6. It won't drop soon. The earliest it can drop is July 1st.
  7. The downside of just racing for Workington is going weeks without matches.
  8. That ruling has been used a few times, most notibly with Covatti at Plymouth, they were allowed a 28 day facility when he got injured before his first match. I can't remember other examples of the top of my head, but feel it's happened often enough to believe it's a consistent ruling not a special dispensation for Woffinden / Sheffield.
  9. That's why I'm looking for answers from others, because I can't understand it lol!
  10. I understand that, but why wouldn't the club address the fact a rider didn't take his 3rd race (with no replacement)?
  11. It would be a shame to see Birmingham struggle (more than they already are) but they shouldn't "invent" rules mid-season to keep them competitive, when year after year they pick awful teams. If the league knew teams would struggle, then should have made a lower limit, allowing Oxford & Birmingham to be more competitive, rather than "gifting" them an underserved facility. However Birmingham were only given a 75% facility for Zagar & effectively replaced him with Hume till he returned. So if Brummies riding under strength then wasn't a threat to them finishing the season, why would it be now? Edit: I've just realised I'm looking for logic & consistency in decisions made by the BSPL. That probably answers my question lol!
  12. If that's the case facility shouldn't be extended.
  13. I see Birmingham's facility for MJJ has been extended. I have to admit what's the point of giving a 14 day facility then extending it, why not give a 28 day facility to start with. If there is a reason for the 14 day facility, that's fine - just don't extend it then!
  14. Problem is it's tough to recognise sarcasm etc when written down. Banter is confusing if there's not a smiley face 🤭
  15. Sounds a bit on an arrogant comment, no rider should risk injury for any team, but why should Cairns play it safe for Belle Vue when he's not even riding for Poole yet?
  16. Ignoring any pressure put on young riders, if there is any, these riders also need to be sensible about how long to stay in the NL/NT or when to move up to Champ / Prem. Would Boughen have faired better of he stayed in the NL for another season & didn't become a RS as a 16 year old? Honed his skills more at a power level? I'm a bit surprised so many seem to think Cairns will be Belle Vue's RS as soon as he reaches 16, yes he's a very promising rider, but surely not better than Mulford just yet? Even pre-season most weren't saying, Cairns may get a chance if Mulford doesn't improve, more like Cairns will get the RS spot on his birthday.
  17. A couple of thoughts from Cami Brown's match report on Tigers FB page “I knew it would be tough tonight. Victor Palovaara at reserve is ridiculous, let’s be honest. He’s not a reserve, he’s miles better than that." Firstly why is Palovaara at reserve rediculous? Edinburgh were clever enough to build a team where he started at reserve. Remember when Glasgow signed Tarasenko on a 5.00 Champ ave, despite him also being on a 5.00 Prem ave which was about to go up to 6.45 (meaning a converted 9.5+ Champ ave) did Cami say that was ridiculous at the time? Glasgow just used the rules, which were available to all the clubs, just like Edinburgh have done this year. Secondly, no mention of Boughen not competing 3 rides. If he was ill, you'd think Glasgow would announce they are putting in a complaint that he wasn't signed off, not allowing a reserve to come in. If he just didn't fancy it, should Glasgow not say they are dissapointed with what happened & are dealing with it behind closed doors? Do Glasgow not owe it to their fans who paid to watch / for the stream for some honesty about the situation?
  18. Surely that's the clubs fault then? If they pay riders high amounts regardless of their scores, clubs can only blame themselves imo
  19. Boughen didn't ride NDL last year, so would be on his converted Champ ave. I'd day there's zero chance they would reassess a rider unless he's been away from Speedway for years. Ideally he should've had a NDL & Champ season in 2024, with a view of a RS spot in 2025. To me he took a risk turning his back on Oxford to go to Glasgow, like Poole they are a club who are ruthless when they want to improve the team. Not saying that's a bad thing, but other clubs who are perhaps not so used to winning will give riders more time.
  20. I mean Boughen would have a 10.54 NL average, can't see how clubs would fit him in, especially with the points limit being 38. But as his average is above 4, don't think he could double up anyway (still has a team spot with Lynn)?
  21. Average is too high, will never happen. Perhaps he moved up too soon. Leaving the NL behind & going to the Prem as a RS when he was 16 I believe. Kinda hope Cairns doesn't follow suit & takes his time to move up the leagues, take a sensible approach like Luke Harrison does.
  22. Of course there's no shame, they want to win the league. Just like there was no shame when Belle Vue dropped a Brit for an Aussie last year, or Glasgow dropped a Brit for a Slovenian or when Plymouth dropped a Brit for a Dane, I could go on!
  23. Feel Glasgow will be the happier of the two sides. Monarchs had a chance to put one foot in the next round, but dropped too many points to Tigers reserves especially. Also don't understand how Castagna can do so well in a harder league, but not replicate that in the Champ?
  24. For your first point, I think most teams use r/r at 2 out of habit rather than planning, I'd totally agree with it if it was a second string missing not the second best rider. Anyway we'll have to agree to disagree on this one, not really a situation where someone can say I told you so. If Sayfutdinov wins heat 8 for me that doesn't prove it worked, as others may have won that heat too lol!
