  1. Can't imagine that would have anything to do with it. Otherwise they'd be better off saying every point counts as Zmarzlik always pulls it off in the semi finals, but can drop points in the heats (which no longer matters once he's made the final). If they really wanted him not to run away with it, they'd have given stronger wildcards places.
  2. Still not a fan of the scoring system. Fricke finishes joint first, but because of a slower race time, drops to the LCQ, one bad race & finishes 9th! I'm pretty sure this is the first time in GP history, the top scorer has gone home with just 8 GP points (from a full meeting). Why are race times all of a sudden so important to the FIM? Surely a race win, is a race win, regardless of how fast a rider goes? Then there's the situation, riders in the first races normally set the best times. Also with so many crashes happening, for a safety point of view think the organisers should be trying to slow things down, not the opposite. Riders will always want to go faster, that can't be stopped, but does it have to be encouraged?
  3. I don't think it helps him stay in employment though. There's zero chance Lawson won't get a heat leader berth, wether his average is 8.8, 9.0, 9.2, 9.4 etc. What it does do is allows the team that signs him to be stronger than they otherwise may have been. Although this year, Poole built a team 0.96 under the points limit, so Lawson's dropped points were probably unnecessary.
  4. With Ben Cook making a comeback in Poland, there should be no need for Kildemand to guest right?
  5. Even if the team has potential, if there's room to improve, why not take it? The likes of Poole or Glasgow, always look to improve their team wether they are being successful or not, Redcar this season too. If there's a chance to make a signing that changes the team into a play-off chasing one (that doesn't bankrupt the club) gotta go for it. Being out of the BSN & KOC, the play-offs is their only chance to avoid another early finish to the season.
  6. Agreed, can't blame Schroeck's tactics today. Team just isn't strong enough, we all know that anyway, but racing another team that everyone thinks "isn't strong enough" and losing by 14 points at home is pitiful!
  7. If the Prem lost too many clubs & dissolved leading to "one medium league" (can no longer be called one big league) there would have to be lots of changes. Clubs couldn't stick to Mondays & Thursdays, so the remaining GP riders would probably desert, likewise top riders racing in Poland on the weekends. With more spaces to fill at "Champ level" and less top riders willing to race in GB, would that lead to a "weak championship / strong National league" level of competition? Would Poole fans support that level of racing as previously they didn't support NL racing & the promotion isn't willing to try risking it again? At that stage would Poole lose more money in a "weak Champ / strong NL" than they would stepping up to keep the Prem alive?
  8. Given that Pijper has a higher 2025 average than Spencer, I'd say no.
  9. But if you stop riders like Jenkins being a "rising star" it makes the list of options even weaker, while many say it's too big a step? If that's the case all 7 "rising stars" should be Jenkins, Edwards, Flint standard etc.
  10. Why would you overlook a stronger rider just because you run a NL/NT team? If every club chose replacements from their development team only, then clubs that don't run a development team, would be at an advantage, being able to pick from any NL/NT team for a replacement. By that logic every Prem team losing a RS would be signing a NL/NT rider as a replacement, while Ipswich could go for Gilkes or Hagon because they don't have a NL/NT team to recruit from. Also the NL/NT is miles away from the Prem, even at RS level. It's better riders move up when they are ready & not before. If one of the top NL/NT riders Max James, steps down from Edinburgh because it's too tough for him, surely you wouldn't put him in a RS spot just because he rides for Birmingham's second team?
  11. Seems a pointless rule if Harrison can be signed in place of Boughen, why can't he guest for Boughen? I don't really understand why Lynn are doing it this way, Harrison is currently stronger than Scott, why not give him the RS spot full time?
  12. It's amazing, a couple of weeks ago, it seems a majority of fans were calling for changes, saying the team wasn't good enough, Cairns alone won't turn them into challengers. Then all of a sudden 2 good results & they're the team to beat! Speedway fans can be a fickle bunch lol!
  13. I think Joe T deserves more credit for his performance than he's getting (from some), he only lost to Kerr (x2) Cook & Lawson. Defeated Rowe, Starke, Thomsen & Ritchings. Only lost to Poole's top 4, defeated the bottom 3, plus Rowe. A good showing from Redcar's guest.
  14. No one should need to volunteer, the team manager should pick who he wants to use surely?
  15. Good point. As long as the guest is better than Jake Mulford, makes sense to use a guest. If they were looking at a 4.00 rider due to unavailability, then I'd go the r/r option.
  16. Until the play-offs start there is no issue with 20 points away defeats. Fans don't like them, but it won't stop them becoming Champions. The big question is, can they do better when the league is on the line or can they continue to score 60+ at home?
  17. I thought there was a rule that if you drop a rider they can only come back in at management committee discretion? Of course the management committee may have no issue with Lynn's plans!
  18. Hasn't Luke Harrison signed for Lynn, why would Jody Scott be at reserve?
  19. Lewis Kerr has averaged 5.71 (6.29) in his 7 matches for Sheffield this year. That is higher than his starting average. Just because he's had a poor away match, doesn't mean he should get dropped imo
  20. I'd leave r/r at 3, Riss at 4, King at 5, Riss takes a r/r outing in heat 12. Meetings will end up with: Ht 12 Riss Ht 13 Wright & King Ht 14 Riss Ht 15 Wright / King / Riss
  21. Whoever guests, may not be as good as Edwards, they just have to pick who they think is the best available. Like someone else suggested, r/r could work at home, but less successful away.
  22. If Edwards isn't fit, how about Mitchell McDiarmid as a guest? Rode well for Oxford at Poole!
  23. Even if the new signing decides he is Australian & not British, Edinburgh are still doing more for British riders development than any club who didn't enter the NL/NT. Plus last year they held a NDL series individual when they didn't have to.
  24. With Masters at 5, racing in heat 13 may help keep his average below Becker's?
  25. Whoever finishes 8th in the GPs is going to be an incredibly good rider, just because someone doesn't finish in the top 7, doesn't mean they shouldn't bother entering. There are more than 7 world class riders in the series, so there will always be brilliant riders who don't finish in the seeded spot for 2026 and that's before you even consider injuries. Why is trying to get another way in unfair? If GP riders & non GP riders enter the qualifiers to ensure the best make next year's series, what's unfair about that? If non GP riders can't get into the GPs because they lose to GP riders in the qualifiers, then that means they're not good enough for the gaps right? For clubs like Sheffield who want to sign international superstars, it comes with the knowledge they may miss meetings when racing elsewhere, not great for fans of British Speedway, but that's just the way it is now.
