Cairns would be at reserve in that team, has a lower average than Boughen, who would be an unlikely signing.
-
Are there enough U19s of sufficient quality to ride in the Prem next season? Think it'd be better if it was U24 in Prem, U19 in Champ.
-
A 36 point limit for a top 5 is a strong league. 2025 top fives Belle Vue 36.77 Birmingham 27.75 Ipswich 36.04 King's Lynn 33.78 Leicester 37.30 Oxford 30.60 Sheffield 36.31 If there are 2 "rising stars" keep them at reserve all year & use the old "fast track" format.
-
just expecting Jack Holder to stay, with Picko doesn't leave a lot of room elsewhere. If Jack doesn't return, then I'd have Pickering.
-
If he rides like he did last time in the Prem, then would be a great signing. Maybe you're convincing me it would be a good move
-
I've had a try at a 36.00 limit Jack Holder - 9.08 Chris Holder - 6.84 Charles Wright - 6.11 Nick Morris - 5.89 Leon Flint - 5.06 Jye Etheridge - 3.00 Luke Harrison - RS Total - 35.98
-
Nicholls would be on a Champ converted ave now (5.25). Based on his last Prem matches, that's great value. But for next year I'm not so sure. Another couple of years older, plus an injury affected season.
-
I was picking a team to keep Flint at reserve under the current rules. If the limit is lowered I agree he wouldn't be at reserve.
-
I'm talking about the team I posted top, wasn't a struggle at all. Until the AGM I mainly build potential teams using the current rules. I've read people talk about a 36 point limit, I've read others say that's rubbish. It's all guesswork until something official is announced.
-
He's at reserve in the potential team I posted
-
Nothing against Pickering, just wanting Flint to start at reserve for strength in depth.
-
If my sums are correct exactly on the (current) 40 limit Jack Holder - 9.08 Chris Holder - 6.84 Tobiasz Musielak - 6.63 Danny King - 6.50 Nick Morris - 5.89 Leon Flint - 5.06 Luke Harrison - RS Total - 40.00
-
How about? Max Fricke - 9.89 Sam Masters - 7.28 Adam Ellis - 5.92 Nick Morris - 5.89 Dan Thompson - 5.87 Kyle Howarth - 5.00 Luke Killeen - RS Total - 39.85

While at first glance it's lacking back up to Pickering, there are quite a few riders who will go well at home. Even winning all their home matches will be an improvement on recent seasons. Of course it'll be quite hard to build a potent looking team with Picko taking up so much of the points limit.
-
That's more than good enough for a 2ish rider, Berwick should defo try for him imo
-
That looks to be an absolutely fantastic team
-
Just to be really picky does he actually say he's not riding in Britain next year?
-
I don't think I'd go for Jack Smith, previously defended him as I thought he had a few years barely getting a chance, but after a season at number 7 with his average dropping below 3.00, I'd look elsewhere for a reserve.
-
Even if Scunthorpe were thinking they'd be able to make a change once Pickering gets a new average, it may not all be plain sailing. I believe if a rider finishes the season with a club, but doesn't start the next one, he can't be brought back it without management committee approval i.e Lambert. If they thought Scunthorpe had tried to pull a fast one with the averages (even if it's legal) they may not approve. Secondly what if the first match got postponed, then they didn't race till after 23rd of April, would mean Pickering wouldn't get a new average till 1st June. Then the team averages may have gone up, not allowing as many points available to strengthen up, would a rider be willing to dot out the start of the season & risk their team spot no longer being there?
-
I'd argue that's what the development league is for "bringing youngsters on". Besides if they ride better than "has-beens" they won't get dropped.
-
depends who he is, if they signed a Cairns or Rushen certainly wouldn't drop him, but if it was a sub 2.00 rider like Spencer this year or Perry at Poole last year of course they're gonna wanna strengthen up.
-
If you treat it like signing Lambert on a 2.00 ave instead of a 4.5(ish) ave, it's a no brainer imo
-
those are the rules used for Riss at Redcar this season
-
While Pickering's average will be 11.46 - 11.64, as soon as he races ONE match, he'll revert to his Champ rolling ave from the 2024 season (9.21). So if Scunthorpe planned their first BSN / league match to take place before 23rd April, they'd be dropping over 2 points from their limit in time for May. Could sign a temp 2 pointer, then replace him with a 4 pointer for the first set of averages?
-
Great signing for Scunthorpe & gives them a brilliant number one. Might be hard to build a strong team using up over 1/4 of the points limit on one rider. But if I was a Scunthorpe fan that wouldn't bother me, I'd just be happy to see Picko flying around the track each match.
