  1. Has to be initial declarations only. Imagine signing a 7 pointer who upped his average to 11, but you could only replace him with someone under 8 because you have another 8 pointer, now that would be ludicrous. But when it's Speedway, you never know!
  2. It's not so much wether Kyle impeded a Sheffield rider, more that if every rider KNEW every race was awarded on the 4th lap, then it would encourage riders to lay the bike down or after a genuine fall, stay down too long, till the red lights came on. I'm not saying Howarth did this, but when it's a case of to re-run or award, I would always give the benefit of the doubt to the team that didn't cause the stoppage.
  3. I agree with the suggestion some clubs postpone matches far too early, but Ipswich themselves postponed a match when fans were in the stadium. The ideal situation, is somewhere in the middle of these scenarios.
  4. As it was a Leicester rider who caused the stoppage I think it's fair to have a re-run. If it was a Sheffield rider who fell when Kemp was winning, then yes Leicester could feel hard done by.
  5. The rising star has to ride at 7 unless he's in the top 5, Scott can't race at 6. Ideally you'd want Rushen & Scott to remain at reserve, but the way Rushen is scoring, he'd always end up in the top 5 even if Castagna was doing his job. With such improvement at reserve, it's a surprise the team isn't doing better.
  6. Because he's been very disappointing this season, albeit better tonight.
  7. I do think that is one of the worst roles out there (not being able to guest of not in a team). You'd think it would be encouraged rather than against the rules?
  8. I don't understand the Kennett signing but Jenkins would've made even less sense given his form for Redcar. Other options from the Champ would've been Jake Allen, Michael Palm Toft, Mitchell McDiarmid, Jonatan Grahn, Kevin Juul Pedersen or Connor Mountain?
  9. Really they only got one reserve who was gonna add 4 points to his average, as Cairns started near 4.00 not 2.00 like Rushen, unless you thought Cairns was an 8 pointer pre-season? Can't believe anyone thinks Zach Cook is "too good for the Champ" not even got an 8 point average. But yes, there is lots to admire about his they have built this team, hard to see anyone challenging them over 2 legs for trophies.
  10. I don't think the fans wanted to lose either rider. I always thought Dan T was a great signing for Edinburgh, but Harris was too popular for Glasgow to drop.
  11. Seems a sensible decision by Kemp. Dropped the Champ to try & make it abroad, I'll give credit to any rider brave enough to do that. But if his calendar is quiet, he can pick up guest bookings.
  12. Lambert's average at reserve 4.71 (5.18) vs Jenkins average as a second string 3.27 (4.36). Even if Lambert drops a point from moving up to second string, still strengthens the team. If Lambert was replacing Wright, I'd agree "awful signing" but he's replacing a struggling second string.
  13. No surprise as Jenkins has been struggling, would be a risk waiting to see if he picks up form, if he doesn't then he's on a far lower average to find a replacement. If Jenkins was dropping to reserve for June, maybe I'd have waited to see if he improves. If they replaced him before the average changes & have a 5+ point new signing, keeps the reserve pairing looking strong.
  14. Cluff has improved as the season has gone on, think Cowley would suit him more than Armadale? Though he did far better last time at home. Of course it's harder to score points at number 6 than number 7 (unless there's reserve changes) so Cluff could ride better, but Loftus score more.
  15. Even if Kyle was suspended, which I'm almost certain he won't be, Glasgow wouldn't have to use a 75% guest.
  16. Such a shame, looked very promising last year, easy to say with hindsight but shouldn't have moved up to the Champ so early in his career. But then a rider like Ingram after one NDL season with a sub 6.00 ave is having no difficulty.
  17. Totally agree with this take. I can't think of an obvious rider to drop (including Lambert) they were all riding close to their averages, but the team was 2 points weaker than all the others. For all the stick MPT gets, what do fans expect putting a 6 point rider at number 5? Mountain maybe the biggest underachiever, plus Harrison away from home, but they've all had good & poor matches, so hope is there they can turn it around? Now Ingram is flying, especially at home, they're kinda back on a par with most teams (built to the limit) Ingrams improvement cancelling out Pickering's average drop. Had they managed to find a heat leader to replace a second string, they'd look a decent bet for a play-offs spot.
  18. I very much enjoyed that season, but it's not quite how you remember it. Every club didn't have an out & out number one, as the Previous Div 1 sides wouldn't share them out, same still happens now. Back then there would be enough number ones for 15 clubs, now we don't enough for the 6 Prem teams. Plus not enough riders to go around. If it ever happened, there would be more guests available, but don't see how it can. For now, who could Belle Vue bring in place of Bewley? Any top riders willing to ride in GB & affordable, would likely already be here.
  19. I'm pretty sure the 8 point rule was for initial declarations, so any team should be able to sign a second 8 pointer now, if there's anyone available that is?
  20. It does seem odd signing Pickering, knowing his average will drop & leave them under the limit, but the only change was to bring in a like-for-like change.
  21. Tbh, I think 8 Champ clubs could say the same thing, can't see past Poole for the treble! Can't see what change any team could make to challenge them. But changes could be sought to reach the play-offs?
  22. Did they really? I thought the majority wanted to keep Newman. Most of the ones who wanted Gilkes back, seemed to suggest doing it because of morals, rather than Gilkes being stronger? I suppose on Gilkes FB Poole were getting flak, but that's not really unbiased opinions.
  23. While I wish Bowes well in his recovery, this doesn't hinder Poole at all. For the rest of this month Cairns & Rushen at reserve, plus Kerr & Newman can take r/r outings. When Rushen gets a new average, Cairns & Newman at reserve, Rushen can take a r/r outing. Bowes won't drop to reserve till July at the earliest. Besides if Poole can win at Redcar without Rushen, who can challenge them at all?
  24. Really? They stopped giving wildcards to riders because of their nationality ahead of their ability, looks the strongest field since the Russians were banned to me. Not sure why people are saying it's virtually over after one round, Zmarzlik will always be favourite, but it's not like he's miles in front, he's not even leading the series yet.
  25. Not sure if agree with that because 1) what of no ex-riders want to become referees & 2) when I see an ex-rider on commentary they often excuse falls & blame the track, rather than the opponent, I feel this could lead to multiple all four re-runs because they side with both riders? I'm not sure the answer to poor refereeing, even with video footage, you often see bizarre decisions made.
