  1. That's the spirit, ruin it for the rest of us, fool.
  2. Bound to happen eventually but the delay for that length of time was ridiculous, robbing the punters again.
  3. Rain stopped, track graded and doesn't look very greasy, get on with it ffs!
  4. Thought that might bring you online, you're correct of course, on both points, so many apologies. Thought the presentation was very good last night, yourself and Adam seem to get along ok and he offers up some good info from a riders perspective. Keep up the good work BSN. I also enjoy the podcast btw, good mix of info, interviews, reports & up-coming fixtures. Harleys
  5. I was a walk up after that and there seemed a few others doing similar. First time I've been for years, enjoyed the racing, correct result based on performances, I doubt Dan Bewley will deliver a return like that again, so things not looking too bad for the Aces. Will definitely go again, must remember to wrap up better next time though, cracking view from the Grandstand seats but I should've gone on the back straight, easier to keep warm when stood.
  6. Scratch that last post, it's OFF. https://twitter.com/TheAces/status/1637828491776327681?cxt=HHwWgoC89b2V3rotAAAA
  7. https://twitter.com/TheAces/status/1637816270858096646/photo/1 " There's only 5hrs hours to go before the bikes roar into life to kick off the British Speedway season, and what a season opener it will be! Let's remind ourselves how the draw is looking... we're definitely in for some tasty races, who are you rooting for? " Posted at 14.00, still on as far as they are concerned. I'm 15miles away to the west and light rain was forecast to start here about an hour ago, no sign of it yet, cloudy but certainly not heavy, the highest likelihood of rain is forecast for 19.00 onwards but still only light rain. As always it's pot luck but I'll be having a rare trip over unless things change considerably. Hope this helps anyone thinking of chancing the trip, no comebacks allowed though.
  8. Unsure, would have to revisit, which I will when I get chance, to establish who it is, not that I would recognise his voice, hopefully an introduction at the start will help.
  9. Yes he did, right handlebar, also Mich was on Bernie Leigh's bike, not one known for speed round Hyde Rd Bernie irrc but Mich had it working like a dream in that race. The other day I came across an audio commentary of the meeting on cd, no idea where I got it but I did have a quick listen and then fast forwarded to 'that race', great to hear.
  10. Great post, enough description to create a picture in the minds eye of that race, the noise, smell, crowd noise, brilliant. I was fortunate enough to see the run-off between PC & Michanek in the 73 cup final, said by those present to be the best race they had ever seen. I can still take myself back to that night and recall the excitement.
  11. Or just accept it for what it is, a heartfelt apology.
  12. Wow, you have some memory for many things you bring up in different threads, I salute you Sir. https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/6630910.channel-6-taken-off-air/
  13. In Gorton mate, not happening, the bike would be gone at the first set of traffic lights on red.
  14. I was at that meeting, can remember Wilkie doing just that, the Lynn fans in the stand were all jeering him but he'd made his mind up about having his say, as you say, typical Wilkie. I think it was a bank holiday lunch time meeting with a return at Hyde Rd later, which meant a fair old dash back.
  15. Regarding Barry Ayres, from where I sit he more than succeeded at speedway, he got to race it, I never got any nearer than sitting astride Soren Sjosten's bike in the Hyde Rd pit car park as he was preparing to load it up after a meeting, my dad did ask him first, I was 7, wish I'd known at the time that this would be the highlight of my speedway career. Coulda woulda shoulda
  16. That's the 2nd time you've brought up Peter's brain injury, very unfair of you in my opinion. I too suffered brain haemorrhage in 2010, August 1st as it happens, which I think is about a month or so before PC had his, I underwent 7hrs of surgery at North Staffs, had platinum coiling inserted, so a fairly serious injury I'm sure you'd agree. Within 2 months I returned to work, in the insolvency industry, so fairly high pressure and no room for error, yet I managed fine, continued in the role for another 4 years with no issues related to the injury. So I have to wonder what makes you think that Peter should not be taken at his word? As for your comments to Tony Mac, well if it weren't for him we would probably never have got to read in such interesting detail about Peter's early life and career, I found it just about the best speedway book I've read and I've read most of them. Backtrack- well it was bound to run out of steam since it was dedicated to such a short period in the grand scheme of the sport.
  17. I almost envy you, I went cover to cover in just a few days and thoroughly enjoyed the book, I'd advise any of your family not to attempt meaningful conversation until the new year, depending on your reading speed of course.
  18. No consolation I know but trust me it will be worth the wait and don't expect to get anything done for a few days once you pick it up, it's a fantastic read.
  19. Yes, was a belting race, until the back straight on the last lap, young lads all going for it, brilliant effort considering the match was over.
  20. Well we've got to have some drama, wouldn't be British speedway if there wasn't a final twist in the 2nd leg of the big finale.
  21. Mine dropped through the letterbox today, I'm 150 pages in already and can honestly say the time has gone nowhere since I opened the envelope after tea, great read so far, plenty of anecdotes and insights, a good selection of photos. I'm looking forward to reading on tomorrow. Thanks to @TonyMac and the team for getting them sent out, it's appreciated.
  22. Like I said, you post some rubbish, you just stick to 2nd Division issues and let the top league sort their own business.
  23. Why? There is absolutely no correlation between the 2 events, Belle Vue & Sheffield fulfilled their commitments to the play-offs, it was won on the track. You don't half post some rubbish, honestly you do.
