Who knows but we'll probably find out on Monday.

A Leicester fan I spoke with on Monday said it's been drastically improved since then, you're so living in the past down there on the south coast.
-
Weather permitting I may drive over on Thursday, from reading your posts you seem to do the trip often enough, would you say A50/M1 is the best route to use? Google maps suggest just under 2hrs but obviously that can change depending on the time of day.

A travesty for speedway? Mate I think you're clutching at straws with that one, not one fall all meeting, a decent amount of passing, reasonable times throughout. I understand you being gutted at the result but that was nothing to do with the condition of the track, it was down to your team not wanting to know, for me the only Lions rider to come out of it with any credit was Sam Hagon, he was prepared to give a good go and deserved every point he got. Fricke, Masters and Becker were poor imo. Belle Vue track staff deserve a lot of praise for ensuring the meeting went ahead as scheduled, it wasn't a quagmire by any stretch of imagination, Bewley & Kurtz proved you could venture out wide and prosper, Leicester's top liners just weren't prepared to give it a go. One hand on the trophy but still all to play for on Thursday, here's hoping the track can deliver a decent meeting.

Obviously no guarantees but I've just bought mine, it's not rained since early this morning and the forecast doesn't look to be getting any worse, I'm 6miles from the track. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/6296575 It's always a gamble with this sport.

Belle Vue -V Sheffield POSFs
nw42 replied to Phil The Ace's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
There has always been the odd rider who nobody can take to, Jack Holder is the latest in a long line, first one I can remember was Tommy Roper, always got the bird from opposition supporters, even Ivan Mauger was far from universally popular despite rather than because of his success, Hans Nielsen another. I don't think Jack Holders cares in the slightest what people think of him, couldn't be more different to his brother. Cracking meeting, thoroughly enjoyed the racing, Vuolas set the tone in ht 2, for me that was the ride of the night. -

What a belting ride from Vuolas, stalked his prey, great tactical ride, well done. -

Fair enough but both you and Rory were still stating that they were on the last lap, which was my point. Anyway, decent meeting, decent presentation as per usual. -

They hadn't completed 3 laps when it happened, despite what the commentary team stated, they even re-showed it and still said the same. -

Scunthorpe v Oxford 1st leg semi final
nw42 replied to scunny1's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
First time I've seen a meeting from there, enjoyed it, the track lends itself to some decent racing, Scott Nicholls still has all the moves, great to see him sending it round the boards, I bet Bomber is a sight to behold on that track. -
You know full well why people don't bother with live tv meetings, there are posts in this thread to that effect, the delays are mindnumbing. You support a team with no real local sporting competition, it's either speedway or powerboat racing, that's why your crowds hold up. I just don't understand why you constantly bring up the same rubbish about crowd numbers yet virtually ignore the fact that we've just seen such a brilliant meeting on the best track in Britain.
-
Same old line trotted out out, that's all you've got, terrible crowd blah blah. Meanwhile you're content to watch 2nd division racing on a tinpot track, as you were. Some fantastic racing tonight, plenty of passing, well done both teams for providing great entertainment.

British Final 2024
nw42 replied to Hackett's topic in Speedway Testimonials & Individual and Shared Events
Yeah and fancy having it in Manchester where it might have rained, just ridiculous. As for the home advantage, Bewley won it in 2022 when he wasn't a Belle Vue rider, just sayin... -
Well done Birmingham, thought it was a very good meeting, plenty of close racing, some decent passes and a close finish. Fully deserved victory.

I doubt very much that any fans actually travelled from Poland just to watch that meeting, more likely they were Poles who actually live and work here, just a bit of journalistic licence by Ian Brannen I reckon. I paid for the stream, was considering going but ran out of time to get there, so it was a handy option and I saved a few quid as well. Enjoyed the meeting, great to see the main stand looking almost full to capacity. Can't really blame the ref for Doyle's misfortune in the final, there's no way he could've known that spokes had been shed, nobody came off, so no reason to stop the race. I thought Max Fricke was the fastest rider on view but, as he and Dan both said, there was little traction to be had in the final and Brady had the best line. Welcome back speedway.

Glasgow V Poole Championship Final 8/10/23 6pm
nw42 replied to Steve Shovlar's topic in SGB Championship League Speedway
Scoreline doesn't reflect the gulf in difference of the effort of the respective teams, Glasgow hit them hard from the start and never really backed off. Poole did have some bad luck but even so, didn't expect them to get 38points. At least Wednesday isn't a dead rubber, game on. -

Indeed, ride of the night so far for me, didn't expect him to get round Tarasenko, brilliant effort. -
Agree re Woffinden, disgraceful behaviour. As for Lambert, I was happy to hear what he had to say after the meeting on Tuesday, it was probably less than 5mins after he'd finished racing, his adrenalin will have been flowing, he didn't swear, he made his points clearly and ended it with a positive statement about getting himself another winners medal on Thursday, which he duly delivered on, can't fault him on that. Unfair to lump the 2 of them together imo.
