  1. Quite right. Cheap riders, expensive riders none of them are unbeatable it's up to the others to step up to the plate
  2. You would struggle to gauge support from a few challenge matches. The speedway supporter in my experience is a league animal from the amount of times you hear the term 'nothing meeting'. You would get some turning up out of curiosity but wouldn't commit to full season support and then those that wouldn't turn through 'nothing to play for' it's a shame really as it could encourage a few more teams to rise from the ashes
  3. I'd say the problem is the promoters will probably want the supporters to buy into EL before they run a NL team. As people may just not bother with EL and go to the NL. There are a few supporters who are sceptic about the move up so probably best to settle in first then do it maybe next year....Lets hope
  4. Lets hope so. Leicester became sectarian for a while and now to a lesser extent still is 3 years later because people found it difficult to work together. It's not nice and makes you feel guilty about enjoying and supporting your team. Lets hope someone can put a lid on it early on.
  5. He would be best not pricing himself out of the market for NL then putting his price up for PL. He is good but I don't think he is quite Robert Lambert standard just yet.
  6. Scunny always put up their airfence; amateur, practice, league meetings but it would be interesting to see if they make it a requirement
  7. My interest in the IOW's survival is born from being a (new) Leicester supporter and what the closure of tracks does to people with the closing of Leicester /Long Eaton & the subsequent opening of Leicester again. It's heartbreaking for them.
  8. Mr Sensible seems to think that it is time to stop asking supporters for contributions and make the promoters shoulder the burden (The IOW doesn't have a promoter btw). The point I am making is that when the club folds and the committee walk away the IOW supporters will then set to trying to get it back which will cost them just as much if not more. Gustix and Tsunami have obviously been in that position by the sounds of it you haven't. Hence you not seeing the point. Get the AF in place could be a start but it's clearly not the solution.
  9. Oh it will cost them a damn sight more if the club folds and then they set to trying to revive it. Ask anyone of the difunct clubs trying to get back. It's a crying shame that the track is there going nowhere just cash flow is the obstacle. Quite different from tracks which have been sold for development. For those saying they aren't getting anything for their efforts they just may get a season of Speedway if the effort isn't made they won't I would say that's plenty.
  10. I suspect tha JTS argument is about Adams earning potential as much as anything else. His earning potential in the national league is quite high even on £10 a point which I doubt he is on and I quite agree he should be given the opportunity to earn as much as he can during the season.
  11. This league is about a conveyer belt of new talent the conveyer belt needs to keep moving I can see both sides you don't want new talent getting fed up waiting for places but then by the same token you need to as we say in my trade 'underpin knowledge' because you can't beat experience
  12. Well RH were talking about 5 rookies so I can't see that being an issue and i'd say Scunny would have been the same maybe not enough rookies Doesn't sound like it. Nothing in the press release and that would be quite a change.
  13. What could have happened to RH and Scunny? Oh well maybe they will re think
  14. Has there been any white smoke seen yet?
  15. Reade has ridden for Stoke for the last 3 seasons (including the colts season) improving year on year but last year was blighted by injury. Hopefully the BV track will suit him. Nielsen is the Marmite kid you love him or hate him but 1 thing is for sure you will be sat on the edge of your seat when he is at the tapes as with Garrity. :-) Enjoy your season.
  16. I believe it's on the 10th Dec......What do you mean what is it?
  17. I maybe wrong, I probably am wrong but I thought i'd read that if they had held an average of over 5 they couldn't DU and he went over that with Sheffield.
  18. No I mean Simon. He has had a PL av of over 5 so he can't double up I believe hence the problems with Stoke & RH in 2012.
  19. I'd say there is going to be a rule change at the AGM as Rambo has been announced in PL and EL and he has posted he is awaiting 'conformation' on a NL place.
  20. Thanks for your reply. Lets hope it's taken on board
  21. It could be a great little club. I myself think the stadium is grea, maybe a little tired but a lick of paint could soon sort that out. Although access to any facilities is quite a treck form the backstraight now that the pit lane has been closed off. Why would the promoter not allow the supporters take pride in their club and help re energise it. What has happened in the past to create such a gulf between the promoter and the supporters? Genuine question.
  22. I may not know much about speedway but I do know about currency conversion. The Zloty is pretty worthless. A Zloty is worth 20p that makes it 40 PLZ to my calculations, at today's market. £8.00 to you and I versus 40 PLZ to the average Polish wage. That argument holds not weight.
  23. I agree I have 1 that does(boy 23) 1 who will come if pressured(boy 26) and 1 that flatly refuses(girl 20).
  24. But they already go. So no need to attract them!!!!! That's the problem constantly looking back. Tony would be doing cartwheels if there were more people on the terraces paying top riders wage. The problem is there are too many 'mature' fans who reject any ideas to drag the sport kicking and screamimg into the 21st century and they just want to reminisce all the time but...... the 'good old days' don't pay modern wages i'm affraid. I'm constantly being accused of not being a 'true' supporter or don't know what i'm talking about. All because I've only watched the sport since 2008 and know the square route of bugger all about 'the past'
