  1. As much as Magnus has had a good weekend at two tracks that i'm guessing were made for him (the Leicester track certainly was and he has a pretty good record at Glasgow) there now seems a lot of people calling for him to be retained. He hasn't looked great for over a year though and as nice a guy as he is i do hope it hasn't made us think twice about recalling Roynon for him. Roynon has averaged 9-9.50 a meeting for most of last year and is one of Englands hottest prospects one of the most exciting riders to watch as well. IMO, 4 out the 5 from Nieminen, Doolan, Karlsson, Bjerre and Roynon and it has to be Magnus out every time on both form and the entertainment value they bring.
  2. I can safely say they are my last posts mentioning averages!!.. in future I'm leaving posts about averages to the likes of statman!
  3. I make Magnus' average for june greensheets 6.53 + 2 more meetings If i've included the right meetings for the criteria. That's assuming he should ride against Workington and then Glasgow be replaced by Roynon. Looking at it again, i got my dates mixed up so i think Roynon will likely miss both meeting so his June average i make 7.66. I been through it times and i can't see where i've got it wrong. i can now (along with all the rest)! i've now edited original post
  4. As we've all gone stat mad on Leicester 2013 thread and going on what Statman has put above i've made some rolling average calculations on the basis that Roynon returns next week rather than this and the rest of the Lions ride all the meetings in June & July with no rain offs (tonight would appear to be a very slow night on the telly). The more i'm writing the parameters down the more pointless the exercise now appears! It does seem that Roynon will almost certainly end up no 1 by July if he returns in any kind of form at all. June averages - 1.Nieminen 8.09 + 2 meetings 2.Roynon 7.66 3.Doolan 7.40 + 2 meetings 4.Bjerre 7.22 + 2 meetings 5.Graversen 5.46 + 2 meetings 6.Edberg 4.25 + 2 meetings July averages 1.Roynon 8.11 + 5 meetings 2.Nieminen 7.84 + 7 meetings 3.Bjerre 7.38 +7 meetings 4.Doolan 7.12 + 7 meetings 5.Graversen 5.68 + 7 meetings 6.Edberg 4.26 + 7 meetings
  5. Not seen anything about this until i was reliably informed today. Rolling Averages are being phased back gradually from 38 meetings to 24 meetings during 2013. Does anyone know what stage on the way to 24 we are going to be at when June GSA's are announced. I guess this could significantly change some riders average. Anyone got any more info?
  6. You're right Glennylion. I'm not sure how we do solve these problems. I think the only answer would be fingers crossed that one of Alex, Jan and Robert can step it up on what they've produced so far, at times they've all shown they can. Everyone is taking for granted that Branford will score nothing every meeting which hopefully he won't. Maybe if he can start getting a few and Roynon hit's the ground running (Probably a bad turn of phrase to use in conjunction with Adam) we may suddenly be OK.
  7. He's a month behind everyone but hopefully Roynon will be quickly back on it when he returns. I thought he'd be our No1 before the season started and hopefully he still will be. If he is then hopefully it's problem solved at the top end as Adam back and doing what he should and Lasse hopefully able to fully concentrate on the Lions we still look like we have a potent top 2. With Doolan and Nieminen to back them up i think we still might do the business. particularly if Nieminen can edge his way back to where know he can be. I still think our main problem this season so far is that we replaced a potential home and away 9.00 man with a 6.00 man (and i do mean no disrespect to Magnus by saying that) with regards to Robert Branford in both his meetings so far he's been fairly unlucky in his reserves races which probably didn't help the rest of the meeting pan out for him. If those races had been called differently then these meetings may have worked out differently for him. I hope he does OK and in the NL he seems to be of the level of Blackbird, Nielsen, Kerr, Jacobs, Morris and the likes and he's clearly shown he can step up with his British U21 Final win so you'd hope he could start getting some points for us. Pre season I thought Roynon may well have been a No1 to match those four. He certainly finished last year looking in that class with both Coventry and Workington. Hopefully starting this week our 3 point reserve will start producing some points. He's only had a couple of meetings and i actually thought he was a bit unlucky not to score a few at Somerset.
  8. are you under the impression that the BSF Leicester thread massive are managing Leicester? i think you could be right. I'm only looking at options we might have (not great i admit). Wouldn't Burmeister have a 5.00 converted EL average. Would Manzares be more? i was thinking he would be a 5 but i guess he'd probably is more now you mention it. I'd think Roynon back in for Karlsson when fit and then fingers crossed it works out for us in our spanking new kevlars! or something like that..
  9. 1. It would seem not, lets hope it stays that way! 2. Absolutely 3. I don't agree, only this year has poor weather resulted in such poor crowds. The lack of entertainment on view is surely a factor when choices are made with meetings in poor weather. 4. Still not tried it. I appear to be having a second coming with regards to bladder control! 5. Who's moaning? Mick.
  10. I agree, the intellegent posts from people with positive views of Leicester have, up to this week, been very rare for good reason. Up until this week there has been nothing positive to talk intellingently about.
  11. I agree. i also like Thorsell. We can't sign Birmingham, Coventry, Swindon, Kings Lynn or Wolves riders as all have 3 d/up or it seems Peterborough riders as they wont allow their riders to double up.. Poole's out because the available riders are all poles. Belle Vue's available riders are very busy continental riders which leaves Lakesides and Eastbournes riders. Out of riders currently riding here in the EL i only see maybe Bridger, Nilsson, Shields (and maybe Gizalutin) as available now if they aren't riding abroad much. Not sure any of those fit what we require, save for maybe Bridger if he could turn it around but that would mean no place for Roynon. I suppose something along the lines of a Burmeister or Manzares, along with a returning Roynon may make a difference on our travels although i'd be wary of saying for who as i don't want to upset any more people than i already do!
  12. Maybe there are 1 or 2 more changes still to happen that Edberg's average suits.
  13. Blooming eck Tina. Surely we can want both excitement AND a decent team. Foremost i think we're speedway fans, we like being entertained by speedway racing. Not even been close to happening so far at BP but it did last night. If there is a myth it's the one that you've tried to perpetrate that a successful promotion of Speedway needs only a winning team and a good craic with friends. A crowd of less than 1000 last night might tell a different story. I also thoroughly enjoyed last night as well. First time in 2 1/2 years!
  14. totally agree with all of that. Looking on facebook last week and someone mentioned they were delivering some new shale for the youth champs. Was there some new shale down last night? Again, it's a pity there aren't more riders willing to play up to the crowds in the way Barker does. There always seems to to be one who goes too far in the response though. I think we did well to win it last night. Looking at Heeps & Barker against Karlsson and Nielsen before heat 11 and i thought a home defeat was definately on the cards with how Risager, Heeps & Barker looked. That looked a 1-5 banker if ever there was one. That heat saved us in the end i think, well that and the decision to leave Lanham in heat 13. Heeps in for a 5-1 in that heat would have still left it a draw.
  15. Even though Mrcts is keeping it under his hat, I did see my Uncle tonight who was at BP for the interview. Sounds like Roynon was hopeful that he would be back in a couple of weeks.
  16. there was! In fact there was more overtaking on the 1/2 bend than in the combined heats of the last 2 1/2 years (errors and genuine). Maybe it needs to be that mucky at the beginning every week, though preferably with the 1/2 hour of tractor driving before the start time. First time it's actually looked like overtaking was possible around 1/2. Not sure why Heeps didn't take Lanhams last ride. Or why Nielsen didn't take Sergeants last ride. Heeps looked very good tonight on a track he's struggled badly with previously. A fantastic win for Ellis after a first bend fall in his first ride and only looking average in his second ride.
  17. No, i was on holiday down Somerset way so didn't make it. What did he say or was it just for the ears of the real fans like you and Great Central (as opposed to us internet whinging, armchair types who put the future of the sport in Leicester in doubt).
  18. i'm interested as well, does anyone have any news on Roynon?
  19. I understood that tapsbruv, i just forgot the wink at the end of my post.
  20. No sour grapes, just a surprise from one of the clubs shouting the loudest about keeping costs under control at the AGM. Would the tackling below be the sliding variety or just the old style two footed studs showing ? Club Co-Promoter Dennis McCleary added: “We are in negotiations with a number of riders for 2013 with most realising that they need to take a pay cut in order to race in the Premier League in 2013. “We have been enthused by the reaction by most of the riders who realise that without the clubs there is no league speedway and therefore no job for them at all. “It looks as though we will once again have 13 clubs come to the Premier League tapes for 2013 stretching the length and breadth of Great Britain and it would be a travesty if even one club folds as that is seven riders unemployed. “We are not in a unique financial position at Berwick, and therefore league bosses have to be applauded for tackling the problems before they escalate beyond repair.
  21. I think you're wrong there. 165 nicker is the best he could earn riding in heat 15. I bet that wouldn't even cover a third of the expenses he'd need to even get to Berwick and back so probably not worth him bothering with!
  22. We should be sitting here now with a team of nieminen doolan roynon bjerre graversen Kerr and blackbird all able to race, not just ride, on a track newly altered by the top track curator they had available to them I.e Glyn Taylor (as opposed to comedy Dave Darcy) that allowed racers to race and overtake and want to ride for the Lions. The reality has turned out slightly different and, with the exception of Roynon, its time the promotion finally realised the errors they have made and made amends before its too late.
  23. Well done to Berwick. Did Kennett have any noticable effect on the gate tonight? Although i'm still sceptical as to the money thing, I really do hope he has the desired effect.
