Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Islander15 replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Considering he came through at the same time as Bowtell & Hunter under the same initial guidance, he's improved very fast. -
I did wonder why you went for such a low starting average haha, but yeah you can edit your team.
-
Thanks Wiseguy. I've posted everybody's results on last year's thread. So the reigning champion is Halifax Tiger, with John Leslie second and Turn Two third.
-
The results are in! The winner is Halifax Tiger with a team of: Mountain, Wood, Ayres, Coles, Knight, Bacon & Parkinson-Blackburn. 1. Halifax Tiger: 55.41 2. John Leslie: 53.55 3. Turn Two: 52.01 4. Monarchs Mitchy: 51.82 5. Teaboy 279: 51.39 6. Red and yellow: 51.13 7. Ben91: 51.00 8. Islander 15: 50.88 9. Iand: 49.75 10. Brummie Kev: 49.66 11. 21st Century Heathen: 49.21 12. Macca56: 48.95 13. Sings4Kings: 48.79 14. Steven101: 48.75 15. Whistle gang: 48.55 15. Szkocjasid: 48.55 17. Gee jay: 48.47 18. Wiseguy: 47.54 18. Richard Weston: 47.37 19. Al3x200: 46.66 20. Martyn Griggs: 46.13 21. All the gear but nae idea: 43.69 22. Wightlink Flyer: 43.15 A couple of things that I found interesting is that John Leslie was the only person to choose Bewley. Whilst Andrews, Ruddick, Ritchings, Dwyer, Carr, Smart and both Greenwoods were chosen yet their averages went down

1. Ben Morley 9.22 2. Tom Brennan 3.00 3. Jack Parkinson-Blackburn 6.97 4. Jack Smith 6.32 5. Danyon Hume 7.33 6. Kyle Bickley 3.00 7. Jordan Jenkins 3.00 Total: 38.84

The aim is to pick a side who'll end with the highest collective team average. Simply pick 7 riders upto a 39 point limit and a max of 2 riders per team. No transfers, it's just a start of the season competition. I've ran this before on this site and thanks to Wiseguy for finding last season's topic, where I've posted last season's results.

I think Belle Vue, Mildenhall, Cradley, Eastbourne & Birmingham will be the play-off contenders, with BV my title tips. Kent then look the next best alongside Buxton and Lakeside (who should do very well at home but awful away). Finally Stoke, Isle of Wight, King's Lynn and Plymouth look the weakest four.
-
Isle of Wight were only allowed a facility for 28 days last season, regarding Compton. So they'd still need to sign somebody.
-
King & Bates strengthen the team and will give the supporters more consistency if Lebedevs was going to miss a lot of meetings. Win, win!
-
You can't if the rider in question (Hughes) hasn't ridden in an official meeting.
-
Campos isn't a number 1 but he's never claimed to be a number 1. He shouldn't be expected to replicate the scoring that Hughes would've done because he's not at that standard, but he should be judged on his own recent abilities. He added a point to his average last season and did pretty well. Last season the Isle of Wight signed Chris Widman to replace their number 1. He clearly isn't a number 1, but that didn't mean that Widman was poor because he was judged on if he himself improved. Sometimes it's difficult to find riders who's averages 'fit'.
-
Shanes doesn't want the NL & Jacobs and Sarjeant's averages are too high.
-
Campos had a practice at Peterborough recently so I was expecting him in the team. It makes sense though because there's no number 1s out there for KL to get at this late stage and at least he's a decent rider who goes well at the Norfolk Arena. It seemed too early for him to retire anyway.

Halder is the best of the lot not yet signed up.

Brummies V Cradley Wed 22nd March
Islander15 replied to Brummies_Ste's topic in National League Speedway
I can see Cradley nicking this as it's a former gone track for Perry, Harris and essentially Lawlor and Ayres always did well there last season. I think the Birmingham team is a bit of a drop down from the previous 2 years and people will be expecting Cupitt to do a Wajtknecht or a JPB, which is unfair on him. -
It sounds like Manzares will be at Central Park.
-
So Couzins has been practising then! Does he want a full-time NL spot?

Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Islander15 replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Ah I see haha. I dont know if those pair have had much practice this winter either but Laurence has been around years and never broken past a 3.something average and Whitmore looked well off the NL pace last season. -
Title favourites imo.

I've always liked Parker tbh. Hopefully that's a positive sign for Mullins that he'll do alright once he's shaken off the expected rustiness. -

Yeah they will tbh, apart from Basford because his average is over 3.00. It doesn't make sense for them to redeclare. -

I'd go for Rob Parker tbh. I think Ben Basford said he's taking a year out and Leek is a candidate for a Warriors reserve spot. -
I think Jenkins will do really well and give Mildenhall 4 genuine heat leaders. Brennan will be very good at home and I think he'll soon improve away.
