Birmingham Brummies 2017 Hat Trick
Islander15 replied to ProudtobeaBrummie's topic in National League Speedway
Ah I see haha. I dont know if those pair have had much practice this winter either but Laurence has been around years and never broken past a 3.something average and Whitmore looked well off the NL pace last season. -
Title favourites imo.

I've always liked Parker tbh. Hopefully that's a positive sign for Mullins that he'll do alright once he's shaken off the expected rustiness. -

Yeah they will tbh, apart from Basford because his average is over 3.00. It doesn't make sense for them to redeclare. -

I'd go for Rob Parker tbh. I think Ben Basford said he's taking a year out and Leek is a candidate for a Warriors reserve spot. -
I think Jenkins will do really well and give Mildenhall 4 genuine heat leaders. Brennan will be very good at home and I think he'll soon improve away.
-
I'd be inclined to agree that the Chanpionship this season is too much for Brennan & Jenkins but then Bewley was impressive by going straight into it. But it's a non-starter anyway as both are still 15 years old.
-
He's had tons more competitive practice than Smith & Bewley, but that doesn't necessarily make him better than them, but hard to compare. It's easier to compare him to JPB though and I'd suggest they would be on par with each other at 15 years old.
-
True but it's putting down a marker by signing him now.
-
Bickley's already signed up for the 2018 Comets!

They could use whichever of the Woodhull's is officially number 8. -
Auty rides well at number 5 usually, so I'd put him there and Kerr at 3 personally.
-
Good to see an opportunity given to two genuinely talented riders. Who are the rumoured 3 further signings?
-
Purchase, Clifton & Wallinger.

I agree. The 3.00 average was dubious but other clubs benefittied from getting a rider on 3.50 on a very similar situation last season, so the Warriors should've done too.
-
What a joke that is! In keeping with recent riders who have returned to the shale, he should be reassessed at 3.50 or use his 2009 average of 3.00. Cook was a rider I was looking forwards to watching and the Warriors will be weaker without him.
-
Josh Bates' tweet suggests he's signed for Leicester, doesn't it??
-
Jacobs didn't achieve his 8.63 last season though.
-
If the Warriors finish 2 places behind Eastbourne, then I'll be happy.
-
There's no other meeting scheduled on that date.
-
Kent have cancelled their May home fixture against BV/Coventry so there must be some concern that they won't run at all. The press release says that a later date maybe more suitable but if BV/Coventry are running then what difference would moving an away fixture from May to potentially September make?!
-
Gutting for Coventry fans, but also the Coventry rider's who it appears weren't even told!
-
Surely Hughes' reasons are the sort of stuff he should've considered before he accepted the position. I wonder if Campos will consider filling the role permanently or temporarily.

Mellish seems pretty involved with the Colts so far so it seems likely that he'll get a team spot and the Woodhull twins unofficially share another. Bickley should be one of the genuine stars next season, along with Brennan & Jenkins. But even when he moves up, a top 5 of him, Bewley, Shuttleworth, Payne & Smith is enough to beat most teams before even accounting for the reserves scores. Whilst Mellish isn't poor by any means, even if the twins struggle initially. I think their let down will be when they face stronger sides at the end of the season who can match their heat leaders and if they have a lot of fixture clashes because they have 3 riders doubling-up, and I wouldn't be surprised to see Payne end the season in the Championship.
