  1. NOT on that particular occasion ... Lambert had seemed down on speed all that particular day, scoring just four points. Emil was flying.
  2. I DON'T speak to as many riders as I used to but in my recent experience it is virtually unanimous that the modern day speedway bike is a 'bitch' to ride on most British tracks, underlined that no one I know of doesn't relish racing at the NSS. Riders want to enjoy their racing and that certainly isn't possible at a high number of tracks in the UK.
  3. KELVIN Tatum has an idea that we will be producing in SS shortly. Fundamentally, reduce the costs for riders and they require less from the promoters. Most British tracks haven't changed in decades but the equipment they are using certainly has.
  4. TOUGH to see Lambert being over-looked for a SGP wild card in 2019 even if he doesn't make it through the Challenge
  5. OF course M&S and others listen to their customers. If they produce a product that their customers don't want they drop or change it.
  6. THEY will still get the same exposure as they would if he wasn't riding for Glasgow. It has been tough for Craig and at present his only income is from Belle Vue, and they don't have that many meetings left. Sometimes he is his own worst enemy but the lad needs an income.
  7. EMIL Sayfutdinov told us in Hallstavik that he only rides on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. About 40 meetings and he is happy with that. Spends the rest of the week with his young family.
  8. IF I knew what was going on and was at liberty to tell you I would. Being told something in confidence is one thing, being able to use it is another.
  9. YES we do, plenty in fact. Trust you not to miss an opportunity to have a dig at SS and its journalists. But then, of course, as in all things you know best. What a life you lead.
  10. IT is often stated that1500 fans were lost when Coventry closed. I can say that Speedway Star's sales took a huge hit.
  11. AND about to reform I believe after the brothers fell out years ago.
  12. SO, you think it okay that he pays all the costs of Nick Morris and another track gets him for nothing. It is like buying a car and then someone else drives it without paying anything.
  13. IF they deem to tell us which is far from a given
  14. I QUERIED his comment about Monday as a set night. Apart from Wolverhampton, who have a long tried and tested Monday as their racenight, many other tracks won't entertain it. It is financial suicide... the night after a weekend when many will have had their fill of 'entertainment'.
  15. NOT just a fan ... but an extremely experienced sports administrator whose views are very valid. And it's just an opening salvo. More to come.
  16. ALL licensed promoters of every club can attend a General Council meeting. But not all (BV for example) have a vote. That is denied until the current promotion has held a licence for three years.
  17. NIGEL can only put out what the BSPA will agree to ... which amounts to nothing as far as their meetings are concerned.
  18. EMAIl star@pinegen.co.uk with your address or where you purchase and we will see what alternatives there are. It is a gamble for us but the intransigence of WH Smith towards not only Pinegen but other small publishers is shameful. Ultimately they will suffer and probably help hasten their demise which is already on the cards.
  19. MAYBE they could at least tell us what they hope might be the answer and gauge public reaction before it is too late. For what it is worth, one league seems to be firmly on the table. Swindon promoter Terry Russell makes some really good points in SS this week, especially about CL tracks living off the backs of PL ones.
  20. THE BSPA General Council met on Tuesday at a time when speedway in the UK is in crisis. But, as usual, no word from the inner chambers of ACU House in Rugby. We are not allowed to know what they discussed, what plans they have afoot or any decisions made. They have become the ultimate secret society. And yet they wonder (maybe they don't) why the paying public, on whom they depend, despair and are deserting the sport in their droves. Are they interested in what British fans, those that are left, are prepared to pay to watch?
  21. OR that without him there wouldn't have been a deal in the first place
