Just read mine and have to agree with you on that it was very good, and of the riders that you mentioned I seem to remember that Reg Wilson, Doug Wyer, Carl Glover and Taffy Owen have all been featured.

I cannot remember changing to an individual meeting, it was usually a start of the season set of meetings between Sheffield, Belle Vue, Halifax and Hull, I don't know when it was stopped or why though, but I am sure that it was not changed to a individual meeting, you might be getting mixed up with the Northern Riders Championship.

Yes it was Poole, he did fall out with the Promotion, but I don't know why.

I miss Halifax, and the Shay, with its steep banking's, the place was a bit of a dump, but the racing was very very exciting, and the riders got close to the fence I swear that you could see the white's of there eyes as they went passed. Nowadays I don't think that you could have a Halifax anybody more the health and safety would not allow it.

I must say that my memory must have been playing tricks with me on that one, and yes I do remember turning out for the Tigers, signed by Ray Glover if I remember correctly, I think Ray did try to get him to return back to Sheffield the following season, seem to remember he was looking at flying up. I also seem to remember in the Speedway Star, some young girl writing to a Dave Jessop weekly column, asking if JD was a natural blonde or was it dyed, cannot remember DJ's answer. Have to admit that he was not a favourite of mine, I always thought he was a bit flash, but there is no doubting that he was a good rider though.

If my memory serves me well I seem to remember that he did not make much of a protest about it.

The thing I remember about Tony Davey was his riding style, had a nice easy style of riding as though he was sat in a nice comfortable chair.

I don't think that we are that badly of at this moment.

I remember they guy, amazed that he has just retire from riding must have been well into his 50's, done fantastically well to remain competative all this time.
